La Sirenita no me decepcionó
¡Hola hivers!
Hi Hivers! I know I've been a little absent, but my internet connection hasn't been the best, but, now that everything is fine, I bring you this review about "The Little Mermaid", one of the most controversial movies in history and that, whether you're a fan or not, you've had to hear about it and read a thousand and one comments about it. I saw it, and I have a lot to say about that movie, clarifying at once that I'm not going to say anything about the controversy of the skin color of the actress and all that.
First of all, I have to say that "The Little Mermaid" (the animated movie), is one of my favorite movies in the world and Ariel is my favorite Disney princess, since I was a kid I love that movie, its songs and Ariel's personality, so I had a lot of expectations with this live action. In general terms, Halle Bailey's performance as Ariel was very good, she really got into the character and I could perceive the innocence, sweetness and some rebelliousness of the animated Ariel, she studied the role very well and her voice is something from another world, when she sang "Part of your world", I was going to cry because of how beautiful the scene is, an incredible performance!
I also liked the rest of the characters (some more than others), Prince Erick has more relevance in this live action and his story is good, he complements Ariel a lot and both actors have very good chemistry. I also liked the characters of Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle and the character of Triton was more of the same, but there was a very good performance. The new character, Erick's mom, I didn't pay that much attention to her, but she was a good complement to Erick's character.
I really enjoyed the songs, the musicals were just as I remembered them in the animated movie, there were three new songs that are not in the animated movie and of those two I really liked: when Ariel becomes human that the song is her thoughts, it was very good and Sebastian and Scuttle's song made me laugh a lot.
Now, let's go with what I didn't like, first I have to talk about that, certainly, some scenes looked very dark and for wanting to make it as real as possible, some fish or other sea creatures did not look striking to the eye, they would have developed the CGI better so that the result would have been different. On the other hand, the character of Ursula disappointed me a little, and not because of the acting because Melissa McCarthy is an amazing actress, but I feel that her character did not have the relevance she has in the original, she was very very secondary and did not have a relevant arc or story, it was a waste because she is my favorite Disney villain and I expected a lot from that character.
¿Te gustó o no? ¡Te leo en los comentarios!
Another thing I didn't understand was Ariel's sisters, they were given a lot of promotion, they even had a poster just for them and they were not relevant at all in the plot, they literally appeared in three or four scenes and that's it. The scene where Ariel and Erick were supposed to kiss for the first time, the little participation of Vanessa, Erick's new song, and the final battle with Ursula are other scenes that I didn't like.
As for the rest, I thought it was an incredible movie, there are more good things than bad, the ending made me want to cry and the detail that this time it was Ariel who kills Ursula seemed to me the most accurate. It is not my favorite live action, but it is very good, my final score is 7.5/10 Did you see it? Did you like it or not? I'll read you in the comments!
