Welcome my dear travelers from the city of sin and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, the other day I wanted to see a zombie movie so I asked Gemini about a recommendation of the genre and he mentioned “Army of the Dead” so there was no need to ask any more questions and I simply got to work to see what he had to offer. Without further ado, get ready to bet while you are surrounded by zombies because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros de la ciudad del pecado y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, el otro día tenía ganas de ver una película de zombies por lo que le pregunte a Gemini sobre una recomendación del género y me mencionó “Army of the Dead” por lo que no hubo necesidad de hacer más preguntas y sencillamente puse manos a la obra para ver que tenía para ofrecer. Sin más que agregar prepárense para apostar mientras están rodeados de zombies pues estamos por comenzar.
Army of the Dead was released in 2021, directed by Zack Snyder and produced by The Stone Quarry, it has a duration of 2 hours and 28 minutes. It is an action and robbery film, the story takes place just after the city of Las Vegas was taken over by an undead virus, however, that does not prevent a group of mercenaries from entering the quarantine zone in order to of seeking a significant sum of money while having to face all the dangers that entails.
Army of the Dead fue estrenada en 2021, dirigida por Zack Snyder y producida por The Stone Quarry, cuenta con una duración de 2 horas y 28 minutos. Es un filme de acción y atraco, la historia se desarrolla justo después de que la ciudad de las Vegas fuese tomada por un virus de muertos vivientes, no obstante, eso no impide a un grupo de mercenarios se adentren en la zona de cuarentena a fin de buscar una importante suma de dinero debiendo afrontar todos los peligros que eso conlleva.

The soundtrack is present in the various crucial moments of the film, and when necessary it fulfills its function of being an appropriate accompaniment for the different situations of tension and adrenaline.
La banda sonora se encuentra presente en los diversos momentos cruciales del filme, siendo que cuando es necesario cumple su función de ser un acompañamiento adecuado para las diferentes situaciones de tensión y adrenalina.
The construction of the world is not relevant, we are presented with a society that already knows about the existence of zombies and the fact that they had to quarantine an entire area due to that fact, however, there is never an attempt to delve into how this fact affected in some significant way to it, it is worked only as a controversial event that happened and is represented as something mostly controversial more than anything else, apart from that its context does not have much to offer either on a social level, for its part, to level of scenery, it is interesting that they show a city only populated by the undead and like the shadow of what once was, thus representing what remained after the misfortune.
La construcción del mundo no es relevante, se nos plantea una sociedad que ya sabe de la existencia de los zombies y del hecho de que tuvieron que poner toda una zona en cuarentena por ese hecho, no obstante, nunca se intenta profundizar en como este hecho afecto de alguna forma significativa a la misma, se trabaja únicamente como un hecho polémico que sucedió y se representa como algo mayormente contoversial más que otra cosa, fuera de ello su contexto no tiene mucho para ofrecer ni a nivel social, por su parte, a nivel de escenografía es interesante el hecho de que muestren una ciudad únicamente poblada por no muertos y como la sombra de lo que una vez fue, representando de esta forma lo que quedo después de la desgracia.
The plot is curious, the above is because it is like a strange amalgam between an insane amount of zombies characteristic of any film of the genre and a certain air of 'I'm Legend' by showing an empty city only inhabited by zombies and that post-apocalyptic air, both elements giving a curious touch to the film. Narratively it is strange, the film first simply seeks to combine a robbery with zombies, which in itself is a curious combination, however, the film tries to give complexity to the undead, which is not bad per se, but the way of executing it is terrible, as well as the way of intertwining this fact with the robbery since it feels completely artificial and bland, the only thing that saves this disaster a little is the constant annihilation of zombies, that and some dramatic plot twists that feel sillier than another stuff. The duration is completely exaggerated, more than 2 hours of tape for the little content it has is too much, even more so if you take into account that it spends time on unnecessary things that lead nowhere or are irrelevant, for this tape less would have been further.
La trama es curiosa, lo anterior se debe a que la misma es como una amalgama extraña entre una cantidad insana de zombies característico de cualquier filme del género y cierto aire de "I'm Legend" al mostrar una ciudad vacía únicamente habitada por zombies y ese aire postapocalíptico, siendo que ambos elementos dan un toque curioso al filme. Narrativamente es rara, la cinta primeramente busca simplemente combinar un robo con zombies lo que ya de por sí es una combinación curiosa, no obstante, la cinta intenta darle complejidad a los no muertos lo que no está mal per se pero la forma de ejecutarlo es terrible, así como la forma de entrelazar este hecho con el atraco puesto que se siente completamente artificial y soso, lo único que salva un poco este desastre es la constante aniquilación de zombies, eso y algunos giros argumentales dramáticos que se sienten más tontos que otra cosa. La duración es completamente exagerada, más de 2 horas de cinta para el poco contenido que tiene es demasiado aún más si se toma en cuenta que gasta tiempo en cosas innecesarias que no llevan a ningún lado o que son irrelevantes, para esta cinta menos hubiese sido más.
Nothing to highlight, without exception all the characters are irrelevant and boring cannon fodder who have nothing interesting to contribute, the most disastrous thing is that the film tries on more than one occasion to make the viewer interested in them by giving them deaths. tragic and/or heroic but fails miserably by not making them feel relevant.
Nada que destacar, sin excepción todos los personajes son carne de cañón irrelevante y aburrida que no tiene nada interesante que aportar, lo más nefasto es que el filme intenta en más de una ocasión el hecho de que el espectador se interese por estos al darles muertes trágicas y/o heroicas pero falla estrepitosamente al no conseguir que se sientan relevantes.
Army of the Dead tries to combine many things and that is why it does not feel like something that has coherence or cohesion, to the above is added its exaggerated duration that does not benefit it in any way, the only notable thing it has are some curious shapes of killing zombies as well as some creative and interesting undead. It is for all the above that it deserves 2.5 stars out of 7, it has quite boring moments but at least the moments of confrontation and lead manage to make it a little more bearable, recommended if you want to see something about zombies without many expectations.
Army of the Dead intenta combinar muchas cosas y es por eso que no se siente como algo que tenga coherencia ni cohesión, a lo anterior se le suma su exagerada duración que no le beneficia de ninguna forma, lo único destacable que tiene son algunas formas curiosas de matar zombies así como algunos no muertos creativos e interesantes. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 2.5 estrellas de 7, tiene momentos bastante aburridos pero por lo menos los momentos de enfrentamiento y plomo logran hacerla un poco más llevadera, recomendada si quieren ver algo de zombies sin muchas expectativas.
