The Truman Show | We accept the reality of the world with which we're presented

I'm cold, I'm sleepy, I'm hungry, my stomach hurts, and I'm in the middle of a crisis that seems to have no end, similar to the one I had two years ago when I almost committed suicide, so since nothing is going to solve all this, I start writing about The Truman Show, a movie that was recommended to me less than I would expect, and the last time they did it was more than three years ago, and I don't even remember who it was. I didn't even know what it was about, I only knew it starred Jim Carrie and that was it, otherwise, I was a blank page when I saw the movie, and the end result of my existence after watching it was not pretty, so it's only after several months that I remember having seen it and dare to write about it. I want tea, I'm too lazy to do it.

The Truman Show follows the life of Truman, who lives in a perfect world, a reality that fits like a second skin to his existence, only it doesn't feel quite right, not right at all. The true reality is that Truman was adopted (bought, practically) by a television production company and they decided to broadcast his life from the very moment of his birth as the biggest TV show of the time, only that Truman was not going to have free will, his life was going to be written in advance and he would only have to live the events that they had already decided would take place in his life. This looks like a horror movie, rather than a comedy movie, which is how it is usually sold, it is more of a drama with psychological terror than anything else, but it has Jim Carrie, when he wants to he can turn completely traumatic events into pure comedy, and since more than half the world has the same amount of trauma, we laugh along with him as if it was something normal, when it is not.

Tengo frío, tengo sueño, tengo hambre, me duele el estómago, y estoy en medio de una crisis que parece no tener fin, parecida a la que tuve hace dos años cuando casi me suicido, así que como nada va a resolver todo esto, me pongo a escribir sobre The Truman Show, una película que me recomendaron menos de lo que esperaría, y la última vez que lo hicieron fue hace más de tres años, y ni siquiera recuerdo quien fue. Ni siquiera sabía de qué se trataba, solo sabía que era protagonizada por Jim Carrie y ya, de resto, yo era una página en blanco al momento de ver la película, y el resultado final de mi existencia después de verla no fue nada bonito, así que solo después de varios meses es que recuerdo haberla visto y me atrevo a escribir sobre ella. Quiero té, tengo flojera de hacerlo.

The Truman Show sigue la vida de Truman, quien vive en un mundo perfecto, una realidad que se ajusta como una segunda piel a su existencia, solo que no siente del todo bien, para nada correcto. la verdadera realidad es que Truman fue adoptado (comprado, prácticamente) por una productora televisiva y decidieron transmitir su vida desde el mismo momento de su nacimiento como el mayor progama de la telivisión de la época, solo que Truman no iba a tener libre albedrío, su vida iba a estar escrita de ante mano y él solo tendría que vivir los eventos que ya habían decidido que tendrían lugar en su vida. Esto parece una película de terror, más que una película de comedia, que es como suele ser vendida, es más un drama con terror psicológio que otra cosa, pero tiene a Jim Carrie, cuando él quiere puede convertir eventos completamente traumáticos en comedia pura, y como ya más de la mitad del mundo tiene la misma cantidad de traumas, nos reímos junto a él como si fuera algo normal, cuando no lo es.

One of the first things I thought to see the film was that I seemed incredible that a film of this type has been made in the year I was born, and yes, this film will meet 25 years, I'm missing me several weeks, several months film, so there is no rush any one, happy 25 years, Truman, although there have not been for anything happy.

Nowadays people create tragedies and conspiracy theories out of anything, and they are doing it a lot with this movie, even if it doesn't seem so, but still, extremes are not healthy, although in this case they are not demonizing the movie directly, but they are doing it with the plot, there are obviously a lot of things wrong with the fact that everything they did with Truman's life, but that is the magic of fiction, can be done a lot of things with her, and although in this case the gap case with the reality is very thin, and you can get to say that many times parents do the same thing with their children, is something that will never come to such extremes, or at least that we hope.

Una de las primeras cosas que pensé al ver la película fue que me parecía increíble que una película de este tipo haya sido hecha en año en el que yo nací, y sí, esta película va a cumplir 25 años, a mí me faltan varias semanas, a la película varios meses, así que no hay apuro alguno, felices 25 años, Truman, aunque no hayan sido para nada felices.

Actualmente la gente crea tragedias y teorías conspiranóicas de cualquier cosa, y lo están haciendo mucho con esta película, aunque no lo pareciera, pero igual, los extremos no son sanos, aunque en este caso no están demonizando la película directamente, pero sí lo están haciendo con la trama, que obviamente hay muchas cosas mal con el hecho de todo lo que hicieron con la vida de Truman, pero esa es la magia de la ficción, pueden hacerse muchas cosas con ella, y aunque en este caso la brecha con la realidad es muy delgada, y se puede llegar a decir que muchas veces los padres hacen lo mismo con sus hijos, es algo que nunca llegará a tales extremos, o al menos eso esperamos.

One of the things I really liked about the movie was the use they made of romance, normally I usually hate this and I find it ridiculous that they put a love interest in the middle of something that has nothing to do with love and romance, but here it was fair and necessary, because without that love interest Truman would never have been interested in leaving so intensely the city he lived in, which I never told you, but it was the biggest TV studio ever built, so much so, that you could see it from space.

Another thing I liked, and that goes hand in hand with this, is that once Truman realized that a lot of weird things were happening around him and that somehow he couldn't leave the city, love interest or not, his desire to leave became impossible to contain, and effectively, he started doing the impossible to want to leave, and just like it says in the trailer, he was asking for help because he was being spontaneous, and that was something he had noticed was practically forbidden in his life, like I said, a comedy in the middle of a tragedy.

Una de las cosas que me gustó mucho de la película fue el uso que le dieron al romance, normalmente suelo odiar esto y me parece ridículo que metan un interes amorosa en medio de algo que no tiene nada que ver con el amor y el romance, pero aquí fue justo y necesario, porque sin ese interés amoroso Truman nunca se hubiera interesado en abandonar tan intensamente la ciudad en la que vivía, que nunca les dije, pero era el estudio de televisión más grande jamás construido, tanto así, que se podía ver desde el espacio.

Otra cosa que me gustó, y que va de la mano de esto, es que una vez que Truman se dio cuenta de que muchas cosas raras estaban sucedio a su alrededor y que de alguna forma no podía abandonar la ciudad, con interés amoroso o no, sus ganas de irse se volvieron imposible de contener, y efecticamente, comenzó a hacer hasta lo imposible por querer irse, y justo como dice en el trailer, pedía ayuda porque estaba siendo espontáneo, y eso era algo que había notado que estaba prácticamente prohibido en su vida, como les dije, una comedia en medio de una tragedia.

One of the most interesting things, at least for me, and that I wish it had been addressed more, was the multiple and different views of humanity of everything that was happening around Truman, yes, there was a small organization that was fighting for Truman to be released from the complete confinement in which he lived and really know the world around him and that was not at all like what he was living, and on the other hand we have the rest of humanity deciding to stay in their homes, in their jobs, in public places, consuming Truman's life as if it were not happening to someone real, which leads us to question not only the morality of people, but how distorted it can be as they consider something common and normal, or not, because just as the creator of the show comes to say, Truman had not tried to escape before the life he had because it was the reality that had been presented to him and by him accepting that reality, the world outside him had also accepted it, coming to normalize and accept something that otherwise would never have come to take place.

You can tell that this is an old trailer, because it leaves nothing to the imagination, it shows the essence of the film as it tells almost everything that happens, because although it says many things, and I told you many things here, there are still many things that this film hides and that it is better to discover by our own means, to not have any external suggestion when forming opinions about what we see, especially when we are judging something as important as can become the existence of a person who has lived a lie all his life, in a more literal way than we can imagine.

Una de las cosas más interesantes, al menos para mí, y que quisiera que se hubiera abordaba más, era las múltiples y diferentes visiones de la humanidad de todo lo que estaba pasando alrededor de Truman, sí, había una pequeña organización que luchaba para que Truman fuera liberado del completo encierro en el que él vivía y conociera de verdad el mundo que lo rodeaba y que no era para nada como lo que estaba viviendo, y por otro lado tenemos al resto de la humanidad decidiendo quedarse en sus casas, en sus trabajos, en lugares públicos, consumiendo la vida de Truman como si no le estuviera pasando a alguien real, lo que nos lleva a cuestionar no solo la moral de las personas, si no lo distorsionada que esta puede llegar a estar según consideren algo común y normal, o no, porque justo como el creador del show llega a decir, Truman no había intentando escapar antes de la vida que tenía porque era la realidad que le habían presentado y al él aceptar esa realidad, el mundo afuera de él también la había aceptado, llegando a normalizar y aceptar algo que de otra forma nunca habría llegado a tener lugar.

Este se nota que es un trailer antiguo, pues no deja nada a la imaginación, muestra tal cual la esencia de la película mientras cuenta casi todo lo que sucede, pues aunque dice muchas cosas, y yo les dije muchas cosas aquí, aún hay muchas cosas que esta película oculta y que es mejor descubrir por nuestros propios medios, para no tener ninguna sugestión externa al momento de formarnos opiniones sobre lo que vemos, más aún cuando se está juzgando algo tan importante como puede llegar a ser la existencia de una persona que ha vivido una mentira toda su vida, de una forma más literal de lo que podemos llegar a imaginar.
