You'd do anything for everyone to like you, you're not a hero | Gen V

After I finished watching the series a few days ago I ended up with a hypomanic episode, so, yes, I liked it a lot, too much, and I'm glad it happened that way. It took me so long to watch it because I had too many expectations, and I dare say that almost all of them were fulfilled in the best possible way, it still seems like a teenage series that doesn't make sense or logic many times, but even those parts have a reason to be, I just wish it wouldn't have been so many parts like that.

Gen V is about the first generation of superheroes who know that their powers come from Compound V instead of some rare genetic mutation or just existential luck, and as such, there are many things yet to be discovered, especially for Marie Moreau, who against all odds, manages to be accepted at the Godolking University, where the best superheroes are created, practically, and like all cliché series, things only start to get worse and develop after their arrival at the university, so we are only left to see this generation of heroes deal with social pressures, what is expected of them, what they really want to do, so we will see how much they can mold the concept of what is moral and what is not, just to be accepted by a world that sometimes wishes they had not existed altogether.

Después de terminar de ver la serie hace unos días terminé con un episodio hipomaníaco, así que, sí, me gustó muchísimo, demasiado, y me alegro de que haya sucedido así. Tardé tanto en verla porque tenía demasiadas expectativas, y me atrevo a decir que casi todas fueron cumplidas de la mejor forma posible, igual parece serie adolescente que no tiene sentido ni lógica muchas veces, pero hasta esas partes tienen una razón de ser, solo que ojalá no huberian sido tantas partes así.

Gen V trata sobre la primera generación de superhéroes que saben que sus poderes provienen del Compuesto V en vez de alguna rara mutación genétiva o solo suerte existencial, y como tal, hay muchas cosas todavá por descubrir, en especial para Marie Moreau, quien en contra de todo pronóstico, logra ser aceptada en la universidad Godolking, donde los mejores superhéroes son creados, prácticamente, y como toda serie cliché, las cosas solo comienzan a empeorar y desarrollarse después de su llegada a la universidad, así que solo nos queda ver a esta generación de héroes lidiar con las presiones sociales, lo que se espera de ellos, lo que en realidad quieren hacer, por lo que veremos qué tanto pueden llegar a moldear el concepto de lo que es moral y lo que no, solo para ser aceptados por un mundo que a veces quisiera que no hubieran existido por completo.

Marie will be our protagonist, a black woman with blood powers, something that most of America would despise without a problem, and that they would not be afraid to express, not now, not ten or twenty years ago. Marie will be involved in a school drama with several students who are in the top 10, but when everything seems to go against her, she will benefit from everything that is happening, here moral questioning and all that comes into play, but it all ends up in the background because there is no time for that, there are people who need help and as in every cliché series, only they can offer that help, because those who are in power are the bad guys, although according to them they are not bad, so they are different bad guys from other bad guys. Sí, Gen V es una perfecta demostración de lo que es el mundo real para la Generazión Z, cosa que pensé que harían muy mal, pero no, lo hicieron casi a la perfección, desde el primer minuto en que dan a entender que los superhéroes en realidad son influencers con cierto tiempo de durabilidad en el mercado, todo es perfección, y eso lo dejan claro muy desde el principio; pues Godolking tiene un ranking de superhéores, siendo quienes están en el top 10 los mejores de todo el campus, y sí, ese ranking se elige en base a popularidad, menciones en redes sociales, aceptación social, y todo eso, entonces, no es tanto lo que puedan hacer para salvar a las personas, es sobre qué tanto pueden hacer para hacerse virales, en el buen sentido, aunque usen malas técnicas, para así clavar sus garras entre los mejores 100 de la escuela, pues el top 10 es demasiada avaricia incluso para muchos de ellos.

Marie será nuestra protagonista, una mujer negra con poderes de sangre, algo que la mayoría de estados unidos despreciaría sin problema alguno, y que no tendrían miedo de expresar, no ahora, ni hace diez o veinte años. Marie se verá envuelta en un drama escolar con varios estudiantes que están en el top 10, pero cuando todo parece ir en su contra, se verá beneficiada de todo lo que está sucediendo, aquí entran en juego el cuestionamiento moral y todo eso, pero todo termina en segundo plano porque no hay tiempo para eso, hay personas que necesitan ayuda y como en toda serie cliché, solo ellos pueden ofrecer esa ayuda, porque quienes están en el poder son los malos, aunque según ellos no son malos, por lo que son unos malos diferentes de otros malos. Ñe.

I could talk about all the characters, but no, I will only talk about my favorite character, Jordan Li, a bigender asian superhero. Among many of the superpowers Jordan has, changing gender is one of them, and it really applies, because not only does he change his appearance or physical composition, but also his pronouns, the way he behaves, the way he likes to be treated, and all that. From the first moment I saw him change his gender I died, and the more I got to know them I died a lot more. I loved him completely and I still love him.

Jordan Li is a better version of what non-binary, gender fluid, genderqueer, and transgender people in general would become, because what for us would be something that would take a lot of work, a lot of money, a lot of questioning, Jordan has the power to just do it, which would be to change his body on a whim and be what he wants to be according to how he feels or what he wants to be. Jordan was born a boy, but thanks to Compound V from a very early age he could change his gender at will, and the world, especially his father, took the fact that Jordan preferred to be in a woman's body, when his father and the world were the ones who decided to give an experimental drug to a baby in the hope that he would get powers that they could take advantage of financially. I mean, fuck it all, fuck his parents and the whole world. I love you, Jordan.

Les podría hablar de todos los personajes, pero no, solo les hablaré de mi personaje favorite, Jordan Li, une superhéroe asiatique bigénero. Entre muchos de los superpoderes que tiene Jordan, el camiar de género es uno de ellos, y sí aplica de verdad, porque no solo cambia su apariencia o composición física, sino que también cambian sus pronombres, la forma en que se comporta, la forma en que le gusta que le traten, y todo eso. Desde el primer momento que le vi cambiar de género morí, y mientras más les conocía moría mucho más. Le amé por completo y le sigo amando.

Jordan Li es una mejor versión de lo que vendríamos siendo las personas no binarias, de género fluido, con más de un género, y las personas transgénero en general, porque lo que para nosotres vendría siendo algo que costaría mucho trabajo, mucho dinero, mucho cuestionamiento, Jordan tiene el poder de hacerlo y ya, que sería cambiar su cuerpo a su antojo y ser lo que quiere ser según cómo se sienta o se le antoje. Jordan nació siendo un niño, pero gracias al Compuesto V desde muy temprana edad pudo cambiar de género a su antojo, y el mundo, en especial su padre, se tomó el hecho de que Jordan prefiriera estar en el cuerpo de una mujer, cuando su padre y el mundo fueron quienes decidieron darle una droga experimental a un bebé con la esperanza de que obtuviera poderes de los que se pudieran aprovechar económicamente. Es decir, a la mierda todo, que se jodan sus padres y el mundo entero. Te amo, Jordan.

Oh, I went to check out Molly, Patty, Nezu, and Capri's podcast, called Transnochando, where they invited Vivi, a trans streamer from Spain who suffered a transphobic attack and had her Twitch channel shut down, but thanks to Molly her unbanning went faster, and well, they invited her to the podcast and spent two hours talking and educating about the reality of trans people's lives and that you're not trans or non-binary to seek to do anyone wrong. Look for it, this week's episode is totally worth it.

I don't even know how to end the post anymore, this series out of the world of The Boys, is very good on its own, but it could have been so much better if it wasn't in the middle of the third and fourth season of The Boys, or if it was just a spin off and had no impact or relevance to what is going to be the fourth season, whenever it comes out. So, it was a good series, but it could have been much better, I loved it, yes, the fights, the humor is very much my style, the middle is a bit boring because of the clichés, but the end, I loved it, but it would have been better if it wasn't limited by The Boys.

Ay, me fui a ver el podcast de Molly, Patty, Nezu, y Capri, que se llama Transnochando, donde invitaron a Vivi, una streamer trans de España que sufrió un ataque transfóbico y le cerraron el canal de Twitch, pero gracias a Molly su desbaneo fue más rápido, y bueno, la invitaron al podcast y pasaron dos horas hablando y educando sobre la realidad de la vida de la personas trans y que no se es trans o no binario para buscar hacerle mal a nadie. Búsquenlo, el episodio de esta semana vale totalmente la pena.

Ya ni sé cómo terminar la publicación, esta serie salida del mundo de The Boys, es muy buena por si sola, pero pudo haber sido mucho mejor si no estuviera en medio de la tercera y la cuerta temporada de The Boys, o si solo fuera un spin off y no tuviera impacto o relevancia en lo que va a ser la cuarta temporada, cuando sea que salga. Entonces, fue una buena serie, pero pudo ser muchísimo mejor, la amé, sí, las peleas, el humor muy de mi estilo, la mitad es media aburrida por los clichés que mete, pero el final, me encantó, pero hubiera sido mejor si no estuviera limitada por The Boys.
