(ESP-ENG) Wolfs [2024] - Movie Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
There are couples that will always work in movies and I think Brad Pitt and George Clooney are two of them and Ocean's Eleven was the proof of this statement. It had been a long time since I had seen Clooney in a movie, in fact I don't remember what was the last thing I saw of him so seeing him starring alongside Pitt caught my attention and I had no idea about this film until I got it. Wolfs is an Apple TV+ movie, a platform that has always been known for giving us quality productions, so I didn't hesitate to sit down and watch it.
In this story the names don't matter and it's not because of a transcendental issue but because they are never really revealed. Brad and George are two guys who work in the art of covering things up (crimes mostly); you have a problem, a situation, whatever, you call them and they solve it. The theme here is that unknowingly they are both called in to solve a case involving a very important person who needs to stay under the radar. But don't think they work together, no no, they don't even know each other, so when they arrive at the scene of the crime a battle of egos begins to see who takes over the job.
Everything gets complicated when something happens in the middle of work that completely changes the situation, turning an apparently simple case into a real disaster. From here on, the couple's night goes downhill and they have to find a solution to something they didn't count on. When I talk about couples in movies that always work, I am referring to the chemistry and what they produce when they interact in front of the camera, it is undeniable the comfort and understanding of this couple when acting, everything is fluid, the conversations do not seem scripted, everything is very natural and this makes, at least in my case, the film is doubly enjoyable beyond the plot or the background of the story.
I would categorize this film as a crime thriller that goes hand in hand with comedy. I don't know if you saw and remember the way they talked to each other in Ocean's Eleven, dialogues full of irony, sarcasm and always with a perennial beef; well, that's how it is here. The thing is that by dedicating themselves to the same thing they are like two peas in a pod, they are two people exactly alike so that generates a clash between them and that's when we see these interactions that fall into grace. But all this does not detract from the seriousness of the film, behind it there is a plot full of suspense that as the night progresses becomes more dangerous.
It is a plot that involves drugs, murders, criminal gangs, clandestine contacts and many secrets, let's see the typical. I perceived it as a video game, as you go along you discover things and at the same time everything gets more complicated because an extra layer of difficulty is added. There are shootings, chases; it is a complete film but it could have had a little more action for my taste. The interesting part comes at the end, the film ends incredibly open, leaving the viewer to imagine whatever they want, besides having a curious plot twist. I would think this is because they want to make a sequel but I don't get that feeling. Maybe a lot of people are shocked by the way it ended but well, it's unexpected that's for sure.
In the end it is to see the evolution of the relationship of this couple, how at the beginning they could not even see each other and then end up working together to the point of caring about each other. Keep in mind that both are in their 60's, Clooney three years older but honestly the condition of both is still top, not that we see them doing a thousand things but it shows. On the acting level nothing to say, they are geniuses, the two of them carried the weight of the film alone and without problems. There is a third character, Austin Abrams, who also has no name, who plays a young man on drugs and who is the center of the problem that also has a very good performance, there are a couple of scenes that are very cool to see.
A decent film which sometimes gets very slow, more than it should, but in the end it doesn't bother so much, a little more action wouldn't have been bad. Brad Pitt and George Clooney are always a guarantee, you should always expect something good from them and I think they didn't disappoint here. I give it a 6.5/10, it's a movie you can watch and enjoy a lot. It's not for an Oscar but it's perfect to pass the time. Less than two hours and you can watch it on Apple TV+. I leave the trailer here.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡A hug to everyone, see you next time!
