In cinema there have been and there are really good and quality action sagas, we all know which are those films but I feel that they rarely talk about those starring Denzel Washington which in my opinion is a mistake because we are facing one of the best stories in the industry. Throughout three films we have seen how this mysterious and non-existent man for everyone has delivered justice left and right without looking for anything in return, only driven by the fact of wanting to do good. The third and apparently the last installment has arrived, as I said in the title, the last dance of this agent is about to come to an end but not before putting some order in European lands.

The Equalizer 3 is the outcropping of a single feeling, just like its predecessors, which for me is the most effective: revenge. When you are watching a movie or series and suddenly a certain character comes along, does the wrong thing and takes advantage of the situation but is immediately put in his place by another person who doesn't have a shred of fear in his body, how do you feel? - Well, that's the feeling that best describes these movies. We'll see the usual, McCall studying the terrain, a very new one for him, understanding what's going on to finally take action. As I said, same script as the previous ones but incredibly effective. Without further ado, let's talk about what this very good film is about.

For those of you who haven't seen the previous ones, I will briefly tell you that Robert McCall is a former US agent, one of the best ever, who is now off the radar dispensing justice thanks to his skills. I also tell you that it is not so necessary to have seen the other two, personally I recommend you to do so. But well, this time we find ourselves in the southern part of Italy, where by fate McCall arrives unexpectedly. He spends a few days in the most typical Italian village by the sea, and soon realizes that it is the ideal place to retire and live. Basically for the quality of the people of the place, the welcome and the affection has been maximum.

But not everything is perfect and that is that the town and its surroundings are under siege by the Italian mafia, La Camorra. It is known that these people are ruthless to the extreme, they have a very great power of coercion and the inhabitants and police can do nothing about it. Fortunately in that town, where some grotesque calamities begin to occur, is McCall who realizing what is really happening decides to take action as we all know he will do. From here on we will see how the film gradually prepares us for the climactic moments.

The film goes from less to more and this is not necessarily a bad thing. The point is that it begins in such a way that it serves to give us context of where we are standing, to understand the real situation and above all to give us empathy and attachment for that town and its people. It is like a "manipulation" so that the affection that McCall managed to have for all that, the viewer also feels it. Obviously this is so that our sense of revenge is greater and is at its peak when the time comes for justice to be served. This is very common in this saga and is something that has always served, hence I believe the success that this story has had. We all like justice to fall for those who deserve it, the thing is that McCall's justice is a bit physical and lethal.

When the action really comes, the film transforms, as does McCall himself. For those who do not know this guy is very methodical and organized but at the same time he knows that what he does is not quite right so he constantly has an internal struggle to convince himself that everything is necessary. He is a killing machine, he doesn't hesitate, he doesn't hesitate and he does it with an astonishing coldness to the point that it seems that at times he enjoys being in control and that the other person suffers slowly. From there to all the scenes are very good, there is no waste, there is a mixture of brutality and violence important but without being grotesque. It's weird but it's a guy who kills with a certain style.

It is a film that does not bore. That "slow" beginning is not tiring at all, at least in my case. It's a story that doesn't have much to analyze, in that sense it's basic but that's how it has always been and I don't see why it had to be changed. Being the last film of this saga throughout it there are certain references to the past that are accompanied with their respective closures so that this third installment would make some sense. I feel it closes well, it leaves no loose ends so the ending is one you would totally expect. If you ask me which of the three I liked the most or which one is better my top would be: this third one, the first one and finally the second one. Actually they are all very worthwhile but the one I felt the most connection with was the last one. All of them have an important human factor, there are many relationships of all kinds and for me this is the one that best encapsulates all those elements.

Denzel Washington is 68 years old, a guy who for his age is perfect. His character is not one of those running or jumping cars, he is one that specializes in close body to body contact and that makes him ten. As I said he is a cold person but deep down he cares about the people that come into his life and what I like the most is that perennial battle he has with himself that drives him to do what he does. A great character has been this Robert McCall. There is also Dakota Fanning who plays a CIA agent, her character is relevant even if it doesn't seem like it, she is very average in acting but the real weight of her is who she really is.

Let's see friends, I really liked the movie, I'm very basic sometimes and that's why I think that this one fulfilled. I never expected a super production because it has not been the style, but the whole point of them is that you always feel the desire for revenge and here they capture it excellently. An 8.5/10 because my expectations were covered, I didn't need more of the film to end up liking it, McCall is not an Ethan Hunt that jumps from one country to another. Sometimes little is better. It's just under two hours long. I'll leave the trailer below for you to check out.
