(ESP-ENG) Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F - Movie Review!

In recent years something has been happening in the world of cinema that in particular does not bother me so much but I can understand that the vast majority if, I mean the lack of new content, original, created from scratch that is being seen lately. I say this because almost all of us are getting used to seeing parts 2,3,4, sequels, prequels and spin-offs of productions that were very successful at some point, and it is so much so that the last Axel Foley movie is 30 years old, it was released in 1994. But then, what is the raison d'être for all this? - I would think it is because of an element which attracts people's attention and generates money at the same time: nostalgia.
Personally I was a consumer of these movies, I am not going to say that I am a fanatic but it is true that at least the last one I liked it a lot which its plot is centered in the amusement park "Wonderworld" where they counterfeited paper money; that film is really good. The thing is that when I saw that a fourth part was coming I didn't expect its plot to change much but I was curious if we were going to see part of the original cast of those years. With low expectations, because I know that these experiments rarely work out well, I decided to sit down to watch this new movie and try to remember why they were so cool in their time.
As is more than obvious, the story follows the particular actions of Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy), this colorful detective loved/hated by everyone both in his native Detroit and in Beverly Hills. Evidently some time has passed, but he continues to act as he always has, in the most reckless way possible but with a barbaric degree of effectiveness. The thing is that his daughter, Jane (Taylour Paige), is a pretty good lawyer who has taken on a case that may put her in a bit of danger as it would be uncovering a major conspiracy in the police of that city. Foley finds out thanks to one of his old friends, Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and sets off to the Californian city.
This is where the plot really kicks in because this is the moment where the whole detective role kicks in. It's not an action movie, at least I don't consider it one, even though there are a couple of chases and exchanges of gunfire. For me it's a comedy, because that's the basis of the story and the character, Foley is extremely jocular in his work, when he has to achieve something he appeals to pure comedy to achieve it. Obviously there is a plot behind but I think what is really worth watching is how things happen and all the unorthodox procedures that our detective uses. But, it's a laugh at the end? - It may bring a smile to your face throughout the film.
The plot is bad, that is, it's anything, it's the flattest thing you can imagine. When it's introduced you already know what's going to happen, who the bad guys are, there's no room for surprise, no interesting plot twists, everything is incredibly linear from beginning to end. This led me to think that the idea behind this film is none other than nostalgic and if it's not that I honestly don't see the point. Because yes, the nostalgic thing is felt: the way Foley dresses, there are almost all the mythical characters of the saga, there are scenes that were recreated to be exactly the same as those of 30 years ago and I think even the jokes, dialogues and interactions seek to remind us of those films.
I am a very nostalgic person, I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, with many things, with music, with technology and of course with movies and television. That's why this movie didn't bother me so much even though it's empty, it doesn't contribute absolutely nothing, as I told you the plot is not worth even reviewing it because we are tired of seeing something like this. But friends, the nostalgia factor is the hook here and with that they succeeded and I bet it will be the reason that will motivate people to see this new Axel's adventure. As for the characters, well, Eddie Murphy is already showing his good years but he is still as charismatic as ever, he has a great magnetism on screen.
The cast is closed, in addition to the already known and historical characters, by Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt with two main characters that try to give a little more depth to the story. In short, it is a movie entirely to pass the time and evoke better times, the essence of Foley is still intact which I appreciate as well as the characters around him. There is comedy, a bit of action and a family drama that doesn't add much either. I give it a 5.5/10 only and I don't want to weigh it down for the nostalgia factor. It lasts less than two hours and you can find it on Netflix. I leave the trailer below.

Kinda expected this one to be uninteresting. It's a done story, and I am not surprised it has a typical, monotone narrative that doesn't excite. The usual reboot bait.
It is just like this. The reality is that it doesn't add anything to what we already know about the story but I think that as a nostalgic thing it does work, as much as necessary but something can be seen.
