It’s A Wonderful Life - 1946 A Jolly Movie To Watch When You’re Feeling Down
From what I know, in some countries they watch It’s a Wonderful life during Christmas time. But I came to find out about this movie when I was feeling down and was trying to find something to watch. There were some recommendations but some of them did not really catch my attention.
Though one that was catching my attention was the movie titled It’s A Wonderful Life. This movie was released back in the 1946 directed by Frank Chapra.
This movie is a biographical-like narrating the life of George Bailey, a kind hearted boy who grew up to be an owner of a loan business who contributed to the community. During the Christmas Eve, people prayed for George Bailey and a flashback of George life was the story of the movie. We were taken to witness all the good deeds that George did. Throughout his life, he wanted to be an explorer but he was that guy who never leave town and took care of everyone and giving people chance to have home despite It may seem like he was running a charity with his family called Building and Loan.
The character itself, George Bailey was quite iconic. Personally I could relate to what he went through, when he suddenly lost a lot of money and was about to face jail. George, feeling like he didn’t matter and many things go wrong in his life, he decided to commit suicide but his Guardian Angel saved him. The angel showed what life would look like if he didn’t save his brother or even helped the people that come into his way. He suddenly felt grateful and wanted to go back to his old life.
In the end, people came helped him with his money issues and then he got all the support from his friend and eventually the guardian angel got his wing after meeting It was just such a wholesome ending but apparently, the digalogues and the cinematography were much striking to me. Te dialogues were well crafted with words with dialogues that I have rarely seen being used. So that’s why I find the movie to be quite interesting.
I think that older movies has a better storyline and a great dialogues. I love the music, dialogues and the characters that were really into it. It's almost hard for me to tell they were acting as I was simply immersed in the story and thinking as I was like watching George Life played right in front of my eyes.

I agree I think they have a more appealing stage presence as well. The older movies are more about acting than side effects. Plus it's neat to see a black & white flick.
Best way to put it. The acting was more raw and it's like they were holding our hands to witness their life. To think that something like that produced way back in 1945-1946 were quite mindblowing to me.
The old movies were great, particularly this one my grandmother saw it at the time, she told me that it was on tv with the screens in grayscale, she told me the story of this man and the good works he did at the time, I have always thought that films like these left a good teaching at the time, and that its history is interesting, something that few current films have managed to get, but these despite being very old for today, are still very good, these days I saw The Fox and the 3 stooges.
The moral story could be a black and white but regardless, it's the dialogues and sometimes the music as well. I'll check out The Fox and the 3 stooges :D
I feel like I’ve seen a part of this movie posted as a short on TikTok before.
I haven’t watched a lot of old films, so I can’t really tell which has better storylines than old ones though. I guess the black and white screen makes me automatically assume it’s a Charlie Chaplin type-movie with very minimal dialogies if any at all.
This movie on tiktok? I wouldn't know! but it's good that people air out this movie even on tiktok. It means, there's interest for old movies. But yeah, black and white aren't necessarily Charlie Chaplin style. Sometimes it's a really good one, like this one.
Yeah I guess I should be more open-minded about these kind of movies and start giving them a chance.
Greetings Mac! 🤗 I have yet to see this film since the 2021 community Christmas competition, where I read someone's review and it seemed surprising to me that at that time they played something as graphic as suicide in the cinema.
In that time I realized that it was a movie classic and had great reviews, so I understand why you got so immersed in the movie because I feel that the same thing will happen to me.
Thanks for reminding me, I'll take advantage of seeing it.
Happy start of the week my dear @macchiata 💖
I think they were no off-limits when it comes to cinema back in the day. That's why you could see suicide and everything on the screen. They seemed like experimental and it was an interesting to see it. Now, I understand why people keep playing this. You should re-watch it again dalla!
I love this movie! It was recommended to me when I was in college, saying I would relate to the character's dilemma and find it heartwarming. That started my "old films era" 😍 Glad to find someone who also loves the plot, dialogues, of old movies!
The character's dilema and problems were quite relatable in many ways. I am sure that people who has siblings could relate, people who struggle to chase their dreams, a family man with exorbitant amount of debt. It's definitely pretty interesting to see and by now I've re-watched it a couple of times.
I like old movies and it's many years since the last time I watched this one. So it's maybe time to refresh it!
Another one I enjoyed in the meaning is "The Silent Flute". Quite strange for animations, scenes and screens, but a great tale
I would love to watch that soon! definitely on my list :)
Thanks for the review. This is one of my family's favourite films, we watch it every Christmas Eve and it never fails to bring a tear to the eye. An absolute masterpiece!
It's definitely a masterpiece and I love how relevant it can be even these days. The cinematography itself is quite intriguing as well.
