CineTV contest: Dead City

Hello everyone!

Being a hardcore fan of The Walking Dead Universe, the only movie that came to my mind when I saw this prompt was Dead City, a spin-off of The Walking Dead series. It's funny how I can never stop talking about this TV series because it's among my favorites, and the fact that it's still in production makes it even more interesting.

Even before this prompt, I paid close attention to the plot of the series, especially how New York City was the big target of the story, hence the title Dead City. Although I have never been to New York, I knew just a little about it from documentaries and articles I have read. So, most of the places used were not familiar to me until I did some research and found that they were real.

One of the things I keep applauding the producers for is their perfection in costume design and environmental detail. Since it's a post-apocalyptic show, the way they depict an abandoned and desolate environment is incredibly accurate.

The movie starts with Maggie hunting for Negan because, according to her, she needs him to help rescue her son, Hershel, who was kidnapped by a former friend of Negan. To do this, they must cross a sea full of the living dead(walkers) to reach Manhattan (New York City).

They crossed the sea, arrived in the city, and found everything completely lifeless. The famous bridge in New York had collapsed into two halves, towering buildings were entirely occupied by the living dead (walkers), and they were falling to the ground as if dropping from the sky. The city was truly dead.

The agreement between Maggie and Negan to go to Manhattan wasn't an easy one considering how deep their enemity is. You'll understand this more if you watched the main series.

The journey was brutal. A group from Babylon—yes, the real Babylon—was also hunting for Negan because, according to them, he had killed their magistrate and four other men, violating their code of law. As a result, they wanted him dead.

Croat, whose name originates from Croatian, was Maggie and Negan's main target since he had taken Hershel hostage. However, they were unaware that Croat had a more powerful boss who actually wanted Negan to take over and rule the city due to his fearless reputation, especially based on what he did in the early days when the world turned sour.

The plot is filled with suspense and unexpected twists, making it impossible to predict where the story is headed, which makes it all the more interesting.

As I mentioned earlier, I did not know much about New York, so I researched and discovered that, indeed, every bit of the series was shot in New York City, especially the subway scenes where Maggie and her team encountered giant walkers—the kind they had never seen since the beginning of the dead world.

Perhaps because I love seeing Negan the most, this spin-off has become my favorite among The Walking Dead spin-offs. The most spine-tingling and eye-catching moment for me was when the SAVIORS' WHISTLING was used. OMG! That brought back so many memories of the days of the SAVIORS.

AMC Trailer:

Also, the old Negan is making a comeback in Season 2, along with his Lucille. We just can't wait for Season 2 to air!

I'm giving this 9.8/10

Thanks for reading.

I watched the walking dead a long time ago and it was very interesting. If this falls in the category of horror movies, then I would go check it out. So, does it?

Where did you stop because I'm Sensing you didn't finish the series.
Do well to start again or atleast from season 6 to the end(11) before going into this Dead City.

Confused already?😅
That series is too broad.

Thanks for stopping by

I am a lover of zombie movies, like world warZ, all of us are dead and many more but I haven't seen this one.. I don't know if this film is hyped or it really is interesting. I have seen a lot of advert and franchise about it but I haven't watched it, I should do some time.

I watched World WarZ but don't know know part because it seems it has many parts. All of Us Are Dead; we are waiting for the next season.

This one, the only way to enjoy it to the core is watching completely the main series, The Walking Dead.
