The sequel "Top Gun: Maverick" has proven to be one of the biggest cinematic events of the year, surpassing all expectations.

After more than 30 years of waiting, Joseph Kosinski manages the feat of living up to the original classic with a production on par with a modern blockbuster.

To see Tom Cruise once again playing Maverick with a unique physical and acting intensity was a real treat.

The aerial scenes, with some of the most spectacular action sequences ever filmed, are breathtaking.

But perhaps the best part is how it honours the legacy of the original through a script that promotes values such as comradeship and honour.

Hans Zimmer's soundtrack once again raises the heart to 1000 rpm. It is impossible not to sing along to the classic themes.

Undoubtedly, the film of the summer that has moved several generations. Cinema at its best.

It was nominated for an Oscar in the categories of Best Editing, Best Sound and Best Original Song, personally I think that the director Joseph Kosinski and Cruise should have opted for the Oscar for Best Direction and Best Actor.

It grossed over 1.4 billion dollars, making it the highest grossing film of Cruise's career.
