Yo no sé cuántas veces le he comentado que no soy una persona de ver películas, pero si hay momentos en donde ciertas películas me llaman bastante la atención, así que siento que es una señal de la vida, que me dice que es el momento de verlas. Hace un par de meses, cuando estaba de moda House of the Dragon, yo estuve pagando la suscripción de HBO. Y si bien traté de ver algunas series, no tuve mucho éxito más allá de repetir por enésima vez Diarios de Vampiros y Los Originales, porque para qué negarlo. Pero debo decir que sí vi un par de películas, especialmente una que le tenía ganas de hace rato: las dos películas de Dune. Yo conocí esta saga por el protagonista, ya que a mí me fascina Timothée Chalamet. No les voy a mentir, para mí ese hombre es precioso y perfecto, así que cada película de él que llame mi atención, yo la voy a ver.

I don't know how many times I've told you that I'm not a movie person, but there are times when certain movies catch my attention, so I feel like it's a sign from life, telling me it's time to watch them. A couple of months ago, when House of the Dragon was all the rage, I was paying for an HBO subscription. And while I tried to watch a few series, I didn't have much success beyond repeating Vampire Diaries and The Originals for the umpteenth time, because why deny it. But I must say that I did watch a couple of movies, especially one I've been looking forward to for a long time: the two Dune movies. I knew this saga because of the main character, since I am fascinated by Timothée Chalamet. I'm not going to lie to you, for me that man is gorgeous and perfect, so every movie of his that catches my attention, I'm going to see it.

Así que vamos a empezar este primer punto comentándoles que la actuación de Chalamet para mí fue perfecta y no acepto ninguna crítica negativa. Creo que me gustó muchísimo su personaje, que obviamente es principal, cómo transmitió las emociones, cómo hacía los diálogos y todo este tema de las visiones, o sea, cómo fue la interpretación de Timothee. A mí la verdad me gustó muchísimo. No sé si haya más fanáticos de esta saga, que sería de libros, evidentemente, que podrán decirnos que no fue un buen Paul Atreides, a mí me gustó muchísimo y es lo que tengo que destacar. Por otro lado, la historia principal, yo debo decir que al principio no lograba entenderla. Sentí que en la primera película me costaba mucho entender el hilo de las cosas y sentí que quizás era porque yo no había leído el libro. Yo soy una persona que ama leer y que prioriza siempre leer los libros y luego ver las películas, pero aquí me gana un poco más el fanatismo y como en teoría las películas son hechas para que tú puedas entenderlas sin necesidad de leer el libro, decidí verla así.

I think I really liked his character, which is obviously the main character, how he transmitted the emotions, how he did the dialogues and this whole issue of visions, that is, how Timothee's interpretation was. I really liked it a lot. I don't know if there are other fans of this saga, which would be books, obviously, who could tell us that he was not a good Paul Atreides, but I liked it very much and that's what I have to emphasize. On the other hand, the main story, I must say that at the beginning I couldn't understand it. I felt that in the first movie I had a hard time understanding the thread of things and I felt that maybe it was because I had not read the book. I am a person who loves to read and who always prioritizes reading the books and then watching the movies, but here I am a little more fanatic and since in theory the movies are made so that you can understand them without having to read the book, I decided to watch it that way.

Voy a tratar de contarles de qué va esta película sin hacerles muchos spoilers y tratando de utilizar los términos correctos porque, como les dije, me costó bastante entenderlo. Esta es la historia de Paul Atreides. Esta historia se centra en un planeta llamado Arrakis, un lugar lleno de arena, bastante desértico y con una especia que es una sustancia que digamos que da vitalidad. Al principio se puede entender que esta saga tiene bastante de guerra política, porque hay sospechas entre las grandes casas. Está la casa Harkonnen, está la casa Atreides, también están los Fremen, y hay una cuestión ahí como una lucha de poder, y el duque, que sería el padre de Paul Atreides, se le ve la preocupación por llevar la fiesta en paz, básicamente tratar de hacer las paces en este planeta.

Por otro lado, tenemos a la madre de Paul, Jessica, que es una Bene Gesserit. Y esta hermandad, digamos que tiene ciertas habilidades mentales, también físicas, y ellas tratan de preservar el futuro, de manipularlo, y también tienen muchísimo conocimiento. Todas son mujeres y tienen que cumplir órdenes específicas. Al principio yo no entendía absolutamente nada de esto, pero tuve que leer un poco para poder lograrlo. Paul es un chico que obedece, es entrenado, tiene sus visiones y desde el principio se nota que hay una preocupación por eso, especialmente su mamá Jessica está bastante escéptica. Y pasan un montón de cosas hasta llegar al momento en donde al duque lo asesinan y Paul, junto con su madre, deben huir y aliarse con los Fremen, que son los nativos de este planeta.

And a lot of things happen until we get to the moment where the duke is assassinated and Paul, along with his mother, must flee and ally with the Fremen, who are the natives of this planet.

Mientras que Paul está en el desierto con los Fremen, los Harkonnen los persiguen para matarlos. Ellos piensan que lo hicieron, pero la verdad es que Paul sobrevive, evidentemente, porque si no no habría protagonista, y trata de buscarse un lugar. Él estaba con miedo debido a las visiones que tenía, que no les voy a contar de qué era, pero llegaba un momento en donde como que va aceptando poco a poco lo que tiene que hacer, incluso se gana un nombre entre los Fremen, también se enamora de una chica y va tratando de sobrevivir hasta que llega el punto en donde tiene que aceptar que él tiene un futuro como el Mesías y también como el hijo del duque. Y ya esto es para la segunda película, pero es parte de la historia sin spoiler. Digamos que Paul acepta que él es el heredero del duque y él quiere liberar a la gente, quiere luchar por eso y obviamente eso lo lleva a ser un poco más agresivo, a tomar ciertas decisiones. Y siento que la segunda película terminó bastante bien, me gustó, me intriga, me dejó con ganas de más. Y eso es algo que yo agradezco enormemente en las películas, porque cuando tienen un final muy simple, cuando son sagas, no dan ganas de ver la siguiente película, pero en esta sí me gustó cómo terminó.

And this is for the second movie, but it is part of the story without spoilers. Let's say Paul accepts that he is the heir of the duke and he wants to free the people, he wants to fight for that and obviously that leads him to be a little bit more aggressive, to make certain decisions. And I feel like the second movie ended pretty well, I liked it, it intrigued me, it left me wanting more. And that's something that I greatly appreciate in movies, because when they have a very simple ending, when they are sagas, they don't make you want to see the next movie, but in this one I liked how it ended.

Debo decir que esta no es la mejor reseña que les he hecho, pero quería contarles que había visto esta película y bueno, estas dos películas, y la verdad es que me habían gustado muchísimo, simplemente no me sé explicar por qué. Es por eso que quería transmitirles las pocas cosas que me habían gustado, más allá de hacer una reseña, estilo, resumen, que es como yo suelo hacerlas. Espero que la tercera película no tarde demasiado en llegar porque estoy con muchas ganas de saber qué va a pasar. En otros momentos diría que le haría los libros, pero honestamente no tengo tanto tiempo para hacerlo. Estoy muy comprometida con la fantasía y estoy dudosa sobre esta historia porque no sé si los libros están completos, cuál es la forma oficial de leerlo, si la historia principal tiene un fin, porque se caen un montón de historias como secundarias. Entonces, honestamente, tengo un tema ahí con los libros, pero no niego que en algún futuro los pueda leer porque la verdad es que es una historia bastante interesante. Espero que les haya encantado conocer mis opiniones acerca de estas dos películas. Nos leemos pronto!

I must say that this is not the best review I have done, but I wanted to tell you that I had seen this movie and well, these two movies, and the truth is that I liked them very much, I just do not know how to explain why. That's why I wanted to tell you the few things that I liked, beyond making a review, style, summary, which is how I usually do them. I hope the third movie won't be too long in coming because I'm really looking forward to find out what's going to happen. At other times I would say I would do the books, but honestly I don't have that much time to do that. I'm very committed to fantasy and I'm hesitant about this story because I don't know if the books are complete, what's the official way to read it, if the main story has an end, because a lot of stories fall out as side stories. So, honestly, I have an issue there with the books, but I don't deny that in some future I might read them because the truth is that it's quite an interesting story.
