Bookworm and The Beast is quite a self-explanatory title and you can expect a similar line along the beauty and the beast plot. However this film released back in 2021 takes quite a spin on it by featuring a bookworm from Utah called Izzy who is very passionate about Jane Austen. At the same time the beast is a slick businessman named Grant.They ended up tangled in a complex situation that eventually ended in romance. It stars Nicola Posener and Jake Stormoen who have quite a decent chemistry. Perhaps you've never heard of these two and in this movie, you can see how odd their acting can be at times. Although when rounded up, they do have a decent chemistry. Without further adieu, let’s dive into this movie.

Izzy is currently working as a PR in a small cafe establishment. During the opening of the cafe, Grant Beasts attempted to sabotage the opening because he wanted to buy the property and the business of the place. While negotiating with the owner Barbara, Izzy was filming Grant who was starting to become violent. Grant eventually running away from the crowd and Izzy into his car, driving off and unknowingly hitting Izzy’s father who was about to go back to the cafe. Since to Grant, online persona is everything and it was ruined, he eventually worked with Izzy and made a deal to fix his persona. As they work together Grant starts to become a lot closer to Izzy while she tries to keep distance and does her best to work with Grant. But eventually Izzy started to develop feelings for Grant but a turmoil changed the course of their relationship until they rekindled their relationship. Grant also undergoes some personal development and changes and the movie ends with Izzy and Grant quoting Jane Austen.

In my opinion, this film was a lot worse than Autumn in the Vineyard. The screenwriting and even the chemistry between the cast was really subpar. Running for an hour and 23 minutes, it’s the best movie you can play while finishing lunch or during a break. But better yet, it’s best if you could play something else. However, what I appreciate from it is the setting in Utah and the colours that were so popping. It was simply a typical romance film that at bests in my dictionary rates 5 out of 10. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re really running something to watch or looking for something new.
