Four years ago I wrote this Post recommending the first season of Industry. The series began with a group of finance graduates in their first job at Pierpoint & Co in London. I saw a lot of potential in its story and characters. I don't think the ratings were very high, there were other shows at the time that were grabbing the audience's attention.
I thought it might only be one season, but being from HBO, they went for a second season which convinced me that it's a great series. The second upped the ante, it was more intense and there was an evolution in all the characters. Even so, I found it a series that didn't have the scope it deserved. It's like that family member who goes unnoticed despite all his talent and I feared it would be cancelled.
Fortunately, they did a third season which just finished a few days ago and for me the show has outdone itself. This third season has been brilliant. Creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay along with their entire team have scrapped all the tired subplots, focusing on digging even deeper into the characters that the viewer loves and pushing them to the limit.

Para mí, como niño inocente, los veía como hombres disfrazados, algunos de aspecto muy femenino, que llevaban tacones altos. Algo que confirmé cuando una de mis tías exclamó que eran gays. Yo no tenía ni idea de eso. Me llamaron la atención los disfraces extravagantes y los grandes abanicos.
Hace cuatro años escribí este post recomendando la primera temporada de Industry. La serie empezaba con un grupo de licenciados en finanzas en su primer trabajo en Pierpoint & Co, en Londres. Vi mucho potencial en su historia y sus personajes. Los índices de audiencia no creo que fueran muy altos, había otras series en ese momento que acaparaban la atención del público.
Pensé que podría ser sólo una temporada, pero siendo de la HBO, apostaron por una segunda temporada que me convenció de que es una gran serie. La segunda subió la apuesta, fue más intensa y hubo una evolución en todos los personajes. Aun así me pareció una serie que no tenía el alcance que se merecía. Es como ese familiar que pasa desapercibido a pesar de todo su talento y temí que la cancelaran.
Afortunadamente, hicieron una tercera temporada que acaba de terminar hace unos días y para mí la serie se ha superado. Esta tercera temporada ha sido brillante. Los creadores Mickey Down y Konrad Kay junto con todo su equipo han desechado todas las subtramas que estaban agotadas, centrándose en profundizar aún más en los personajes que gustan al espectador y llevándolos al límite.
Betrayals. Ambition. Drugs and sex. High doses of drama and sentimental conflict. To all this is added a dose of black humour to make this story set in the world of finance entertaining.
This third season dares to be a thriller. Beginning with a conflict that will influence the whole season. The strange disappearance of Yasmin's father after a trip to Mallorca on his boat. The repercussions of his disappearance, the mystery of discovering what happened and the pressure on Yasmin after her father's millionaire embezzlement and also the labour and sexual abuses in which he seems to be implicated. This will not be the only nod to the thriller. Other characters will be involved with criminals with surprising consequences at the end of the season.
Something that has also boosted this season is the inclusion of the beloved and hated Jon Snow in the cast. Kit Harington joins the industry as Henry Muck, a millionaire with royal connections who launches a green startup. A spoiled child with strange fetishes and an unbridled life. A spoilt child with an eccentric personality befitting those born in a cradle of gold.
I think it also delves a little deeper into the workings of corporate entities. The crisis and the collapse of the banks, the betrayals and lies of all these people who deep down are a bit psychopathic and govern their lives based on making more money, success, feeding their egos. We may not understand some of them, but it makes us investigate and at the same time learn about the bad moves within the industry.
Traiciones. Ambición. Drogas y sexo. Altas dosis de drama y conflictos sentimentales. A todo ello se añade una dosis de humor negro para hacer entretenida esta historia ambientada en el mundo de las finanzas.
Esta tercera temporada se atreve con el thriller. Comenzando con un conflicto que influirá en toda la temporada. La extraña desaparición del padre de Yasmin tras un viaje a Mallorca en su bote. Las repercusiones de su desaparición, el misterio por descubrir qué pasó y la presión sobre Yasmin tras el desfalco millonario de su padre y también los abusos laborales y sexuales en los que parece estar implicado. No será el único guiño al thriller. Otros personajes se verán involucrados con criminales con sorprendentes consecuencias al final de la temporada.
Algo que también ha potenciado esta temporada es la inclusión del querido y odiado Jon Snow en el reparto. Kit Harington se une a la industria como Henry Muck, un millonario con conexiones reales que lanza una startup ecológica. Un niño mimado con extraños fetiches y una vida desenfrenada. Un niño mimado con una personalidad excéntrica propia de los nacidos en cuna de oro.
Creo que también profundiza un poco más en el funcionamiento de las entidades corporativas. Se hace más latente la crisis y el hundimiento de la banca, las traiciones y mentiras de toda esta gente que en el fondo es un poco psicópata y rige su vida en base a ganar más dinero, éxito, alimentar su ego. Tal vez no entendamos a algunos de ellos, pero nos hace investigar y a la vez enterarnos de las malas jugadas dentro de la industria.
The cast and characters have grown. More layers have been added to explore the behaviour of the characters we care most about. Everyone is perfect in their roles and, if it were up to me, I would give them all an award.
Yasmin Yazdani was one of my favourite characters since the first season. Although she is still a woman who is taken advantage of by many for her various insecurities. The evolution of her character is remarkable. Actress Marisa Abela will receive a lot of attention this season. This series has opened doors for her in the industry. She has already been in a couple of good productions and her next project is with director Soderbergh and Cate Blanchett. She is the main protagonist of the series.
Robert is another character who captivates the audience. Especially because of his relationship with Yasmin. It is a relationship that began with a lot of toxicity, a love that seems to be in denial. There are many factors that prevent the two from being honest with each other. Although perhaps this season if they manage to consummate their desire, not everything will end as we want to see them. Their relationship will grow with an unexpected ending.
Harper Stern. The woman who is driven by ambition, without caring about overstepping the bounds of what is right. Although she ended badly in the second season, she is a real financial shark. She has no scruples. A monster, as Yasmin tells him in one of the best scenes of the season. He will rise from the ashes, crushing everyone along the way.
Rishi Sandami is given more of the spotlight this season and we learn much more about his personal life. There is a fabulous episode focusing just on him and it will be a journey into the hell of a man sickened by gambling, which will bring tragic consequences for both his personal and professional life.
Last but not least, the character of Eric. He and Harper are the same. Both are driven by greed, to be the best, to win. Betrayal and lying are part of their DNA. Both are good at their jobs. Both hate and admire each other. From being Harper's mentor, he is now his arch enemy.
Corruption and political gamesmanship. The manipulation of the media. This season has it all and that has made the most specialised critics take notice of this series, I hope it also increases its ratings, because it is really worth watching. It has already been announced that the series has been renewed for a fourth season. If you're attracted to this kind of story, you'll be fascinated by Industria.

El reparto y los personajes han crecido. Se han añadido más capas para explorar el comportamiento de los personajes que más nos importan. Todos son perfectos en sus papeles y, si de mí dependiera, les daría a todos un premio.
Yasmin Yazdani fue uno de mis personajes favoritos desde la primera temporada. Aunque sigue siendo una mujer de la que muchos se aprovechan por sus diversas inseguridades. La evolución de su personaje es notable. La actriz Marisa Abela recibirá mucha atención esta temporada. Esta serie le ha abierto las puertas de la industria. Ya ha participado en un par de buenas producciones y su próximo proyecto es con el director Soderbergh y Cate Blanchett. Ella es la principal protagonista de la serie.
Robert es otro personaje que cautiva al público. Sobre todo por su relación con Yasmin. Es una relación que comenzó con mucha toxicidad, un amor que parece negarse. Hay muchos factores que impiden que ambos sean sinceros el uno con el otro. Aunque quizás esta temporada si consiguen consumar el deseo, no todo acabará como queremos verles. Su relación crecerá con un final inesperado.
Harper Stern. La mujer que se deja llevar por la ambición, sin importarle sobrepasar los límites de lo correcto. Aunque acabó mal en la segunda temporada, es un auténtico tiburón de las finanzas. No tiene escrúpulos. Un monstruo, como le dice Yasmin en una de las mejores escenas de la temporada. Resurgirá de sus cenizas, aplastando a todos por el camino.
Rishi Sandami recibe más protagonismo en esta temporada y conocemos mucho más sobre su vida personal. Hay un episodio fabuloso centrado sólo en él y será un viaje al infierno de un hombre enfermo por el juego, que traerá trágicas consecuencias tanto para su vida personal como profesional.
Por último, pero no menos importante, el personaje de Eric. El y Harper son iguales. A ambos les mueve la codicia, ser el mejor, ganar. La traición y la mentira forman parte de su ADN. Ambas son buenas en su trabajo. Ambas se odian y se admiran. De ser el mentor de Harper, ahora es su archienemigo.
La corrupción y el juego político. La manipulación de los medios de comunicación. Esta temporada lo tiene todo y eso ha hecho que la crítica más especializada se fije en esta serie, espero que también aumente sus audiencias, porque realmente merece la pena verla. Ya han anunciado que la serie ha sido renovada por una cuarta temporada. Si te atraen este tipo de historias, Industria te fascinará.

Hay muchas cosas aquí. Creo que el tema de la startup ecologica me llama la atención. Tema de fomentos y esas cosas. Aunque el punto argumental de la trama se ve muy diverso.

Creo que esta serie te gustara. Se centra en el mundo financiero, trabajan en el área de inversiones de un banco. hay mucha terminología financiera y quizás pro ello no es tan popular.
Todo mezclado con los dramas personales del grupo de jóvenes que comienza a trabajar allí. Esta tercera temporada fue brutal. Dale una oportunidad.
Vamos a ver que tal. Si el tema financiero destaca como lo principal es lo mio.
Realmente esta miniserie tiene de todo, pero de todo y lo combinan muy bien. No he visto el post de hace cuatro años ni la serie pero esta muy interesante el tema, la trama y ver las actuaciones. La actriz me parece preciosa y junto a los demás actores será genial verlos como se desempeñan.

es muy buena serie y esta temporada estuvo fantástica. unos personajes que me encantan y las interpretaciones muy buenas. Se habla muy poco de la serie, aunque tiene su base de seguidores fieles y la critica profesional siempre ha sido positiva.
Entonces merece mucho verla... ya tengo mucho en mi lista!! Buenas noches!
