[ESP-ENG] Halloween (1978) El fenómeno del cine independiente que creó un imperio del terror. Mi reseña.

Hola amigos de Hive, es un placer estar hoy con ustedes. En esta oportunidad, les traigo mi reseña sobre la cinta Halloween, del año 1978. Un filme que se encuentra a la cabeza, del origen del "Slasher Movies". Una corriente fílmica, que se mete de lleno en el terror y el gore. Un género que marcó pautas y clichés a la hora de hacer cine del horror. Sin más dilación, comencemos.

A film that is at the forefront, from the origin of the "Slasher Movies". A film current, which gets fully into terror and gore. A genre that set standards and clichés when making horror movies. Without further ado, let's get started.

¿De que va la película?

La película está dividida en tres arcos fundamentales. El primero, nos narra los horribles acontecimientos que sucedieron en el Halloween de 1963 en la ciudad de Haddonfield , dónde un infante; Michael Myers, asesina a su hermana a sangre fría. Tras este acontecimiento, el niño es recluido, y no volvemos a saber de él hasta su fuga de un instituto mental. Alarmando considerablemente a su médico personal, el doctor Loomis.

What is the film about?

The film is divided into three main arcs. The first tells us about the horrible events that happened on Halloween in 1963 in the city of Haddonfield, where an infant; Michael Myers, murders his sister in cold blood. After this event, the child is confined, and we do not hear from him again until his escape from a mental institute. Significantly alarming his personal physician, Dr. Loomis.

El segundo arco, da inicio cuando llegamos al Halloween de 1978. Donde la casa abandonada de los Myers, se encuentra siendo el refugio de Michael tras su fuga. Acá comenzará una obsesión de Myers por el personaje de Laurie y los que la rodean. Comenzando a acosarla, en cada rincón al que se mueva. ¿Cuál fue la recepción y aporte de este filme?

La película arrasó completamente, superando cualquier expectativa inicial. Los datos lo avalan, de un coste de producción de tan solo 300 mil dólares, esta puesta cinematográfica recaudó 70 millones de dólares. Es importante recordar, que esta era una producción independiente del director John Carpenter, por lo cual marcó un antes y un después en el cine de carácter independiente.

What was the reception and contribution of this film?

Crítica Personal

Siendo objetivos, Carpenter creó esta película utilizando recursos muy visibles de filmes cómo Psicosis o la Masacre de Texas. Solo hay que ver las referencias en el cuchillo, o la silla que se asemeja a la utilizadas en las antes mencionadas, dónde reposaban las figuras paternas del asesino en cuestión. En este caso, la silla está vacía y pertenece a las presuntas víctimas, una suerte de "easter egg" bonito. Que cae de nuevo, en la reinterpretación del imaginario colectivo, del asesino serial real Ed Gein.

Personal criticism

Being objective, Carpenter created this film using highly visible resources from films like Psycho or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Acá la película inexplicablemente, carece de sangre. Muertes bastante sobre actuadas, y con cuerpos completamente vacíos. Como si una rajada en la garganta, no expulsara el líquido rojo característico. Se podría justificar, con que es algo de bajo presupuesto, pero se siente muy incongruente. Y le resta al aura del monstruo asesino que estamos viendo. Algo que si le funciona muy bien a Jason (Viernes 13) en comparación a Michael.

Sin embargo, la banda sonora es la verdadera dinamita de esta producción. Y la que salva en parte, las carencias gráficas y visuales. Un efecto sobrecogedor e intimidante, es la tónica de la melodía del filme. Que se aleja del ruido de la Masacre de Texas o el sin sabor sonoro de otros filmes. Acá rinde culto y homenaje a Psicosis en ese aspecto. Pero sin llegar a ser un plagio, ya que aporta un tema escabroso y mentalmente desequilibrado. No solo es música para matar, es música para tener miedo y respeto al asesino. Cada vez que comience, sabrás que Myers está en camino.

En resumen, la película logra crear algo completamente nuevo. Un nuevo arte, sanguinario, pero en definitiva cine. Que termina por explicar, porque esta clase de audiovisuales, se volvieron tan rentables en taquilla y un verdadero imperio millonario, a la hora de crear sagas del horror.
