[Movie review] [Eng | Esp] Knowing
Welcome my dear psychic travelers of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, I am not a big fan of films oriented towards prophecies about the end of the world and so on, however, I always like to watch all kinds of movies by So I decided to watch “Knowing” after seeing a fragment of the film on TikTok. Without further ado, prepare to face omens about fatalities because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros videntes del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, no soy muy fanático de los filmes orientados a profecías sobre el fin del mundo y demás, no obstante, siempre me gusta ver todo tipo de películas por lo que me dispuse a ver “Knowing” luego de ver un fragmento del filme en TikTok. Sin más que agregar prepárense para enfrentarse a presagios sobre fatalidades pues estamos por comenzar.
Knowing was released in 2009, directed by Alex Proyas, produced by Saturn Films and Escape Artists, and has a duration of 2 hours and 1 minute. It is a science fiction film, the story begins in 1959 with the inauguration of a school, in celebration of said event they decide to make a time capsule that would open in 50 years and which would contain children's drawings, however, a girl named Lucinda only writes a bunch of numbers, after 50 years the capsule is opened and a little boy named Caleb is the one who receives the strange note, however, it is his father who realizes that said paper has disturbing information that will change his perception of life and the entire world.
Knowing fue estrenada en 2009, dirigida por Alex Proyas, producida por Saturn Films y Escape Artists, cuenta con una duración de 2 horas y 1 minuto. Es un filme de ciencia ficción, la historia comienza en 1959 con la inauguración de un colegio, como celebración de dicho evento deciden hacer una cápsula del tiempo que se abriría dentro de 50 años y la cual contendría dibujos de los niños, no obstante, una niña llamada Lucinda solo escribe un montón de números, pasados los 50 años la cápsula es abierta y un pequeño llamado Caleb es el que recibe la extraña nota, sin embargo, es su padre quien se percata que dicho papel cuenta con una información perturbadora que cambiara su percepción de la vida y al mundo entero.

The soundtrack is nothing special, it does not play any transcendental role in the film so it passes without pain or glory.
La banda sonora no es nada del otro mundo, la misma no juega ninguna papel trascendental en el filme por lo que pasa sin pena ni gloria.
The construction of the world does not seek to be anything spectacular, this is due to the fact that the film seeks to have a simple context and as close to reality as possible so that all the events contained in the film can be seen as a representation of what would happen. If that were to happen in the real world, it is because of the above that there is not much to highlight in this section.
La construcción del mundo no busca ser nada espectacular, lo anterior se debe a que el filme busca tener un contexto simple y lo más apegado a la realidad posible a fin de que todos los acontecimientos que alberga la cinta puedan verse como una representación de que pasaría si eso sucediese en el mundo real, es por lo anterior que no hay mucho que destacar de este apartado.
The plot is curious, the premise has a certain halo of mystery that gives it a certain degree of interesting uncertainty that keeps the viewer's attention trapped, however, it is the only attractive point that the film has and when this is due, all the meaning is lost. mystery box charm. Narratively it is quite depressive, sooner rather than later part of the premonition is resolved, making its purpose clear, the issue is that despite said discovery the film makes it clear that nothing can be done and it is something that is reflected with the protagonist, being who has a bitter reflection that sometimes nothing can be done to avoid misfortunes, leaving resignation and acceptance as the only alternative. As I mentioned previously, the only attraction of the film is the mystery that is posed from the beginning, which is the reason why after being deciphered the film feels tedious and somewhat boring, the above is increased because it lasts 2 hours, it would have been smart to opt for less duration, less would have been more.
La trama es curiosa, la premisa tiene cierto halo de misterio que la dota de cierto grado de incertidumbre interesante que mantiene atrapada la atención del espectador, no obstante, es el único punto atractivo que posee el filme y cuando este es debelado se pierde todo el encanto de la caja misteriosa. Narrativamente es bastante depresivo, más temprano que tarde se resuelve parte de la premonición dejando claro su propósito, el asunto es que pese a dicho descubrimiento la cinta deja en claro que no se puede hacer nada y es algo que se va reflejando con el protagonista, siendo que tiene una reflexión amarga de que a veces no se puede hacer nada para evitar las desgracias quedando como única alternativa la resignación y aceptación. Como mencione previamente el único atractivo del filme es el misterio que es planteado desde el inicio siendo esa la razón de que después de ser descifrado la cinta se sienta tediosa y algo aburrida, lo anterior se ve acrecentado debido a que dura 2 horas, hubiese sido inteligente optar por menos tiempo de duración, menos habría sido más.
The only character that deserves to be highlighted is the protagonist, not because he has a great characterization or anything similar, but because of the path he must face, through him you can feel the helplessness of knowing about various tragedies and not being able to do anything to avoid it. As I mentioned previously, the only thing that this seeks to represent is the fact that there are times when you cannot do anything other than accept things, being a rather depressive and discouraging message that this character transmits.
El único personaje que merece ser destacado es el protagonista, no porque tenga una gran caracterización ni nada que se le asemeje sino por el camino que este debe afrontar, mediante él se logra palpar la impotencia de saber sobre diversas tragedias y no poder hacer nada para evitarlo, como mencione previamente, lo único que este busca representar es el hecho de que hay ocasiones en las que no se puede hacer otra cosa más que aceptar las cosas, siendo un mensaje bastante depresivo y desalentador el que este personaje trasmite.
Knowing is a film focused on the preamble before an apocalypse, the anguish generated by suddenly finding out that the life you know is about to change dramatically without you being able to do anything to avoid it, as I have said on several occasions. It is a quite pessimistic message that this film handles, apart from that there is not much more that it offers. It is for all the above that it deserves 2 stars out of 7, beyond its hopeless reflection it does not have much to offer and easily becomes boring to watch due to the lack of interesting things on screen as well as its considerably long duration, I only recommend it if You want to see how a person feels helpless for not being able to do anything about the coming misfortunes.
Knowing es un filme enfocado en el preámbulo antes de un apocalipsis, la angustia que genera el hecho de enterarse de forma súbita que la vida que conoces está a punto de cambiar de manera tajante sin que puedas hacer nada para evitarlo, como dije en varias oportunidades es un mensaje bastante pesimista el que maneja este filme, fuera de ello no hay mucho más que ofrezca. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 2 estrellas de 7, más allá de su reflexión desesperanzador no tiene mucho para ofrecer y fácilmente se vuelve aburrida de ver debido a la falta de cosas interesantes en pantalla así como su duración considerablemente extensa, la recomiendo únicamente si quieres ver como una persona se siente impotente por no poder hacer nada frente a las desgracias venideras.

Me recuerda mucho a la tragedia mitológica de Casandra, que veía el futuro, pero estaba condenada a que nadie le creyese.
Había una película que exponía ese tema también, basada en la novela de "La máquina del tiempo", en que el personaje protagonista trataba de evitar la muerte de su novia, y cada vez que evitaba una muerte, la dama terminaba muriendo de una forma cada vez más atroz, como si la muerte se molestara por la intervención.
No podía evitarse su destino, es un tema controversial y da para hacer muchas historias.
Una vez me comentaron de un filme similar al que me recomiendas, llamado "Efecto mariposa" nunca lo he visto pero parece ser interesante así como el que mencionas, los tendré en cuenta para futuras publicaciones.

Si en realidad es una línea de pensamiento en la ciencia, en que teorizan los efectos del viaje temporal y como se afecta la línea de la realidad. Unos teorizan que no se puede evitar que sucedan los hechos, solo retrasarlos, mientras otra corriente de pensamiento asegura que se puede alterar la cadena de sucesos.
Le había comentado la novela 22/11/63 del Sr. King, sobre viajes en el tiempo y después de comparar la novela con el libro:
Tengo que reconocer que una vez más no supieron adaptar el libro del Sr. King a una película. Fue todo un desastre.
Me es difícil leer libros por falta de tiempo, no obstante, trataré de echarle un vistazo apenas pueda, suena interesante.
Cuando estoy muy atareado trato con audiolibros, también me han recomendado programas que pasan el texto a voz, para ir oyendo los libros mientras trabajo.
Pero no he probado aún alguno, por lo que no podría recomendar un programa de esos en particular.
Yo probe uno de esos cuando estaba estudiando para presentar mi tesis, en lo personal no me gustó jajaja, en algún momento hallaré el equilibrio perfecto para retomar la lectura.
