Do you like adaptations of books to the big screen? I tend to be a bit open-minded in that aspect, knowing that some details are always lost, but that sometimes they add others that you don't get in the books.

Wow, time goes by so fast. I remember this movie and how young the actors were hahaha. A good adaptation, I liked it at the time, although I have not seen it again.
I knew about this movie almost immediately when I read the book, but I really hadn't bothered to see it. I loved this movie, even though they didn't reflect everything that happened in the book, because in the same way, it transmitted the magic that I felt when I read the book and this is undoubtedly because of the gala of actors involved.
I really like this genre, so I'll give a try to this movie; although book's adaptations are not always the best, I hope this is not the case.

You're absolutely right, it's a dream cast and a masterful film adaptation of a very good book. I have never read it, I only know the movie and I love it, but now that I see your review I see that there are important differences between the two, I prefer not to look for the book and stay with the pleasure of having enjoyed a good movie...
The truth is that if you stay only with the movie, it is very good, because although it is true that they omit some points, the essence of the book remains intact throughout the film, so I can say that it is a good adaptation.
I felt many things while watching it, I got involved with the characters in a way that had not happened to me before with another movie, it was good to see it and it is a great classic film.

I think this movie is already considered a cult movie or a cinematographic work, since I have heard that it is very good, I have not seen it yet but it sure is interesting, it looks like it has an incredible cast.
It catches my attention, no doubt it will be on my list of pending movies.
The truth is that it has a very interesting plot and I recommend that when you have the opportunity to see it. It is also set in an interesting historical context in the midst of the Chilean dictatorship.

Este es una de las adaptaciones a las que le tengo especial cariño. Son muchos los factores, como bien dices, que hacen de esta película una obra maestra, con un elenco de lujo y profundas implicaciones morales, sociales y políticas.

Esta es una tremenda adaptación, leí el libro y vi la película y a pesar de que hay muchos cambios, no perdió la esencia. La escena de las torturas a Alba no fueron ni la mitad de crueles y viscerales que fueron en los libros, pero es algo que agradezco porque quizá yo no hubiese visto la película. Me encantó la actuación de todos pero en especial la de Meryl Streep, estuvo a la altura de su personaje que era tan enigmático, muy propio del realismo mágico en el que está envuelta la novela. Gracias por traer esta película, de verdad disfruté mucho tu video, quizá yo también traiga mi review más adelante 😊
