Hello everyone, anime lovers, dear community of The Anime Realm. In this opportunity, I want to share with you a new review, this time it is about an anime that went somewhat unnoticed at the time of its release, I will talk about: MARS RED. This anime is about vampires, a popular genre among today's productions... although it may seem saturated due to repeated stories and clichés... This anime offers a fresh touch by taking us to a historical era a bit old, and focusing on political and social conflicts of an alternative Japan.

The premise manages to hook you quite a bit in the first episodes, in this story we will enter a Japan where vampires are something known, and not just legends... the government is overwhelmed by the threats that these creatures of the night can become... So the top brass comes up with the idea of fighting fire with fire, and create the Code Zero unit, composed of military men who have managed to survive vampire bites, and have acquired superhuman abilities. I found this approach somewhat interesting... it adds depth and seriousness to the plot, giving us at least a slightly different premise to what we are surely used to.

En esta oportunidad, les quiero compartir una nueva reseña, esta vez se trata de un anime que paso algo desapercibido al momento de su estreno, les hablaré de: MARS RED. Este anime es de vampiros, género popular entre las producciones de la actualidad.. aunque puede parecer saturado debido a historias repetidas, y clichés.. Este anime ofrece un toque fresco llevándonos a una época histórica un poco antigua, y enfocándose en conflictos políticos y sociales de un Japón alternativo.

La premisa logra engancharte bastante en los primeros episodios, en esta historia nos adentraremos en un Japón donde los vampiros son algo conocido, y no sol leyendas.. el gobierno está abrumado por las amenazas que estas criaturas de la noche pueden llegar a ser.. Por lo que a los altos mandos se les ocurre combatir fuego con fuego, y crear a la unidad Code Zero, compuesta por militares que han logrado sobrevivir a mordidas de vampiros, y han adquirido habilidades sobrehumanas. Este enfoque me pareció algo interesante.. que añade profundidad y seriedad a la trama, dándonos al menos una premisa un poco distinta a la que seguro estamos acostumbrados.

This series has a great setting, which manages to combine elements of the 1920s with more cyberpunk style technology, creating a fascinating and visually appealing world. We are enveloped in an almost European atmosphere, the constant fog and technical details in the dark scenes, or in the shots where everything is really calm contribute to a unique visual experience, all the animation has a cinematic style, with scenes with the classic black bars, with a proper blur...

While watching the episodes I couldn't help but feel like I was watching a movie, you can tell the high budget they had to develop this series, there are cool details in the backgrounds and the characters are very well designed, with features that differentiate them from each other, and the classic reddening of the eyes is animated great. There are even moments or situations taken from a play, with agile lighting changes that focus on different characters, giving it a unique touch that is rarely seen in anime.

Nos envuelven en una atmosfera casi europea, la niebla constante y los detalles técnicos en las escenas de oscuridad, o en los planos donde todo está realmente calmado contribuyen a una experiencia visual única,, toda la animación tiene un estilo cinematográfico, con escenas con las clásicas barras negras, con un desenfoque adecuado..

Mientras veía los episodios no pude evitar sentir que estaba viendo una película, se nota el alto presupuesto que tuvieron a desarrollar esta serie, hay detalles geniales en los fondos y los personajes están muy bien diseñados, con características que los diferencian entre si, y el clásico enrojecimiento de los ojos está animado grandiosamente. Incluso hay momentos o situaciones sacados de una obra de teatro, con cambios ágiles de iluminación que enfocan a distintos personajes, dándole un toque único que rara vez se aprecia en el anime.

The plot is not limited to clashes between vampires, but encompasses an impending political conflict, as well as social and ideological problems of the time. This anime is not pure action, like some other vampire anime. Instead, it focuses on the different strategies to defeat the enemies, the talks between military superiors, and the debates on how to combat the vampire threat. This makes it out of the ordinary, and the different members of the squadron have distinct and different personalities, creating a good chemistry between meetings or missions.

The leader, Maeda, is a very cold and calculating military man, who speaks very little, but in the course of the story we will know his background, and his motivations will be explained to us. The rest of the characters also have their moments, from the classic inventor, somewhat crazy, as the rookie who tries to adapt to the missions, and gradually learns everything related to this complicated confrontation.

Este anime no es de pura acción, como algunos otros de vampiros. En su lugar, se enfoca en las diferentes estrategias para acabar con los enemigos, en las charlas entre superiores militares, y los debates sobre como lograr combatir la amenaza vampírica. Esto lo hace salirse de lo ordinario, además los distintos miembros del escuadrón tienen personalidades marcadas y diferentes, logrando crear una buena química entre las reuniones o misiones.

El líder, Maeda, es un militar muy frío y calculador, que habla realmente poco, pero en el transcurso de la historia conoceremos su trasfondo, y se nos explicará sus motivaciones.. El resto de personajes también tienen sus momentos, desde el clásico inventor, algo loco, como el novato que trata de adaptarse a las misiones, y que poco a poco aprende todo lo relacionado con este complicado enfrentamiento.

Another strong point is how he humanizes the vampires. Several members question whether they are all enemies. The humanization adds a new layer of moral complexity that can be refreshing in a genre that, more often than not, tends to lean into simplistic battles between good and evil. The main action scenes are quite lively, not a gore fest, but strategic and well thought out combat that conveys a real feel. Mars Red is a series you should watch if you want something more than a typical vampire anime, full of clichés.

Its unique setting, high quality animation, and focus on political and social conflicts make it quite an engaging series. Although some characters could have been given more depth, the series as a whole is solid. I give it a score of 8/10. Without a doubt, Mars Red deserves a place on any anime list.

La humanización añade una nueva capa de complejidad moral que puede resultar refrescante en un género que, la mayoría de las veces, tiende a inclinarse en batallas simplistas entre el bien y el mal. Las principales escenas de acción están bastante animadas., no se trata de un festival sangriento, sino de combates estratégicos y bien pensados que transmiten una sensación real. Mars Red es una serie que deberías ver si quieres algo más que un anime de vampiros típico, lleno clichés.

Su ambientación única, y su enfoque en los conflictos políticos y sociales la convierten en una serie bastante atractiva. Aunque se podría haber dado más profundidad a algunos personajes, la serie en su conjunto es sólida. Le doy una puntuación de 8/10. Sin duda, Mars Red merece un lugar en cualquier lista de anime.
