Gran Turismo: From gamer to racer | Movie Review
Hasn't it happened to you that sometimes you see the title of a movie and feel like you've already seen it? And you ignore it for so long because you firmly believe that you've already seen it and one day, I don't know, you decide what to watch because that title stands out a lot and you don't remember the movie, and when you're starting to watch it you realize that you never you saw it and your brain made you believe otherwise all this time. Well, that's what happened to me with this movie.
I don't even know how to begin to tell you this. Gran Turismo is not just a movie, it is based on true events, so it is not an adaptation to video games, yes, the title is after the video game, in fact they are a series of video games that I myself have had the opportunity to play from a very young age thanks to my brother. These types of movies are really the ones that I like to recommend because not everything remains an illusion in addition to giving you a small spark of motivation. I just realized I talked a lot and didn't explain that Gran Turismo is a racing simulation game.
¿No les ha pasado que a veces ven el título de una película y sienten que ya la habían visto? Y tú la ignoran por tanto tiempo porque creen firmemente que ya la vieron y un día, no sé, deciden qué la verán porque ese título resalta mucho y no te acuerdas de la película, y cuando la estás empezando a ver te das cuenta que nunca la viste y tu cerebro te hizo creer lo contrario todo este tiempo. Bueno, así me pasó con esta película.
Ni siquiera sé como empezar a decirles esto. Gran Turismo no es solamente una película, está basada en la vida real, así que no es una adaptación a los videojuegos, sí, el título es por el videojuego, de hecho son una serie de videojuegos que yo misma he tenido la oportunidad de jugar desde muy joven gracias a mi hermano. Este tipo de películas realmente son las que me gusta recomendar porque no todo se queda en una ilusión además de darte una pequeña chispa de motivación. Me acabo de dar cuenta que hablé bastante y no expliqué que Gran turismo es un juego de simulación de carreras.

The film is about the life of Jann Mardenborough, a British gamer with a somewhat complicated and pressure-filled life. A boy quite passionate about racing simulation video games, specifically this one from Gran Turismo. Although I must clarify that Jann's passion is not only based on video games because he was really passionate about this world of racing but we all know that it is a sport that has a certain exclusivity because it is quite expensive, so this is what it took Jann to enter this world to at least feel a part of it.
La película trata de la vida de Jann Mardenborough, un gamer británico con una vida un poco complicada y llena de presiones. Un chico bastante apasionado por los videojuegos de simulación de carreras, específicamente este de Gran Turismo. Aunque debo aclarar que, la pasión de Jann no se basa solamente en los videojuegos pues a él de verdad le apasionaba este mundo de las carreras pero todos sabemos que es un deporte que tiene cierta exclusividad porque es bastante costoso, entonces esto es lo que llevó a Jann a adentrarse en este mundo para al menos sentir una parte de él.

His love for this world and his perfectionism in the video game made him get a place in the GT Academy, here in this place it is really to train quite hard and prepare you for the world of racing in real life. Jann at first seemed like he was having a hard time adjusting and despite the comments he decided to keep going, this was his dream and he was sure he could achieve it. Su amor por este mundo y su perfeccionismo en el videojuego lo hizo conseguir un lugar en la GT Academy, aquí en este lugar es realmente para entrenar bastante duro y te preparan para el mundo de las carreras en la vida real. Jann al principio parecía que le estaba costando adaptarse y a pesar de los comentarios él decidió seguir adelante, esto era su sueño y él estaba seguro de que podía conseguirlo. Dentro de esta misma academia van a competir entre todos y solamente el mejor tiene la oportunidad de probar sus habilidades en las carreras reales.

Afortunadamente Jann lo consiguió, se esforzó mucho por sus sueños y cabe resaltar que nunca había manejado un auto de carreras, todo esto pasó en el 2011. Y no es tan rápido como se muestra en la película ya que las preparaciones toman bastante tiempo, hablamos de meses de trabajo y esfuerzo. Después de todo esto toca competir en una carrera real donde debe quedar en una posición muy adelantada para obtener una licencia, lo logró tras varios intentos en diferentes ocasiones.

There is one important thing, and that is that the film does not show the real chronology of the events, we know that films always seek to sell and make the story more interesting, and I mention this because they show us how Jann had an accident in one of the races. That in reality it did happen and unfortunately there were injuries and one person died... but it was not at the time shown, it really happened 2 years after the Le Mans race, a 24-hour race. This race was the highlight of the movie, they place it as the most relevant and they also make it seem like Jann is affected by the previous accident but in real life, as I told you, that happened long after this race.
Hay una cosa importante, y es que la película no muestra la cronología real de los hechos, sabemos que las películas siempre buscan vender y hacer la historia más interesante, y te menciono esto porque nos muestran como Jann tuvo un accidente en una de las carreras que en realidad sí sucedió y lamentablemente hubieron heridos y una persona falleció… pero no fue en el momento que se muestra, realmente sucedió 2 años mas tarde de la carrera Le Mans, una carrera de 24 horas. Esta carrera fue lo más destacado de la película, lo colocan como lo más relevante y también lo hacen parecer como que Jann está afectado por el accidente anterior pero en la vida real como les dije eso pasó mucho después de esta carrera.

This was the case of Jann, his effort and dedication not only on a screen but also off it, led him to run on numerous circuits and also participate in championships, and he even participated as a stuntman in the film that is inspired in his own story, isn't that cool?
Habiendo remarcado algunas cosas que la gran pantalla maquilló, lo que realmente quería expresar es que esta es una historia real, sí pasó, además de que borran ese estigma que tienen sobre los gamers, mucha gente suele desmoralizarlos y hacerles burlas sobre si en el futuro van a tener una carrera real en la vida o un trabajo real, que no tiene nada de ventajas, creo que esta no ha sido la primera ocasión que lo prueban, cuando tienes un sueño vas detrás de él. Este fue el caso de Jann, su esfuerzo y dedicación no solamente dentro de una pantalla sino también afuera de ella, lo llevaron a correr en numerosos circuitos y además a participar en campeonatos, y hasta participó como doble de riesgos en la película que está inspirada en su propia historia, ¿no es eso genial?
