On-going K-drama The Killing Vote

macproperty(15).png

What if the police as an institution and justice system fail to punish criminals? Should we rely on vigilantes to bring justice?

The killing vote is based on the premise of a mysterious vigilante trying to kill criminals who were released and received “seemingly” unjust sentences. This mysterious killer hacks into the mobile phones of everyday citizens in South Korea and every 15 and 30 of the month releases a voting system where people can tap “yes” or “no” in order to execute the criminals who receive unjust punishment. This sparks quite an outrage within the police but was welcomed by everyday citizens and they were happily participating in the voting. To uncover the real vigilante who ended up execuring the criminals, a cold detective and quite violent, Kim Mu-Chan works with a specialized task unit that will uncover the vigilante who is called “Gaemul” by people because he’s always wearing a dog’s mask. He was helped by Joo Hyun, a female police officer who works in a cyber unit and Kwon Seok-Joo, a father who committed murder after his daughter’s rapist was released and he ended up killing the alleged rapist. Things get more interesting as the vigilante happens to be the #1 fan of Seok Joo and was inspired by his words. Could the actual vigilante killer be close to Seok-Joo?

Still airing up to 5 episodes, there is a little ray of light that brings viewers close to the actual “Gaemul”. If you are quite impatient, I would suggest to watch until the series is over but if you’re quite patient and want some kind of excitement to find the actual “ gaemul”, it’s time to check it out now. This K-drama is full of suspense, mystery and packed with good actors such as Park Hae-Jin and Park Sung-Woong. From Asian Wiki, I am honestly surprised to see the rating that is quiet on the down-low. Despite the low rating, for anyone who loves mystery and crime, it’s worth checking out. I have not check out if the cause is because more famous actor is releasing a romcom but I am genuinely surprised by the low rating of this drama.

This looks interesting, if I can find time I will watch it. So far the last Korean series I've watched was The Glory. 🙂

avatar

The Glory is a thing too! maybe because it's Song Hye-Kyo? I also read that people connect it to her RL life with Song Joong-ki. I still need to check that one. I normally just watch them during my break/eating time 😆 that's why I get to finish about 3ep/daily.

avatar

Yessss, you should check that out. I was really invested in that series I hope they continue to make great series where everyone can get a reality check.

avatar

There are a lot of ongoing k-dramas right now, How I wish I have some time to watch them HAHAHA.....anyway it looks like this k-drama you shared is interesting. I'm gonna add it to my list now!

avatar

Right? I just finished Longing for you but I am finding out about "moving" and "celebrity". It's like depending on which you're subscribing to, there's always something new. As if Netflix vs CJ production keep on competing to catch our attention :D

avatar

HAHAHA I don't already know what will I watch first 🤣

avatar

Nice movie review. Sometime low rating of movies keeps them from being notice and whereas, they are topnotch.

avatar

yep! that's the problem with this k-drama. They should get more recognition.

avatar

Yeah, you are right. I remembered watching one also sometimes ago and it has a rating of 5 and when I watched the movie it was far beyond the 5 rating that was given to it.

avatar

I think this excellent review leaves much to be desired.🤗

(Edited)

Thanks for this.. I have a new series to watch hehe.. Have you watched The Mask Girl? It was trending a few hours after it was released..

avatar

I was watching the preview and it reminds me of some Hollywood series that I forgot its name. I am going to watch that one and I am hoping it's not as disappointing as "celebrity".

avatar

Ahm. Just watch it yourself 🤣 but I don't like the ending haha..
Just done watching 5 eps of Killing Vote.. Why do I feel like the professor killed the wrong guy...and the one that killed her daughter is Gael who's leading the killing vote...Misleading case it was.. Turned the blame to the innocent guy with mental illness...supported by the mother, the assemblywoman... I'm just analyzing it haha. It's an interesting series...and Gael is supporting fair justice, yet, he's a criminal himself, lol.

avatar

Girl! I was watching the Mask girl and the story is interesting and twisted! 🤣

avatar

Haha..yeah.. But there could be a better ending... There are actually many flaws in the movie..

avatar

I think the police are failing us as a society... Or at the very least that is what's happening in my country... It's a damned shame.

Don't think you'll be saved by some vigilante though 😂

!LUV

avatar

😄 they are failing us almost everywhere. It's interesting to think about the what if scenario of vigilantes bringing justice around.

avatar

Sounds quite like the theme of "Death Note," which I absolutely loved. So I think I am going to watch this one too and maybe compare.

Is it available on netflix or prime video?

avatar

I love death note! I used to have death note book too haha but yes, this is available on Prime video. They're only releasing 1 episode each week.

avatar

I used to have death note book too

Oh wow! I searched for it to buy when I visited Japan, but couldn't find one anywhere!

They're only releasing 1 episode each week

I'll for the entire season to be released first then and binge watch hehe! I can't wait for episodes :P

avatar

I am on kdrama again more than ever. 😄 But I am too lazy switching on different apps so I just watch what's available on netflix. I saw the thriller of this on facebook and I am really interested to watch this.

avatar

😆 same here! you should check this one out and then maybe mask girl or celebrity. Have you watched that one?

avatar

I am eyeing on mask girl after watching a podcast about it. I am just finishing romcom after watching The Glory. It's frustrating sometimes when a drama sounds really good and interesting but can't watch it on netflix.
