Welcome my dear internet traveling aliens and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, from time to time I like to watch an old movie for personal pleasure, that is why when I was looking for something with those characteristics I remembered a recommendation that My friend @soltecno asked me a while ago about a science fiction classic titled "The Day the Earth Stood Still" that was cataloged as one of the films that marked a before and after in a genre, with such an ostentatious presentation it was impossible not to give it a chance. Without further ado, prepare to make contact with a new species because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos alienígenas viajeros del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, de vez en cuando me gusta ver una película antigua por mero gusto personal, es por ello que cuando estaba buscando algo con esas características recordé una recomendación que me hizo hace tiempo mi amigo @soltecno sobre un clásico de la ciencia ficción titulado "The Day the Earth Stood Still" que fue catalogado como uno de los filmes que marcó un antes y un después en un género, con esa presentación tan ostentosa era imposible que no le diese una oportunidad. Sin más que agregar prepárense para hacer contacto con una nueva especie pues estamos por comenzar.
The Day the Earth Stood Still was released in 1951, it is based on the short story "Farewell to the Master" published in 1940 by Harry Bates, the film was directed by Robert Wise and produced by 20th Century Fox, it has a duration of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It is a science fiction film, the story takes place in Washington shortly after the Second World War and during the Cold War, in all this conflictive context a UFO is detected flying at an impressive speed, this surprising event is announced by all the means causing a certain level of panic in the population, all of which will increase when said ship lands in a park and a being descends from it with a disconcerting message for a highly fragmented world with many internal conflicts.
The Day the Earth Stood Still fue estrenada en 1951, se encuentra basada en el cuento "Farewell to the Master" publicado en 1940 por Harry Bates, el filme fue dirigido por Robert Wise y producida por 20th Century Fox, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 32 minutos. Es una cinta de ciencia ficción, la historia se desarrolla en Washington poco después de la segunda guerra mundial y durante la guerra fría, en todo este contexto conflictivo se detecta a un OVNI volando a una velocidad impresionante, dicho suceso sorprendente es anunciado por todos los medios provocando cierto nivel de pánico en la población, todo este se acrecentará cuando dicha nave aterricé en un parque y de ella descienda un ser con un mensaje desconcertante para un mundo sumamente fragmentado y con muchos conflictos internos.

The soundtrack is pleasant, it is surprising that with this section the film is able to provide a certain level of intrigue to various scenes, it is nothing extraordinary as such, but it is pleasant in any way.
La banda sonora resulta agradable, es sorprendente que con este apartado el filme sea capaz de dotar de cierto nivel de intriga a diversas escenas, no es nada extraordinario como tal, pero resulta agradable de cualquier forma.
The world building is very accurate for its time, it focuses solely on showing how the various governments are on the defensive and with a lot of distrust due to what happened during ww2 and what was produced by the Cold War, this is used to reinforce the final plot twist so it feels nice. Outside of that there is not much to highlight, the film seeks to show that palpable distrust and caution, causing even any message or emissary that has nothing to do with the conflict to be treated aggressively. The effects are not even remotely something to highlight but taking into account that it is just over 70 years old, one could even say that it is fine by standards of the time.
La construcción de mundo es muy acertada para su tiempo, esta se enfoca únicamente en mostrar como los diversos gobiernos se encuentran a la defensiva y con mucha desconfianza debido a lo acontecido durante ww2 y lo producido por la guerra fría, esto es usado para reforzar el giro final de la trama por lo que se siente agradable. Fuera de ello no hay mucho que destacar, el filme busca evidenciar esa desconfianza y cautela palpable, haciendo que incluso cualquier mensaje o emisario que no tenga nada que ver con el conflicto sea tratado con agresividad. Los efectos no son ni de lejos algo a destacar pero tomando en cuenta que tiene poco más de 70 años se podría decir incluso que está bien para estándares de la época.
The plot has an interesting premise, it seeks to focus solely on how an alien with an important message is treated in a hostile manner. In general, the film seeks to accurately represent all the fractures that wars left in society, being the above which gives a certain interesting touch to the film in general. Narratively the film is simple, it has a message that urges peace and understanding in order to improve the life of the average person, however it does not become preachy, this is because through the actions of the USA the policy is made clear. radical action of shooting and then asking, which indirectly reinforces the film's reflection on the importance of peace and understanding, is something simple but pleasant. The length is a success, it gives it enough time to develop its relatively simple premise but it is not too long to be boring, a perfect balance point.
La trama tiene una premisa interesante, la misma busca enfocarse únicamente en el como un extraterrestre con un mensaje importante es tratado de forma hostil, en general la cinta busca representar de forma acertada todas las fracturas que dejaron las guerras en la sociedad, siendo lo anterior lo que le da cierto toque interesante al filme en general. Narrativamente la cinta es simple, tiene un mensaje que insta a la paz y a la comprensión a fin de mejorar la vida de la persona promedio, no obstante no se torna sermonera, lo anterior se debe a que mediante el actuar de USA queda clara la política radical de disparar y luego preguntar, lo que indirectamente refuerza la reflexión del filme de la importancia de la paz y comprensión, es algo sencillo pero agradable. La duración es un acierto, le da tiempo suficiente para desarrollar su premisa relativamente simple pero no es demasiado extensa como para ser aburrida, un punto de equilibrio perfecto.
The characters are nice but apart from that there is not much, these are designed more to fulfill a function than to have characterization and much less depth, they are fine without more.
Los personajes son agradables pero fuera de ello no hay mucho, estos están pensados más para cumplir una función que para el hecho de tener caracterización y mucho menos profundidad, están bien sin más.
The Day the Earth Stood Still is a film that houses a pacifist message that is pleasant, it is not by far the most reflective or profound but it is still good, it knows how to work well with its context so that the message it is trying to give makes sense, outside of There is not much to mention. It is for all the above that it deserves 3 stars out of 7, a pleasant classic that knows how to use the events of the time to generate a plausible and pleasant message, recommended for those who want to see a small fragment of how society was at that time epoch.
The Day the Earth Stood Still es un filme que alberga un mensaje pacifista que es agradable, no es ni de lejos el más reflexivo o profundo pero igual está bien, sabe trabajar bien su contexto para que el mensaje que intenta dar tenga sentido, fuera de ello no hay mucho que mencionar. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 3 estrellas de 7, un clásico agradable que sabe utilizar los acontecimientos de la época para generar un mensaje plausible y agradable, recomendada para aquellos que tengan ganas de ver un pequeño fragmento de cómo se encontraba la sociedad en esa época.

Muchas gracias por la mención, es un filme que disfrute mucho, también me gusto la versión que se hizo hace poco. Tenía ciertos cambios, pero me entretuvo bastante.
Ha sido un tema el concepto de Gork, (el acompañante del protagonista) unas inteligencias artificiales a la que los humanos crean y les dejan el control absoluto, de la sociedad. De hecho, es tema de algunas novelas y de ciertos videntes y profetas de los que nunca faltan.
Vocean los profetas y fanáticos del los mundos futuros o alternativos, que es algo que nos espera para más adelante.
Siempre creí que había material para una segunda parte, pero sé también que cuando está bien es mejor dejarlo así y seguir con otro tema.
