Hello everyone, dear Movies and TV Shows community. This time I want to talk to you about a movie that was released a few months ago, and that undoubtedly caused some controversy. Today I will give you my opinion of Saltburn. I saw this movie recently on Amazon Prime Video, it called me a lot of tension, I remember that it caused some commotion when it was released, and as something classic me haha, I always watch these productions months later.. Well, the story of this film focuses on Oliver, a somewhat intellectual and reserved young man... who manages to enter the prestigious Oxford University, thanks to being selected through a scholarship.

Contrary to many of his classmates, this boy does not come from a rich family, which obviously makes him feel out of place... One day, his life changes when he meets another charismatic boy named Felix, a typical popular boy, and unexpectedly, they forge a friendship. For different circumstances, Felix invites Oliver to spend the summer in his house, a castle where a rare, and very wealthy family lives... and everything at this moment starts to get much more intense...

En esta ocasión quiero hablarles de una película que se estrenó hace unos meses, y que sin duda causo algo de polémica. El día de hoy les daré mi opinión de Saltburn. Esta película la vi recientemente en Amazon Prime Video, me llamaba mucho la tensión, recuerdo que causo cierto revuelo cuando se estreno, y como algo clásico mío jaja, siempre veo estas producciones meses después.. Bueno, la historia de este filme se centra en Oliver, un joven algo intelectual y reservado.. que logra ingresar a la prestigiosa universidad de Oxford, gracias a que fue seleccionado mediante una beca.

En contrario a muchos de sus compañeros, este chico no proviene de una familia rica, lo que obviamente lo hace sentirse fuera de lugar.. Un día, su vida cambia cuando conoce a otro carismático chico, llamado Felix, el típico chico muy popular.. e inesperadamente, logran forjar una amistad. Por diferentes circunstancias, Felix invita a Oliver a pasar el verano en su casa, un castillo donde vive una rara, y muy adinerada familia.. y todo en este momento comienza a ponerse mucho más intenso.

The first thing I want to highlight about this film is the stunning cinematography! From the first scenes on campus... to the majestic shots of Felix's family's castle, each frame is very carefully composed, creating a whole atmosphere that is visually great, feels ancient... but at the same time modern, and adds so much to the narrative of the overall story. I feel that all the cinematography played a key role in drawing you into this world, and the dynamics of these curious characters.

The performances are also excellent. Barry Keoghan, who plays the secretive Oliver, gives one of his best performances. Very convincing, he has a great ability to convey that vulnerability and the growing evolution-complexity of his character is impressive. On the other hand, Jacob Elordi as Felix, also really shines in this film, he perfectly captures all the charm, and that mystery surrounding the character. The other cast members also do very well, they served to add much more depth and richness to the plot... making every internment with these two memorable and entertaining.

Desde las primeras escenas del campus.. hasta las majestuosas tomas del castillo de la familia de Felix, cada cuadro está muy cuidadosamente compuesto, creando toda una atmosfera que es visualmente genial, se siente antigua.. pero al mismo tiempo moderna, y aporta mucho a la narrativa de la historia en general. Siento que toda la cinematografía jugo un papel fundamental para meterte en este mundo, y en la dinámica de estos curiosos personajes.

Las actuaciones también están excelentes.. Barry Keoghan quien interpreta al reservado Oliver, ofrece una de sus mejores actuaciones.. Muy convincente, tiene una gran capacidad para transmitir esa vulnerabilidad y la creciente evolución-complejidad de su personaje es impresionante. Por otro lado, Jacob Elordi como Felix, también brilla mucho en esta película, captura perfectamente todo el encanto, y ese misterio que rodea al personaje. Los otros miembros del elenco también lo hacen muy bien, sirvieron para agregarle mucho más profundidad y riqueza a la trama.. haciendo que cada internación con estos dos fuera memorable y entretenida.

I consider Saltburn to be a critique of wealth, and the extravagant or grotesque dynamics of British high society. We are shown a narrative that, although set in an English context, can strike a chord with many people from different parts of the world. The story of Oliver and his immersion into Felix's world is a journey that I found fascinating, exploring themes of power, manipulation, and desire.

Speaking of which, one of the most striking aspects of this film is its erotic tone... there was no fear in showing the sensuality and sexual tension between the characters, using this to delve deeper into their motivations, as well as internal and external conflicts. There are many people who considered it as just gratuitous morbidness, as it happened with Poor Things, I didn't feel it was forced, I feel it had a good balance between the explicit and the suggestive.

Se nos muestra una narrativa que, aunque está en un contexto inglés, puede lograr que muchas personas de diferentes lugares del mundo. La historia de Oliver y su inmersión al mundo de Felix es un viaje que me pareció fascinante, y que explora temas como el poder, la manipulación, y el deseo..

Hablando de esto, uno de los aspectos que más ha llamado la atención en relación con esta película es su tono erótico.. no se tuvo ningún miedo en mostrar la sensualidad y la tensión sexual entre los personajes, utilizando esto para profundizar en sus motivaciones, como en los conflictos internos y externos. Hay muchas personas que lo consideraron como solo morbo gratuito, tal como paso con Poor Things, yo no lo sentí forzado la verdad, siento que tuvo un buen equilibrio entre lo explicito y lo sugestivo.

This film combines in a good way all these intense moments, with a good dose of black humor in several sequences, which relieves the tension and that I personally liked quite a lot. This humor, although subtle, adds more entertainment to the film, as it does manage to bring a smile to your face at times. Although, I would have liked to see a little more of this acid tone in more parts of the story, since I feel there were more opportunities where this humor would have been interesting.

As I said, all the direction is impeccable, the scenes have a unique feel, there is a clear vision behind this production, they were very creative and it shows. The choice of using a four thirds format was also very interesting to me, I don't usually watch films in this format, although it took some getting used to, I felt that it gave a refreshing touch to the film, in the castle scenes this makes the experience visually more striking.

Este humor, aunque sutil, añade más entretenimiento a la película, ya que sí te logra sacar una sonrisa alguna que otra vez. Aunque, me hubiera gustado ver un poco más de ese tono ácido en más partes de la historia, puesto que siento que hubo más oportunidades donde este humor fuera sido interesante.

Como les comentaba, toda la dirección es impecable, las escenas se notan que tienen un aire único, hay visión clara detrás de esta producción, se pusieron muy creativos y eso se nota. La elección de usar un formato de cuatro tercios también me resulto muy interesante, yo no suelo ver películas en este formato, aunque me costó acostumbrarme un poco, luego sentí que le dio un toque refrescante a la cinta, en las escenas del castillo esto hace que la experiencia sea visualmente más llamativa.

I feel that what I loved the most about this movie was Oliver's evolution, from the beginning you can feel how something in him is changing. And watching that transformation is both fascinating and disturbing, the film shows how people can take the desire to belong to a place very far, to the point of crossing ethical and moral boundaries. The director brings her own style and vision to this work, making an impact on many viewers, with her excellent technical design and outstanding performances. Although it seems to me that in the third act the film runs a little longer than necessary, and the pace slows down, it could have been handled better. Still, it has a tremendous ending, giving us an incredible closure that makes up for all the previous flaws.

Saltburn may not be a movie that will please everyone... but I feel it is worth watching, the premise feels unique, I recommend it for all lovers of murky stories, but with good reflections, I give it a 9/10 rating. I'm sure if you give it a chance, you will end up with a lot of mixed feelings, and that without a doubt is what makes cinema so unique and special. Y ver esa transformación es tanto fascinante como inquietante, la película muestra como las personas pueden llevar muy lejos el deseo de pertenecer a un lugar, al punto de cruzar límites éticos y morales. La directora le pone su propio estilo y visión a esta obra, logrando impactar a muchos espectadores, con su excelente diseño técnico y actuaciones destacadas. Aunque me parece que en el tercer acto la película se extiende un poco más de lo necesario, y que el ritmo baja, se pudo haber manejado mejor.. Aun así, tiene un tremendo final, nos da un cierre increíble que compensa todos los fallos anteriores.

Saltburn puede que no sea una película que le agrade a todos.. pero siento que vale la pena ver, la premisa se siente muy única, la recomiendo para todos los amantes de las historias turbias, pero con buenas reflexiones, le doy una calificación de 9/10. Seguro si le dan una oportunidad, terminarán con muchos sentimientos encontrados, y eso sin duda es lo que hace al cine tan único y especial.
