Winding down a family vacation in Norway. I’ve wanted to go for several years. I’m only 25% Norwegian, but it’s the only part of my heritage that I know anything about. Many years ago I read some family history going back to 1849 when my 3x-great grandparents came to America. I’ve done more research in recent years and been able to add some more color to the picture, figuratively…and now, literally, thanks to this trip.

I’ll post in 3 parts over the next few days. Part One: Bergen. It’s the second largest city in Norway, and the main city in western Norway (Vestland), the region where my ancestors came from.
