Dwell in madness.
The world of cinema often likes to show our weaknesses, our hidden fantasies and to portray fear often as it is least predictable.

Roman Polanski for some is a man who fled the US while being accused, for others he is a director who during his heyday released many films that became classics like Rosmere's Baby.

The Tenant is a film based on Roland Topor's book. Polanski took the whole concept and set it in France, adding a dash of madness.

The film opens with a scene of a young girl jumping from a window. As viewers, we don't know why this happened and what led the girl to such an extreme decision.
After a while we meet our main character Trelkovsky (played by Polanski), who is looking for a flat. As chance would have it, the flat where the tragedy occurred is now vacant and she can move in there.

Trelkovsky's life seems simple. He has an ordinary job, normal friends who have bawdy jokes and he tries to be nice.
However, when he moves to a new flat, he slowly changes, first by the fact that he has to comply with various rules and regulations, and then by the fact that he begins to wonder if he is not becoming another victim of the residents.

Day after day slowly begins to spiral out of control. Little things start to turn into something on an unimaginable scale.

The film perfectly depicts the madness in the flat, where the madness slowly but gradually starts to progress and put the protagonist as well as the viewer into madness mode, causing us to wonder what is wrong with the protagonist's neighbours, whether they are delusional or perhaps another victim of the flat.

The Tenant is a stage where at first everything seems normal, and this normality is the key to understanding the entire film. The first part shows the protagonist trying to adapt to the prevailing realities of living in an old block of flats, the second half is a struggle not only with the neighbours, but with himself. Sacrificing everything to escape reality.

Polanski plays here a Polish immigrant living in France, and here he convincingly plays the slow stage of psychosis from a normal man falling into extremity, just showing how interesting and powerful the subject of the illness of living in a block of flats with neighbours who can often spoil the blood.

Isabelle Adjani also gave a great performance as the protagonist's friend and former colleague of the deceased tenant.
I recommend watching it, although it is signed as a comedy on many sites, but believe me this work is closer to a horror film than to a typical comedy.

Zamieszkaj w szaleństwie.
Świat kina lubi ukazywać często nasze słabości, nasze skrywane fantazje oraz ukazywać strach często taki jaki jest najmniej przewidywalny.
Roman Polanski dla jednych to człowiek, który uciekł z USA będąc oskarżonym, dla innych to reżyser, który w czasie swojej świetności wypuścił wiele filmów, które stały się klasykami jak Dziecko Rosmery.

Lokator to film na postawie książki Rolanda Topora. Polanski wziął cały koncept i umiejscowił we Francji dodając tez szczyptę szaleństwa.
Film rozpoczyna się scena skoku z okna młodej dziewczyny. Jako widzowie nie wiemy czemu tak się stało i co doprowadziło dziewczynę do tak skrajnej decyzji.
Po chwili poznajemy naszego głównego bohatera Trelkovsky( grany przez Polańskiego) który szuka mieszkania. Traf chciał, ze akurat w mieszkaniu, gdzie doszło do tragedii jest ono teraz wolne i może się tam wprowadzić.

Życie Trelkovskyego wydaje się proste. Ma zwykła prace, normalnych znajomych, którzy maja sprośne żarty i próbuje być miły.
Zakochuje się tez w koleżance lokatorki, która popełniła samobójstwo, Jednak przeprowadzka do nowego mieszkania powoduje, ze powoli się zmienia, pierw przez fakt ze musi przestrzegać ciągłych różnych regulaminów, później zaś zaczyna zastanawiać się czy nie zaczyna być kolejna ofiara mieszkańców. Dzień za dniem powoli zaczyna się wymykać spod kontroli. Małe rzeczy zaczynaja zmieniać się w coś na niewyobrażalna skale.

Film idealnie pokazuje szaleństwo w mieszkaniu gdzie obled powoli ale sukcesywnie zaczyna postępować i wprowadzać bohatera jak i widza w tryb szaleństwa powodując, ze sami zaczynamy zastanawiać się co jest nie tak z sąsiadami głównego bohatera, czy to urojenia czy może kolejna ofiara mieszkania.

Lokator to stadium gdzie początkowo wydaje się wszystko normalne i ta normalność jest tutaj kluczem zrozumienia całego filmu pierwsza cześć pokazuje jak bohater stara się przystosować do panujących realiów mieszkania w starym bloku, druga połowa to już walka nie tylko z sąsiadami, ale z samym sobą. Poświęcenie wszystkiego by uciec od rzeczywistości.
Polanski gra tutaj polskiego imigranta zamieszkałego w Francji i gra tutaj przekonująco powolne stadium psychozy z normalnego człowieka popadajacego w skrajność, tylko pokazuje jak interesujący i mocny jest temat choroby mieszkania w bloku z sąsiadami, którzy często potrafią napsuć krwi.

Swietnie zagrała tez Isabelle Adjani jako przyjaciółka bohatera oraz dawna koleżanka zmarłej lokatorki.
Polecam obejrzeć choć w wielu serwisach jest podpisywany jako komedia, to uwierzcie mi bliżej temu dziełu do horroru niż do typowej komedii.
