Oppenheimer - A History Of The Making of Prometheus America and The Downfall
Though I saw what the internet shared that this movie was shot within 2 months time plus there were no CGI involved, it got me the urge to watch it first hand through IMAX. Just got to see the movie just now with my wife and I would say Christopher Nolan did nail how to professionally and dramatically portrays a historical figure in such intriguing way.
First off, the shots and acting were on the spot whereby we can see lots of A-list actors like Cillian, Robert, Emily and even the MARS guy Matt Damon played well. So just to refrain myself for not having any spoiler (though this is a historical documentary movie, so technically there shouldn't be any spoilers available since it is a fact) but I would like to highlight a few points that I like this movie.
The fact that I wanted to watch this is I look forward to seeing how Chris recreate the Trinity test bomb scene. Definitely it won't be detonating the real bomb but the way I watched it, it was cleverly shot and all the impact from the bomb were very well visualized and translated to our senses as audience.
Then, there were the brilliant minds working together in this 2 billion dollar project which is to me one of the largest collaborations in history between scientists all around the world. The few scenes where I see famous names popping up like Neils Bohr, Albert Einstein, Werner Heisenberg (haha not the breaking bad one) get me excited as well. It is like studying the boring history during my secondary school days and now I could travel back in time and really see behind the scenes how this important event happens.
Also, the movie also showed us how a man without a true purpose could be destroyed. It reminds me that without a stronghold of heart and the WHY, you could be easily swayed by others with more influence and become a puppet to others. I also saw how ego could blind a man, even those who are highly intelligent and successful. Hence, this is a also a reminder on how we should always cross check ourselves to be humble and grateful.
Lastly, to also highlight how nuclear warfare change the political scene of the world to what it is today. Of course, now we are looking into another era probably (maybe AI? Tech?). With nuclear warheads, countries stay in put and maintain peace between themselves. These are also international politics that we could learn deeper too from the movie.
All in all, this movie is worth watching for several times to really grasp the essence and remember all great minds come with responsibility.
