Nimona | I see you, Nimona, and you're not alone

Kids. Little kids. They grow up believing that they can be a hero if they drive a sword into the heart of anything different. And I'm the monster? I don't know what's scarier. The fact that everyone in this kingdom wants to run a sword through my heart... or that sometimes, I just wanna let 'em.

I had planned to do this review last week, but on Wednesday I got sick and spent more than three days without eating, I threw up everything, the little energy I had was spent sleeping, because yes, even sleeping made me tired, although it was a small relief from the fever, otherwise, I spent the time staring at the ceiling without being able to move, I saw the movie days before I got sick, and I knew that the freshness and lightness with which it was made would do me good, and yes, watching it helped me a lot, I could hardly laugh, but the feeling of joy was there, relieving me a little, and I owed it all to Nimona.

We will believe at first that this is the story of Ballister, a man with whom a millennium of tradition is about to be broken, because only those who have noble blood can become knights and defend the kingdom, but Ballister has no noble blood, which makes his knighthood something with unprecedented; then The Queen dies, Ballister is blamed, he didn't do it, and we meet Nimona, a completely chaotic teenage shapeshifter, and we will love her for it, who will ally herself with Ballister not only to prove his innocence, but perhaps save the kingdom from its own destruction, while Nimona gets a friend for the first time.

Tenía pensado hacer esta reseña la semana pasada, pero el míercoles me enfermé y pasé más de tres días sin comer, todo lo vomitaba, la poca energía que tenía la gastaba durmiendo, porque sí, incluso dormir me cansaba, aunque era un pequeño alivio de la fiebre, de resto, pasaba el tiempo mirando el techo sin poder moverme, al menos que me acomodara lentamente para poder ver algo que en el televisor, y lo que hacía era ver Nimona, vi la película dias antes de enfermarme, y sabía que la frescura y ligereza con que está hecha me iba a hacer bien, y sí, verla me ayudaba mucho, casi no me podía reir, pero el sentimiento de alegría estaba ahí, aliviándome un poco, y todo se lo debía a Nimona.

Creeremos al principio que esta es la historia de Ballister, un hombre con quien está a punto de romperse un milenio de tradición, pues solo los que tienen sangre de la nobleza pueden llegar a hacerse caballeros y defender el reino, pero Ballister no tiene sangre noble, lo que hace que su nombramiento como caballero sea algo con imprecedentes; entonces La Reina muere, culpan a Ballister, él no lo hizo, y conocemos a Nimona, una adolescente cambiaformas completamente caótica, y la amaremos por eso, que se aliará con Ballister no solo para probar su inocencia, si no tal vez salvar al reino de su propia destrucción, a la vez que Nimona consigue por primera vez un amigo.

This is the last production under the Blue Studios name, something that Disney will never be forgiven for, and we have Netflix to thank for finishing the creation of the movie. This movie is based on a graphic novel, and already, I don't know what else to say, I wish they had made it a little longer, not much, but only because I didn't want it to end, I didn't know how long it was when I started watching it and when I thought it was barely halfway through it actually had fifteen minutes left to go and it worried me, it worried me a lot.

The relationship between Ballister and Nimona is going to be total madness, Nimona is like a chihuaha who finally has the means to destroy the world and Ballister is the one who has the mail and won't let her do it, not in a literal way, but almost, we will always see Nimona wanting to kill people and destroying things, doing everything big with explosions and disasters, but Ballister won't let her do it, although Nimona does it anyway, he can't stop her, but at least he makes her have a little more consideration for everyone. Nimona is too unhinged to be able to control herself at all, Metal runs through her veins.

Esta es la última producción bajo el nombre de Blue Studios, algo que nunca se le perdonará a Disney, y que hay que agradecer a Netflix por haber terminado la creación de la película. Esta película está basada en una novela gráfica, y ya, no sé qué más decir, ojalá la hubieran hecho un poco más larga, no mucho, pero solo porque no quería que se terminara, no sabía cuánto duraba cuando la comencé a ver y cuando creí que apenas iba por la mitad en realidad le faltaban quince minutos para terminar y me preocupó, me preocupó mucho.

La relación entre Ballister y Nimona va a ser una locura total, Nimona es como un chihuaha que finalmente tiene los medios para destruir al mundo y Ballister es quien tiene la correo y no la deja hacerlo, no en una forma literal, pero casi, siempre veremos a Nimona queriendo matar gente y destruyendo cosas, haciendo todo a lo grande con explosiones y desastres, pero Ballister no la deja hacerlo, aunque Nimona igual lo hace, no puede detenerla, pero al menos hace que ella tenga un poco más de consideración con todo el mundo. Nimona es demasiado desquiciada como para que pueda controlarse del todo, el Metal corre por sus venas.

One of my many favorite things in the movie is when Ballister asks Nimona what drives her to change her ways so many times, what motivates her, what provokes her, and Nimona simply answers that she doesn't know, she just understands that it is something that is in her nature, it makes her feel good, and that it is the right thing to do, that it is something she was born to do, and if she doesn't do it, she simply wouldn't be living the life she would have to live. That little conversation is more powerful than you might expect, and I wanted to explain why, but if you have two fingers in front of you you'll understand, I don't have the energy to write that much yet.

One of the things that I think they could have improved was the soundtrack, and it's not that it's bad, it's just that it could be a lot more metal than it already is, although in a way I understand it, it's not that they were going to put Heavy Metal or Trash Metal, but yes, it is, a much heavier version with gutturals and screams of goats and pigs in the slaughterhouse I would have liked more for Nimona, maybe that would be better for an adult version of her fighting aliens or something like that, I don't know, I want to go back to sleep, the lack of energy I have is monumental.

Una de mis muchas cosas favoritas de la película es cuando Ballister le pregunta a Nimona qué es lo que la lleva a cambiar de formas tantas veces, qué la motiva, qué la provoca, y Nimona simplemente le contesta que no lo sabe, solo entiende que es algo que está en su naturaleza, la hace sentir bien, y que es lo correcto de hacer, que es algo para lo que ella nació, y si no lo hace, simplemente no estaría viviendo la vida que tendría que vivir. Esa pequeña conversación es más poderosa de lo que pueden llegar a esperar, y quería explicarles el por qué, pero si tienen dos dedos de frente lo van a entender, aún no tengo la energía suficiente como para escribir tanto.

Una de las cosas que creo que puedieron haber mejorado fue el soundtrack, y no es que está mal, es que puedo llegar a ser mucho más metal de lo que ya es, aunque en cierta forma lo entiendo, no es que iban a poner Heavy Metal o Trash Metal, pero sí, una versión mucho más pesada y con guturales y gritos de cabras y cerdos en el matadero me hubiera gustado más para Nimona, igual eso sería mejor para una versión ya adulta de ella mientras pelea con alienigenas o algo así, no sé, ya quiero volver a dormir, la falta de energía que tengo es monumental.

One of my favorite things, and one I never got to expect to see, was a gay couple here, in none of the hundreds of posts I saw about Nimona did they ever mention that Ballister and Ambrosius were a couple, and I understand if they did, but I was still very disappointed. Hate comments don't have to condition what is said or not about a movie that has lgbtqia+ characters, even worse when they are adults with kids complaining because according to them they are indoctrinating their kids, I wish they knew the meaning of those words, anyway, let them go eat shit, the movie is a total success, my second favorite animated movie of the year after Spider-man.

The amount of topics that are addressed here is absurd, all serious and with great importance, so much so, that the relationship between two people of the same sex is nothing compared to the rest. The true meaning of friendship, the betrayal of those you love, the misrepresentation of information by people of power and how it is taken as true by the rest of the world without question, the fear of the unknown and how people prefer to destroy than to understand and know, suicide... I love you so much, Nimona, I think I like you better than Spider-man, I really do. And I don't recommend you to watch the trailer, it says a lot, but you can still enjoy the movie.

Una de mis cosas favoritas, y que nunca llegué a esperar ver, fue una pareja gay aquí, en ninguna de las cientos de publicaciones que vi sobre Nimona llegaron a mencionar que Ballister y Ambrosius eran pareja, y entiendo que lo hayan hecho, pero igual me decepcionó mucho. Los comentarios de odio no tienen por que condicionar lo que se dice o no de una película que tiene personajes lgbtqia+, peor aún cuando son adultos con hijos que se quejan porque según ellos están indoctrinando a sus hijos, ojalá ellos supieran el significado de esas palabras, en fin, que vayan a comer mierda, la película es un éxito total, mi segunda película animada favorita del año después de la de Spider-man.

La cantidad de temas que se abordan aquí es absurda, todos serios y con suma importancia, tanto así, que la relación entre dos personas del mismo sexo es algo nimio en comparación lo demás. El verdadero significado de amistad, la traición de quienes quieres, la tergiversación de la información por las personas de poder y cómo esta es tomada por cierta por el resto del mundo sin cuestionarlo, el miedo a lo desconocido y cómo las personas prefieren destruir que entender y conocer, el suicidio... Te amo mucho, Nimona, creo que me gustas más que la de Spider-man, de verdad. Y no les recomiendo ver el trailer, dice mucho, pero igual se puede disfrutar la película.
