Greetings to everyone. Today I want to talk to you about a series that caused a stir at its launch and became an international phenomenon: Money Heist. The Spanish series, created by Álex Pina, hit our screens in 2017 and quickly became a recurring topic of conversation. Let me give you my opinion on this series that has a group of masked robbers taking over Spain's National Mint.

I have never liked movies or series of robberies or suspense, but Money Heist is in another dimension, I could not resist watching it. The first seasons caught me with its master plan, the use of code names based on cities and the idea of printing money inside the Mint. It all seemed like a perfect recipe for an epic heist.

La serie española, creada por Álex Pina, llegó a nuestras pantallas en 2017 y rápidamente se convirtió en un tema de conversación recurrente. Permítanme darles mi opinión sobre esta serie que tiene a un grupo de atracadores enmascarados tomando la Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre de España.

Jamás me habían gustado las películas o series de robos o suspenso, pero La Casa de Papel esta en otra dimensión, no pude resistirme a verla. Las primeras temporadas me atraparon con su plan maestro, el uso de nombres en clave basados en ciudades y la idea de imprimir dinero dentro de la Casa de la Moneda. Todo esto parecía una receta perfecta para un atraco épico.

One of the strengths of the series is, without a doubt, its cast. Álvaro Morte as The Professor is brilliant, and his cunning and constant manipulation give the character a unique touch. In addition, the group of robbers, each with their own distinctive code name and personality, brings diversity to the cast and creates interesting dynamics.

However, as the seasons progress, plot holes begin to appear. At times, the characters' decisions seem impulsive or illogical, which can be frustrating. Also, the series often abuses the unexpected plot a bit, which can become tiresome.

Uno de los puntos fuertes de la serie es, sin duda, su elenco. Álvaro Morte como El Profesor es brillante, y su astucia y manipulación constante le dan un toque único al personaje. Además, el grupo de atracadores, cada uno con su nombre en clave y personalidad distintiva, aporta diversidad al reparto y crea dinámicas interesantes.

Sin embargo, a medida que avanzan las temporadas, empiezan a aparecer agujeros en el guion. A veces, las decisiones de los personajes parecen impulsivas o ilógicas, lo que puede resultar frustrante. Además, la serie a menudo abusa un poco de la trama inesperada, lo que puede llegar a ser agotador.

The resort to constantly returning the story to the past can also be confusing at times. While it does provide additional information about the characters, it sometimes feels like a way to fill time rather than contribute significantly to the plot and saturates the viewer. Overall I loved the series, but that last season took me off the cloud a bit.

If anything, it is characterized by those thrilling moments and well-choreographed action sequences that keep the adrenaline pumping. The relationship between the characters, especially the couples that form during the heist, adds a human element to the story that makes you connect with them; such is the empathy that you see them as the victims. The choice of Salvador Dalí's mask is a symbol of the series that gives it a unique touch.

El recurso de regresar la historia al pasado constantemente también puede ser confuso en ocasiones. Si bien proporciona información adicional sobre los personajes, a veces se siente como una forma de llenar tiempo en lugar de contribuir significativamente a la trama y satura al que la ve. En general la serie me encantó, pero esa última temporada me bajó un poco de la nube.

Si algo la caracteriza, es por esos momentos emocionantes y secuencias de acción bien coreografiadas que mantienen la adrenalina alta. La relación entre los personajes, especialmente las parejas que se forman durante el atraco, agrega un elemento humano a la historia que te hace conectar con ellos; es tal la empatía que los vez como las víctimas. La elección de la máscara de Salvador Dalí es un símbolo de la serie que le da un toque único.

Money Heist also touches on interesting themes, such as economic inequality and the struggle against the system. These themes give the series a depth that goes beyond a simple heist.

This is a series that had an impressive start, but as it progresses, it becomes more complex and, at times, implausible. While it has charismatic characters and exciting moments, I can't help but think it could have been less reliant on plot twists. Despite its flaws, it is my favorite heist series. And in Spain I would rank it as one of the great productions after Aida.

La Casa de Papel también toca temas interesantes, como la desigualdad económica y la lucha contra el sistema. Estos temas le dan a la serie una profundidad que va más allá de un simple atraco.

Esta es una serie que tuvo un comienzo impresionante, pero que a medida que avanza, se vuelve más compleja y, en ocasiones, inverosímil. Aunque tiene personajes carismáticos y momentos emocionantes, no puedo evitar pensar que podría haber sido menos dependiente de los giros argumentales. A pesar de sus defectos, es mi serie de robo preferida. Y en España la ubicaría como una de las grandes producciones después de Aida.
