Army of the Dead 2021 Underwhelming Zombie Film
I love zombie movie but Army of the dead failed to impress me. From the beginning to the end, there was nothing good that I can talk about it.
Yet the fact that I stayed watching for 2 hours was another matter. I've been learning about Zack Snyder and something called, Snyder-esque which apparently is a tribute to his directing and cinematography style. Even if you're not familiar with his name, I am sure some of you have watched 300, action drama film based on spartan soldiers. Perhaps you've also watched Justice League or Wonder woman. They are all have one thing in common, their visual has something called speed ramping which is a part of Snyder's style.
Watching army of the dead felt like watching the zombiesque suicide squad. But the fact that a lot of blurred scenes throw me off. It was quite hard to stay especially with the plot that was just underwhelming.But learning behind the scenes and the technicalities of how the movie was made is pretty intriguing.
In the end, I felt like I didn't waste time just because I was learning something new. I won't recommend this movie unless you're fan of Zack Snyder or Bautista.

I do think I wasted my time completely, I can't believe it was so boring and cliché. I know it's hard to innovate in the zombie subgenre, but it should have at least tried 🤣.

Army of the Dead it's completely useless, but on the other hand, Army of Thieves is really really good, I loved it, and you don't have to guess, Snyder didn't direct it.
Snyder is not really everyone's favorite. I mean, I don't quite like him but he has this unique style and that's probably why he is what he is today 😁
Yeah, I get that, he has really good movies, but a lot of people see him almost a god, so, yeah, he's overrated too.
I liked Army of the Dead, it must be the dumbest zombie movie, but it has some potential and I think it's because of the possible use of time and as shown in the film, this commando group is locked in a time trap, that along with the zombies, plus the action scenes was enough to get my attention and in the end I will like the movie.
The other thing I appreciate is the very clear homage that Zack makes to the film "ALIENS" by James Cameron, if you happen to make a comparison with characters and some aspects of the story, you will be able to see many references.
I recommend watching Army of Thieves, a film that is a prequel to this film that I don't know if you have any idea, but this is a franchise that will be completed by an anime and the sequel that will be called "World of the Dead" or something like that.
Oh! I was looking into the timeloop theory of this movie. It's pretty intriguing if you see it that way but it's also pretty dumb. I'll check out the other one after I finish some of my K-drama series haha
