People still feel bored these days?

One day last week, I was talking to a friend, and along the way, we started sharing how we spent our day. She pointed out that she was bored throughout and wanted to go out, but she couldn't. I was a bit surprised because it seemed unbelievable to me that people still feel bored in this modern age. Come on, there are just so many things to do that make people wish for the weekend to come faster so they can rest. No lies, I know there are people out there doing nothing because they already have everything they need, but I didn't expect that number to be significant, let alone for my friend to be among them.

As for me, the last time I felt bored was when I was in school, and that was many years ago. Not in this age where people can keep themselves busy or even earn a living without stepping out of their homes. Back then, it was different; all I had to pass the time was social media and movies.

Honestly, I can't imagine someone staying idle and not finding ways to earn online in this modern age. Even the social media platforms we used to just pass time with back in the day now pay creators, so why would anyone be bored? Why not make the effort to join those who are earning, instead of just scrolling, watching videos, and laughing?

Nevertheless, here are some of the things I used to do back then to kill boredom:

Movies: Back in those days, I had all the time to myself, with no activities lined up, and movies were my go-to activity. I used to be, and still am, a movie fanatic. Whenever boredom struck, I would immediately dive into the series I was watching. If I didn’t have any pending series, I’d go and download a new one. Of course, most of my boredom times were not days I was broke. I always made sure I had enough for data subscription to avoid even more boredom because, imagine wanting to watch a movie but not having the data to download it – that would be heartbreaking. Yes, I don't do netflix, I download to watch🧐

Once I found an interesting series, I could stay in my room for 12 hours straight without worrying about anything. Movies helped me kill boredom quickly because they take time, especially the longer series. Before I knew it, it would already be evening or night.

Social Media: Social media should probably come first, but no – I usually prioritized movies over social media. Social media mostly involves scrolling, and I could get tired of it quickly, especially if I wasn’t coming across interesting posts. I didn’t chat much, as it felt exhausting, except if I was talking to someone I was interested in and who had a good sense of humor.

Food: Food was a must when I was bored. I ate a lot, and on such days, the kitchen was always open.

Sleeping? I would add sleeping, but no – I didn’t sleep even though it’s one of those activities that can reduce the feeling of boredom. If I napped, I would wake up feeling useless. You know that feeling when you’re supposed to do something important but end up sleeping? It’s that sense of regret. That’s how I felt if I napped on an unproductive day.

Thanks for reading.

Lol, do people still feel bored? While some of us wish our days can move from 24 hours to 48 hours.

The only thing that will make me feel bored these days is if I do not have electricity to power my phone.

You have to onboard your friend to the hive, hehe.

That's just it. The day is too short that we're always begging for extra time to finish up the day's tasks 😅

But then, there are a lot of people out there who are just lazy to get along with beneficial things... especially on phone.

Thank you for stopping by

It's kind of crazy to think that, really, with so much to do these days, someone can still get bored. But if we stop to observe, sometimes the fact of spending hours and hours on our phones is like a hidden kind of boredom

Ummmmm... This is a nice point. But the boredom won't be the real boredom if the things done on phone are likened to be a work, I meant it money is coming from it😅
