Hello everyone who loves good stories, I hope you are doing great. Today I want to share a new review with you all. Can you believe I had never seen the movie The Witch? Well no. I have never been a big horror fan, but I recently saw this movie and today I wanted to share with you all my personal review of this very interesting story. Yes, today we are going to talk about The Witch. Do you know when a movie hits you by surprise? As I was saying, I have never been a big fan of horror movies, so I didn't really know what to expect, but I ended up pleasantly surprised, and I think what makes the difference is that it is not just any typical horror movie.

It’s not your conventional horror story.. forget about easy scares or creepy monsters that just jump out of nowhere, instead The Witch is more about presenting a unique atmosphere, tension and a terror that gets under your skin and lingers long after.. it’s like that eerie feeling you get when you’re alone somewhere and everything’s too quiet.. that’s something that really scares me, so I was able to connect with this atmosphere perfectly.. it’s this kind of vibe that this movie masters and tries to present.

It’s an vibe that definitely hooked a lot of people.. but well, talking a bit about the story, it’s set in New England in 1630 and from the very beginning you feel the loneliness, the devastation.. you know something bad is coming, we see a deeply religious family and how they are cast out of their community and set up a farm on the edge of a dark forest. And let me tell you, this forest feels like a character in itself, the cinematography here is insane.. everything is cold, grey and desaturated making you feel as isolated and hopeless as the characters themselves.. the use of natural light, candles, sunlight and lots of shadows give the film a raw and authentic look that is both beautiful and extremely disturbing.

Hola a todos fanáticos de las buenas historias, espero que estén súper bien.. hoy quiero compartir con todos ustedes una nueva reseña. ¿Pueden creer que nunca había visto la película The Witch? Pues no.. nunca he sido un gran fanático del terror, pero recientemente vi esta película y hoy quería compartir con todos ustedes mi reseña personal sobre esta historia tan interesante.. sí que hoy hablaremos de The Witch. ¿Saben cuándo una película te golpea por sorpresa?.. yo, como les decía, nunca he sido un gran fanático de las películas de terror, así que no sabía muy bien qué esperar, pero acabé gratamente sorprendido, y creo que lo que marca la diferencia es que no es una típica película de terror cualquiera.

No es una historia de terror convencional.. olvídense de los sustos fáciles o los monstruos espeluznantes que simplemente saltan de la nada, en cambio, The Witch se trata más de presentar una atmósfera única, tensión y un terror que se te mete bajo la piel y permanece mucho tiempo después.. es como esa sensación inquietante que tienes cuando estás solo en algún lugar y todo está demasiado silencioso.. eso es algo que a mí realmente me da cierto miedo, así que pude conectar perfectamente con esta atmósfera.. es este tipo de ambiente que esta película domina y trata de presentar.

Es un ambiente que sin duda enganchó a muchas personas.. pero bueno, hablando un poco de la historia, está ambientada en la Nueva Inglaterra de 1630 y desde el principio sientes la soledad, la devastación.. sabes que algo malo está por venir, vemos a una familia profundamente religiosa y cómo es expulsada de su comunidad y establece una granja al borde de un bosque oscuro. Y déjenme decirles que este bosque se siente como un personaje en sí mismo, la cinematografía aquí es una locura.. todo es frío, gris y desaturado, lo que te hace sentir tan aislado y desesperanzado como los personajes propios.. el uso de la luz natural, velas, luz solar y muchas sombras le dan a la película un aspecto crudo y auténtico que es tanto hermoso como sumamente inquietante.

Now, the performances, Anya Taylor-Joy is absolutely perfect.. she is the heart of the film, and you can't take your eyes off her.. this was her breakout role, and it's easy to see why, she's so expressive that you can feel every aspect of her fear, frustration and confusion, as her family's world falls apart around her. I thought the rest of the cast were fantastic too, especially the stern and fearful Father and the grieving and miserable Mother.. but Anya steals the whole movie, hands down.. truth be told. One of the things that makes this movie unique is its commitment to historical sentiment, the dialogues are based on actual documents from the time, like court records and diaries, so it feels incredibly authentic and real..

At first, the ancient language can be a bit disconcerting, but after a few minutes you'll get used to it as I did.. it really adds a lot of immersion, you feel like you're being transported back to that time, experiencing all its fears and struggles first hand.. and then there's the sound design, the music is like a collection of eerie noises and haunting chants, rather than... actual melodies.. and it goes perfectly with the whole atmosphere. There's a constant tension that makes you feel so scared.. you know something is going to pop up, even if nothing is happening, it's subtle, but incredibly effective.. and the silence, man, the silence in some scenes is deafening, making every creak and whisper feel amplified by a thousand.

Ahora, las actuaciones, Anya Taylor-Joy es absolutamente perfecta.. ella es el corazón de la película, y no puedes apartar la vista de ella.. este fue su papel revelación, y es fácil saber por qué, es tan expresiva que puedes sentir cada aspecto de su miedo, frustración y confusión, mientras el mundo de su familia se desmorona a su alrededor. El resto del elenco también me pareció fantástico, especialmente el severo y temeroso Padre y la madre afligida y desgraciada.. pero Anya roba toda la película, sin duda.. hay que decir la verdad. Una de las cosas que hacen que esta película sea única es su compromiso con la actitud histórica, los diálogos están basados en documentos reales de la época, como registros judiciales y diarios, por lo que se siente increíblemente auténtica y real..

Al principio, el lenguaje antiguo puede desconcertante un poco, pero después de unos minutos podrás acostumbrarte al igual que yo.. es algo que realmente añade mucha inmersión, sientes que te están transportando a esa época, experimentando todos sus miedos y luchas de primera mano.. y hay que hablar también del diseño de sonido, ña música es como una colección de ruidos inquietantes y cantos perturbadores, más que... melodías reales.. y va perfecto con toda la atmósfera. Hay una tensión constante que te hace sentir mucho miedo.. sabes que algo va a aparecer, aunque no esté pasando nada, es sutil, pero increíblemente efectivo.. y el silencio, amigo, el silencio de unas escenas es ensordecedor, haciendo que cada crujido y susurro se sienta amplificado por mil.

I must warn you all of one thing, the pacing is slow, deliberately slow.. it’s the kind of movie that takes its time to build up all of its tension, and I know that’s not to everyone’s taste.. some people might find it boring, but for me it’s all about the bigger payoff, every scene feels like they’re adding another layer of dread, and when you get to the climax it’s just amazing. Be patient with it and I promise it will be sorely worth it.. that being said, I can see why this movie divided a lot of audiences, it was promoted as a straight up classic horror movie, but it’s more like some sort of psychological drama with supernatural elements.. if you go in expecting cheap hug-your-girlfriend scares you’re going to be sorely disappointed, but if you’re open to something much more different, something that gets under your skin and makes you think throughout the entire movie, then you’ve come to the right place.

I went into it expecting to be scared stupid, and came out feeling kind of uneasy and oddly introspective... it's a movie that makes you reflect on what fear means, faith and obviously some family dynamics... Among other aspects that I really liked is how it blurred the lines between psychological horror and the supernatural, you're constantly questioning what's real and what's in the characters' heads... you can see how the family's paranoia is destroying them, but you start to think about whether it's just them or if there really is something evil lurking in the woods... the movie doesn't give you clear answers, which I loved, it respects the intelligence of each viewer and lets you draw your own conclusions... that's a big point for me.

Debo advertirles una cosa, el ritmo es lento, deliberadamente lento.. es el tipo de película que se toma su tiempo para construir toda su tensión, y sé que eso no es del gusto de todos.. algunas personas podrían encontrarla aburrida, pero para mí todo se trata de una recompensa mayor, cada escena se siente como si estuvieran agregando otra capa al temor, y cuando llegas al climax es simplemente increíble. Sean pacientes y les prometo que valdrá mucho la pena.. dicho esto, puedo ver por qué esta película dividió a muchas audiencias, fue promocionada como una película de terror directa y clásica, pero es más como una especie de drama psicológico con elementos sobrenaturales.. si entras esperando sustos baratos para abrazar a tu novia, te vas a decepcionar mucho, pero si estás abierto a algo mucho más diferente, algo que se mete bajo tu piel y te hace pensar durante toda la película, pues estás en el lugar correcto.

Yo entré esperando asustarme muy estúpidamente, y salí sintiéndome algo inquieto y extrañamente introspectivo.. es una película que te hace reflexionar sobre lo que significa el miedo, la fe y obviamente algunas dinámicas familiares.. Entre otros aspectos que me gustó mucho es como difuminó las líneas entre el terror psicológico y el sobrenatural, estás constantemente cuestionándote qué es real y qué está en la cabeza de los personajes.. puedes ver como la paranoia de la familia los está destruyendo, pero te pones a pensar que si es solo cosa de ellos o si realmente hay algo maligno acechando el bosque.. la película no te da respuestas claras, lo cual me encantó, respeta la inteligencia de cada espectador y te deja sacar tus propias conclusiones.. eso es un gran punto para mí.

And obviously we have to talk about the goat, hahaha, I found it terrifying.. I never thought a farm animal could scare me this much, but it did.. without giving too much away, let’s just say that it’s not something you’d expect, you can end up very shocked and dismayed, to the point that you might never look at goats the same way again. But hey, it’s worth noting that I don’t think this movie is perfect, it also has some flaws.. as I mentioned, the pacing might be a deal breaker for some people, and while I like things to be slow, at some point I did find myself wishing they’d speed up a bit with certain dialogue.. and while I personally loved the historical authenticity, I can understand how the archaic dialogue could be a bit disconcerting for most audiences.. so it’s definitely not a movie for everyone, but that’s exactly what makes it special.

It’s bold, it’s different, and it makes no apologies for what it is, so my final verdict is a solid 9.5/10, it’s one of the most original and memorable horror movies I’ve seen in a long time.. it’s the kind of movie that definitely stays with you, and is great to discuss and analyze with more people, if you like atmospheric and slow-burn horror, this is for you. It’s interesting to see a horror movie that focuses more on atmosphere and psychological tension than cheap scares.. I highly recommend it. And well, that’s my review for today.. Y obviamente hay que hablar del chivo, jajaja, me pareció aterrador.. nunca pensé que un animal de granja me podría dar tanto miedo, pero sí lo hizo.. sin dar demasiado detalle, digamos que no es algo que tú esperarías, puedes acabar muy consternado y impactado, al punto de que tal vez no vuelvas a mirar a los chivos de la misma manera. Pero bueno, cabe destacar que esta película no me parece perfecta, también tiene algunos defectos.. como mencioné, el ritmo podría ser un obstáculo para algunas personas, y aunque me gustan las cosas lentas, en algún momento sí llegué a querer que se apresuraran un poco con ciertos diálogos.. y aunque personalmente amé la autenticidad histórica, puedo entender como el diálogo arcaico podría ser un poco desconcertante para gran mayoría del público.. así que definitivamente no es una película para todos, pero es justo eso lo que la hace especial.

Es audaz, diferente, y no se disculpa por ser lo que es, entonces, mi veredicto final es un sólido 9.5/10, es de las películas de terror más originales y memorables que he visto en mucho tiempo.. es del tipo de película que sin duda se queda contigo, y que es ideal para discutir y analizar con más personas, si te gusta el terror atmosférico y de desarrollo lento, esta es para ti. Es interesante ver una película de terror que se enfoca más en el ambiente y la tensión psicológica que en los sustos baratos.. la recomiendo bastante.
