[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] Blue Beetle | A Mexican Beetle Hero
Welcome my dear travelers beetles of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, I always start these reviews saying that I see few DC comics films but lately I have seen several films of this franchise so I should not already say them, returning to the point I have to mention that the tape that brings us together today has one of my favorite heroes of that creative house, and is that 'Blue Beetle' has that disconcerting factor that has always caught my attention. Without more to add, prepare your beetles because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros escarabajos del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, siempre empiezo estás reseñas diciendo que veo pocos filmes de DC cómics pero últimamente he visto varias películas de esta franquicia así que no debería ya decirlos, volviendo al punto he de mencionar que la cinta que hoy nos reúne tiene a uno de mis héroes favoritos de esa casa creadora, y es que "Blue Beetle" tiene ese factor desconcertante que siempre me ha llamado la atención. Sin más que agregar preparen sus escarabajos pues estamos por comenzar.
Blue Beetle was released this year and is based on the character of the same name from the comics, directed by Ángel Manuel Soto and produced by DC Studios, it has a duration of 2 hours and 7 minutes. It is a story of action and superheroes, the story focuses on Jaime Reyes, a young Mexican who has just graduated, returns home to be with his loved ones, sooner rather than later he realizes that his family is going through financial problems. Finding himself having to look for work to be able to help, everything will become complicated when he comes across a strange extraterrestrial object that will change his life.
Blue Beetle fue estrenada este año y se encuentra basada en el personaje homónimo de los comics, dirigida por Ángel Manuel Soto y producida por DC Studios, cuenta con una duración de 2 horas y 7 minutos. Es una historia de acción y superhéroes, la historia se enfoca en Jaime Reyes un joven mexicano que acaba de graduarse, regresa a su casa para estar con sus seres queridos, más temprano que tarde se da cuenta de que su familia se encuentra pasando por problemas económicos viéndose en la necesidad de tener que buscar trabajo para poder ayudar, todo se complicará cuando se tope con un objeto extraterrestre extraño que le cambiará la vida.

The soundtrack has a clear Latin influence to its credit, it is not really something that makes it better or worse, it is just something curious, apart from that there is nothing to highlight other than the fact that it is sometimes treated more like a joke.
La banda sonora tiene una clara influencia latina en su haber, no es realmente algo que la haga mejor o peor solo es algo curioso, fuera de ello no hay nada que destacar más que el hecho de ser tratada en algunas ocasiones más como un chiste.
The construction of the world does not have much to offer, this is limited to showing a company that does things and a poor neighborhood where only Mexicans live, outside of it is a city without much to offer for its setting since the only thing about Mexican culture that shows are telenovelas, the chapulín colorado (Although the latter caused me funny) and the fact that there are Mexicans almost anywhere, There is nothing else to highlight in this section. It tries to create an environment of economic inequality and so on, but this is too crude and ill-conceived to be taken seriously.
La construcción de mundo no tiene mucho que ofrecer, esta se limita a mostrar una compañía que hace cosas y a un barrio pobre donde solo viven mexicanos, fuera de ello es una ciudad sin mucho que ofrecer para su ambientación puesto que lo único de la cultura mexicana que muestra son telenovelas, al chapulín colorado (Aunque este último me causo gracia) y el hecho de que existen mexicanos en casi cualquier sitio, no hay nada más que destacar en este apartado. Intenta generar un ambiente de desigualdad económica y demás pero esto es demasiado tosco y mal planteado como para tomárselo en serio.
The plot has nothing that makes it special, it shows you the typical boy who has just received his powers and has to adapt to everything they entail, the problem with this is that this formula usually has some villain that encourages the need for the hero to be ready to face this figure, when all that tension does not exist, it is lost; Obviously there is an organization that does things but it does not feel evil at most like an antagonist. The moments of action are very few and these do not feel epic in most cases because it incorporates jocularity that feels out of place and eliminates the seriousness of the matter, the comedy is fine and the sad situations pass without pain or glory. I must mention the family atmosphere that throughout the film is very present, too much could be said, the problem with this is that it robs the film of time that could have been used in other more important things. The duration is too much, all because it invests a lot of time in unnecessary things that only make the film feel tedious and artificially elongated, the above is because it has scenes that do not contribute anything, they are only boring and are perceived only something that aims to extend everything unnecessarily.
La trama no tiene nada que la haga especial, te muestra al típico chico que acaba de recibir sus poderes y tiene que adaptarse a todo lo que estos conllevan, el problema con esto es que esta fórmula suele tener a algún villano que fomente la necesidad de que el héroe esté listo para poder hacer frente esta figura, al esta no existir toda esa tensión se pierde; evidentemente hay una organización que hace cosas pero esta no se siente malvada a lo mucho como una antagonista. Los momentos de acción son muy pocos y estos no se sienten épicos en la mayoría de los casos debido a que incorpora jocosidad que se siente fuera de lugar y elimina la seriedad del asunto, la comedia está bien y las situaciones tristes pasan sin pena ni gloria. Debo mencionar el ambiente familiar que a lo largo del filme se encuentra muy presente, demasiado se podría decir, el problema con esto es que le roba al filme tiempo que pudo haber sido empleado en otras cosas más importantes. La duración es demasiada, todo debido a que invierte mucho tiempo en cosas innecesarias que solo hacen que el filme se sienta tedioso y alargado de forma artificial, lo anterior se debe a que tiene escenas que no aportan nada, solo son aburridas y se perciben solo algo que pretende extender todo sin necesidad.
There is not much to highlight here, in general they are flat with little or nothing to characterize them, some have attitudes and funny moments without anything more to add, the one who suffers the most from this is the protagonist since he feels totally unknown without a personality, it just does things and it's supposed to be interesting but it never is. His biggest sin is the antagonist because he never really delves into his intentions, they only use the generic argument of wanting to make improved soldiers without any halfway decent justification, this makes the sacrifice of one of these feel completely inconsequential.
No hay mucho que destacar aquí, en general son planos con poco nada y menos que los caracterice, algunos tienen actitudes y momentos graciosos sin más que agregar, el que más sufre de esto es el protagonista puesto que se siente totalmente desconocido sin una personalidad, solo hace cosas y se supone que tiene que ser interesante pero nunca lo es. Su mayor pecado es la antagonista porque realmente nunca ahonda en sus intenciones solo utilizan el argumento genérico de querer hacer soldados mejorados sin ninguna justificación medianamente decente, esto hace que el sacrificio de uno de estos se sienta completamente intrascendente.
Blue Beetle was one of those films that could experiment with a very versatile hero and characters of Latin nationality, however it only ends up giving a protagonist without personality and people who only stand out for being afraid of immigration and having moderately funny moments, all this makes The fact that the film lacks any moment that really represents the supposed danger that exists is partly the fault of lacking a halfway decent villain. It is for all of the above that it deserves 2 stars out of 7. As a final comment I only have to say that I found it too similar to the first Iron Man installment.
Blue Beetle era uno de esos filmes que podía experimentar con un héroe muy versátil y personajes de nacionalidad latina, no obstante solo termina dando a un protagonista sin personalidad y a personas que solo destacan por tenerle miedo a migración y tener momentos medianamente graciosos, todo esto hace que el filme carezca de algún momento que represente realmente el supuesto peligro existente siendo en parte culpa de carecer de un villano medianamente decente. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 2 estrellas de 7, como comentario final solo tengo para decir que me pareció demasiado parecida a la primera entrega de Iron Man.
