Hay películas que uno las comienza a ver sin saber exactamente que esperar y resultan siendo verdaderas joyas, esas de las que muy pocas personas están comentando y hablando. Pero no las culpo porque cuando ven un film que está compuesto casi en un 100% por actores de la India es posible que el interés caiga un poco y que por la mente se nos cruce algo referente a Bollywood, cosa que por lo menos a mi no me llama mucho la atención. Pero déjenme decirles que no hay nada más alejado de esa realidad que esta película, una que fue dirigida por Dev Patel y producida por Jordan Peele; un film con una intensidad de principio a fin, con una violencia sin sentido y siendo frenetica las casi dos horas que tiene como duración.

There are movies that you start watching without knowing exactly what to expect and they turn out to be real gems, those that very few people are commenting and talking about. But I don't blame them because when they see a film that is almost 100% composed by Indian actors, it is possible that the interest falls a little and that in our minds something related to Bollywood crosses our minds, something that at least to me doesn't call my attention. But let me tell you that there is nothing further from that reality than this film, one that was directed by Dev Patel and produced by Jordan Peele; a film with an intensity from beginning to end, with senseless violence and being frenetic almost two hours long.

Esta película está basada en Hánuman, quien es el dios Mono de los hinduistas, uno que se caracteriza por su fuerza y sus valores. Resulta que está Kid (Dev Patel) un tipo que pelea en estos sitios clandestinos callejeros, es alguien que no tiene nada que perder porque ya lo perdió todo en el pasado por lo que solo se presenta para que lo golpeen y así recibir algo de dinero. El tema es que por muchos años él ha llevado una carga encima que espera algún día quitársela por completo, un ajuste de cuenta, una venganza que aspira hacer efectiva muy pronto pero para ello tendrá que hacer ciertas cosas primero.

This movie is based on Hánuman, who is the Monkey god of the Hindu, one who is characterized by his strength and values. It turns out that there is Kid (Dev Patel) a guy who fights in these underground street venues, he is someone who has nothing to lose because he already lost everything in the past so he just shows up to get beaten up and get some money. The thing is that for many years he has been carrying a burden that he hopes one day to get rid of completely, a settling of scores, a revenge that he aspires to make effective very soon but for that he will have to do certain things first.

Cuales son esas cosas? - pues entre tantas le tocará infiltrarse entre la élite de la ciudad para poder acercarse a las personas que quiere hacer pagar. Una vez allí se dará cuenta de lo podrido que está el poder, de lo siniestro que pueden ser algunas personas y sus comportamientos y evidentemente de la corrupción que impera. Todo esto no será más que gasolina que usará para terminar de consumar su objetivo. A partir de acá nos espera un viaje sin frenos, un camino muy oscuro lleno de una violencia desmedida y hasta sin sentido en ocasiones en el que Kid le tocará convivir. La verdad es que esta película es cóctel para todos aquellos que somos fanáticos de la acción.

Once there, he will realize how rotten power is, how sinister some people and their behavior can be, and obviously the corruption that reigns. All this will be nothing more than gasoline that he will use to complete his goal. From here on a journey without brakes awaits us, a very dark road full of excessive violence and even senseless at times in which Kid will have to live. The truth is that this movie is a cocktail for all of us who are action fans.

Después de verla me puse a leer un poco al respecto y hubo personas que llegaron a la misma conclusión que yo: "este tipo es el John Wick de la India" y pensando en frío les digo que si, tiene muchas similitudes. El contexto de su personaje, sus motivaciones, forma de vestir, de pelear, apegos, todo nos recuerda un poco a Wick. Y es que si amigos, de los factores más relevante de esta película son sus secuencias de pelea, todas excelentemente logradas, llenas de litros de sangre, las armas que se imaginan, el combate cuerpo a cuerpo a punta de puños y patadas; todo esto de la mano de una violencia al máximo nivel y es que claro, cuando entiendan el por qué de las acciones de Kid pues les aseguro que su empatía será grande.

After watching it, I started to read a bit about it and there were people who came to the same conclusion as me: “this guy is the John Wick of India” and thinking coldly I say that yes, he has many similarities. The context of his character, his motivations, his way of dressing, fighting, attachments, everything reminds us a little bit of Wick. And yes friends, one of the most relevant factors of this film are its fight sequences, all excellently achieved, full of liters of blood, the weapons you can imagine, the hand to hand combat with fists and kicks; all this hand in hand with a violence at the highest level and of course, when you understand the reason for the actions of Kid, I assure you that your empathy will be great.

Al ser una película en su totalidad india es una que está llena de caos, nos muestra como es la vida en estas ciudades del país por lo que el desorden está a la orden del día. También nos muestra mucho cosas referentes al hinduismo y la cultura popular de la India, ese aspecto es muy top porque nos sumerge en cosas que para muchos son nuevas o no estamos acostumbrados a ver en el cine. El apartado cultural es muy enriquecedor, es de las cosas que más disfruté porque se combina muy bien todo, sus creencias con el día a día y eso es algo que resaltan bastante acá. Hay un poco de política también, es sabido que en la India hay muchos cultos que les llegan a las personas a través de todo esto y eso se ve aquí, cómo los políticos se agarran de eso y actúan con total impunidad.

Being a film that is entirely Indian is one that is full of chaos, it shows us how life is in these cities of the country so the disorder is the order of the day. It also shows us a lot of things related to Hinduism and popular culture of India, that aspect is very top because it immerses us in things that for many are new or we are not used to seeing in the cinema. The cultural section is very enriching, it is one of the things I enjoyed the most because it combines everything very well, their beliefs with everyday life and that is something that stands out a lot here. There is also a bit of politics, it is known that in India there are many cults that reach people through all this and that is seen here, how politicians take advantage of that and act with impunity.

En cuanto a los personajes pues decir que el protagonista, Dev, actuó de una forma sobresaliente. Me sorprendió mucho la agilidad que muestra en cámara en cuanto a las peleas, esto no es un apartado fácil de lograr pero él sin problema alguno entregó grandes escenas. También que cuando le toca mostrar la rabia, ira y tristeza hasta los ojos le cambian, el lenguaje corporal es otro y es tal cual como este Dios al que hacen referencia: Hánuman. Los antagonistas igualmente estuvieron a la altura, sobretodo Rana (Sikandar Kher) quien es el jefe de la policía, un tipo realmente detestable. Esto hay que decirlo pero la industria del cine en India es inmensa y masiva por lo que en efecto hay muy buenos actores.

As for the characters, the main character, Dev, acted in an outstanding way. I was very surprised by the agility he shows on camera in terms of fights, this is not an easy section to achieve but he delivered great scenes without any problem. Also when it's his turn to show rage, anger and sadness even his eyes change, his body language is different and he is just like this God they refer to: Human. The antagonists were also up to the task, especially Rana (Sikandar Kher) who is the police chief, a really obnoxious guy. This has to be said but the Indian film industry is huge and massive so there are indeed very good actors.

Realmente una película que me sorprendió mucho para bien, no esperaba que fuera tan frenética y entretenida. Un 8.5/10, vale mucho la pena echarle un ojo y más si te gusta el género; acción, persecuciones, peleas, gore, cultura, política, como dije antes, es un cóctel. Tiene una duración de poco menos de dos horas. Les dejo el tráiler para que vean más o menos como va.

Really a movie that surprised me a lot for the good, I didn't expect it to be so frenetic and entertaining. An 8.5/10, it's well worth a watch and more if you like the genre; action, chases, fights, gore, culture, politics, as I said before, it's a cocktail. It has a duration of just under two hours. Una película india de acción frenética, violencia y venganzas, que además explora la cultura e idiosincrasia del país... Definitivamente tengo que verla🤸🏾‍♀️✨️
