¿Hay un género de películas que te hagan no querer ver la película? Para algunos, casi siempre, es la ciencia ficción, para otros (principalmente chicas), es el terror, y para mí, los musicales. La verdad no sé porque los musicales son contados como un género, si es más una herramienta para contar una historia, así como podría ser la animación; los musicales pueden ser de terror, de suspenso, de drama, de comedia o de romance. Aunque esto es cierto, la verdad es que la mayoría del tiempo son usados para el romance y terminan siendo un poco muy empalagosos, sin embargo, hace unos días logré ver por primera vez Mamma Mia y creó en mí la necesidad de hacer unas recomendaciones de musicales que me parecen realmente perfectas:

Is there a movie genre that makes you not want to watch the movie? For some, almost always, it's science fiction, for others mostly girls, is horror, and for me, musicals. I really don't know why musicals are counted as a genre, if it's more of a storytelling tool, just as animation could be; musicals can be horror, suspense, drama, comedy or romance. Although this is true, the truth is that most of the time they are used for romance and end up being a bit too cloying, however, a few days ago I managed to see Mamma Mia for the first time and it created in me the need to make some recommendations of musicals that I think are really perfect:
El show de terror de Rocky
Siempre, SIEMPRE que pueda voy a recomendar esta película, y es que Tim Curry hace uno de los papeles más divertidos e icónicos en la historia del cine. Una película transgresora, divertida, terrorífica y adelantada a su época que se puede disfrutar en cualquier momento (pero sobre todo en Halloween) es una película que merece ser comentada todas las veces posibles. Pero bueno, aquí lo importante es hablar de la trama, que sigue a una pareja de recién casados que llega a una mansión muy extraña dónde son recibidos por unas personas pintorescas y a partir de ahí la película despliega un sinfín de extravagancias que, para la época, fueron básicamente algo nunca antes visto.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
I will always, ALWAYS recommend this movie, because Tim Curry plays one of the funniest and most iconic roles in the history of cinema. A transgressive, funny, terrifying and ahead of its time movie that can be enjoyed at any time (but especially on Halloween) is a movie that deserves to be commented as many times as possible. But well, here the important thing is to talk about the plot, which follows a newlywed couple who arrive at a very strange mansion where they are greeted by some colorful people and from there the film unfolds a host of extravagances that, for the time, were basically something never seen before.
Rocketman
Poco se habla de uno de las mejores biopics del cine. Las películas que cuentan la historia de un cantante no suelen ser MUY buenas, muchas veces porque buscan blanquear la historia del artista o porque tratan de hacer algo más para los fans que una buena película en general. Hay ejemplos de todo tipo, cómo la película de Queen o la película de Elvis, que pueden amar u odiar, pero lo cierto es que ninguna tiene el alma que tiene Rocketman, que además de ser una excelente película, busca la forma de contar una increíble historia de vida con altos y bajos a base de un musical perfectamente actuado por el grandioso Taron Egerton, un actor que, más allá de lo increíble que es su actuación en esta película, está muy infravalorado.

Little is said about one of the best biopics in cinema. Movies that tell the story of a singer are usually not VERY good, often because they seek to whitewash the artist's story or because they try to do something more for the fans than a good movie in general. There are examples of all kinds, like the Queen movie or the Elvis movie, that you can love or hate, but the truth is that none of them have the soul that Rocketman has, which besides being an excellent movie, seeks to tell an incredible life story with highs and lows based on a musical perfectly acted by the great Taron Egerton, an actor who, beyond how incredible his performance in this movie is, is very underrated.
Mamma Mia
Bueno, si tuve la idea de hacer estas recomendaciones debido a esta película, no incluirla me parece como todo un delito. Además de ser tan importante como lo fué en su momento, y aprovechando que el próximo año se estrena la tercera entrega, tengo que admitir que Mamma Mia me gustó mucho más de lo que esperaba, y eso que siento que es una película muy tonta. Y es por eso que me gusta tanto, porque sabe ser una película tonta, una película que te abraza y que te dice que todo estará bien, como muchas otras películas, puede ser, pero ninguna como Mamma Mia, ¿por qué? Porque ninguna de esas películas tiene a Meryl Streep cantando a todo pulmón los mayores éxitos de Abba.

Well, if I had the idea of making these recommendations because of this movie, not including it seems like a crime to me. Besides being as important as it was at the time, and taking advantage of the fact that next year the third installment will be released, I have to admit that I liked Mamma Mia much more than I expected, and I feel it is a very silly movie. And that's why I like it so much, because it knows how to be a silly movie, a movie that hugs you and tells you that everything will be fine, like many other movies, maybe, but none like Mamma Mia, why? Because none of those movies has Meryl Streep singing at the top of her lungs Abba's greatest hits.
