El séptimo sello es una de las películas más alabadas por la crítica y la audiencia en la historia. Un antes y después en la historia del cine y cómo me encanta el cine, decidí verla hace unos días. Una película sobre la muerte y la religión, que nos muestra a un caballero que antes de morir decide jugar ajedrez con la muerte; con esto en la primera escena, realmente creí que vería una película existencial sobre alguien hablando con la muerte, pero fue más allá: el séptimo sello es una película religiosa e increíblemente bien hecha, pero a pesar de todos los puntos buenos que tiene, no me gustó. Estoy cansado de ese tipo de películas de culto, no son mi tipo, y las películas religiosas tienen un estigma muy interesante, pero para romper eso, vengo aquí a hablar de unas películas sobre religión que sinceramente, son tan buenas como cualquier otra película.

The Seventh Seal is one of the most critically and audience praised films in history. A before and after in the history of cinema and as I love movies, I decided to watch it a few days ago. A movie about death and religion, showing us a gentleman who before dying decides to play chess with death; with this in the first scene, I really thought I would see an existential movie about someone talking to death, but it went beyond: the seventh seal is a religious movie and incredibly well done, but despite all the good points it has, I didn't like it. I'm tired of those kind of cult movies, they're not my type, and religious movies have a very interesting stigma, but to break that, I come here to talk about some movies about religion that honestly, are as good as any other movie.

Martin Scorsese es de mis directores favoritos y la historia de esta película me parece sorprendente. Scorsese nació y creció con una familia sumamente religiosa y eso lo dejó plasmado en muchas de sus películas, pero fue cuando Scorsese trabajó con Kurosawa (otro de mis directores favoritos) que este le dio un libro sobre religión y una historia que le fascinó a Scorsese, fue ahí cuando el decidió llevar al cine la historia de los dos padres portugueses que viajan a Japón para encontrar a su mentor, mientras que se encuentran con una odisea que los hará dudar de su fe y de la esperanza en la humanidad. Con un reparto increíble que tiene entre sus protagonistas a Adam Driver, Andrew Garfield y Liam Neeson, es sin duda una de las mejores películas de Martin Scorsese, y eso es decir mucho.

Martin Scorsese is one of my favorite directors and I find the story of this film amazing. Scorsese was born and raised in a very religious family and that was reflected in many of his films, but it was when Scorsese worked with Kurosawa (another of my favorite directors) that he gave him a book about religion and a story that fascinated Scorsese, that's when he decided to bring to film the story of two Portuguese parents who travel to Japan to find their mentor, while they encounter an odyssey that will make them doubt their faith and hope in humanity. With an incredible cast that includes Adam Driver, Andrew Garfield and Liam Neeson, it is undoubtedly one of Martin Scorsese's best films, and that's saying a lot.
El Crimen del Padre Amaro
El cine está lleno de historia, y la historia está llena de cine. El crimen del padre Amaro es una película interesante tanto fuera como dentro de cámaras, ya que la iglesia trató de prohibirla y el Instituto Mexicano de Cine también tuvo la misma idea, sin embargo se logró estrenar y fue la películas más taquillera de México por mucho tiempo. Una historia sobre un Padre que pierde su moral al pensar en el aborto como una solución no gustó mucho a la iglesia, pero si a la audiencia que vio, en esta película, una realidad mostrada con un joven Gael Garcia en uno de sus mejores papeles hasta ahora.
The Crime of Father Amaro
Cinema is full of history, and history is full of cinema. El crimen del padre Amaro is an interesting film both on and off camera, as the church tried to ban it and the Mexican Film Institute also had the same idea, however it was released and was the highest grossing film in Mexico for a long time. A story about a father who loses his morals when he thinks of abortion as a solution was not very well received by the church, but it was by the audience who saw, in this film, a reality shown with a young Gael Garcia in one of his best roles so far.
La última tentación de Cristo
Otra vez Scorsese, pues sí. Pero esta vez no es una película sobre cómo la fe afecta a las personas, sino cómo la fe afectó a Jesucristo. En algún momento de mi vida siempre pensé en lo difícil que fue, si es que existió, el ser el salvador y el hijo de Dios, ¿cómo es posible que una persona pueda mantener una vida sin pecado y ser tan pura de corazón? Es porque no se puede, pero eso no quiere decir que pierda su mérito. La última tentación de Cristo se ganó el odio de los religiosos por mostrar a Cristo como una persona que dudaba de su fe y destino, pero ganó muchos más fan acérrimos al mostrar otra cara de Cristo. Una más humana, una llena de empatía y amor.
The Last Temptation of Christ
Scorsese again, yes. But this time it's not a movie about how faith affects people, but how faith affected Jesus Christ. At some point in my life I always thought about how difficult it was, if it existed, to be the savior and the son of God, how is it possible that a person can maintain a sinless life and be so pure of heart? It is because it cannot, but that does not mean that it loses its merit. The Last Temptation of Christ earned the hatred of the religious for showing Christ as a person who doubted his faith and destiny, but it won many more diehard fans by showing another face of Christ. A more human one, one full of empathy and love.
