Films that are pompous, exaggerated, that behind the violent charge they carry an aura of half-absurd and silly comedy for some strange reason attract powerful attention because they are products merely to entertain and that the viewer is enraptured in front of the screen. This is the case of The Killer's Game, a film starring Dave Bautista, one of those actors who do not go unnoticed and because they are rarely as bad at their job as many may think. A story full of murders, hitmen, chases, revenge and love, lots of love. The typical movie to fully enjoy despite its inconsistencies, which we will talk about them.

Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is a contract killer, a hitman, the best in Europe for his high effectiveness but he is tired of that world and is looking to retire. All this is accompanied by a life-changing diagnosis that confirms he has a fatal disease. Not wanting to see himself in the state in which he is likely to end up due to the disease, he orders him to be killed and thus end those months of agony that await. A great detail is that in the midst of all this he meets Maize (Sofia Boutella), a classical dancer with whom he falls in love almost instantly.

With Maize in his life everything gets complicated because she doesn't want anything he does to spill over to her so she will seek to defend her at all costs from the gang of thugs that will soon be in Joe's orbit. Not to make too much of a spoiler something happens that makes Flood change his mind and no longer wants to die so then a fight will begin between hitmen, one to collect what they were promised and the other to defend himself against his own decision. This movie is everything you imagine it to be, chaos, disorder, excessive violence, blood spurting and splattering the screen and some very particular characters, some very typical within what is this type of stories.

It is a pure and hard action film of those that are full of adrenaline from beginning to end, there is no room for elaborate and deep plots; there is not much to think about. All its scenes have a kind of well choreography, it helps that the actors know what they are doing, in fact its cast has known names in melee movies that obviously enhance all the visuals. I think it's impossible to get bored, that in the same sequence we see teeth flying, a broken leg, a man breaking through concrete and a saw stuck in the middle of a face says a lot about the nature of the film.

As you can see, names like Terry Crews, Scott Adkins (one of the best action actors there is for his level in martial arts) and Drew McIntyre (a WWE wrestler, just as Bautista was in his time) are some of those who are present here. All of them, as I said, give an important plus at the time of the fights. There is also another factor and it is comedy. Yes, they appear to be very tough on screen but their performances, all of them, fall into that silly and basic comedy that seeks to combine very well a beating or a dismemberment with some random situation that can get a laugh.

All the actors do their own thing, as it is evident it is not something to sit and watch performances with a magnifying glass but to entertain and deliver high quality scenes. But not everything is good, something that bothered me is that several times Bautista's double was very noticeable in the scenes, these details must be taken care of because it loses seriousness the good scenes. And speaking of the exaggeration of the matter, sometimes the blood looks very fake, when it comes out of the bodies it does not do it in a natural way and that is also noticeable. In the end, these are details that should not happen.

In the end we are in front of a simple film in plot, simple in characters but with some very good doses of action. In spite of the mentioned details, it is not something that makes it a mess or insufferable to watch. I give it a 6/10. Its objective, which is to entertain, was achieved with me but it's not an ode to cinema either, let's be clear. I leave the trailer below.
