Director Shawn Levy has made the most of the performances of a stellar cast in this witty and touching family comedy.
Based on the novel by Jonathan Tropper, the film sees the Foxman clan reunite for their father's funeral as they each face personal crises.
Stars Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda and Corey Stoll infuse warmth and humour into their pained, prickly characters, who feel fully alive from page to screen.

Levy's light touch belies deep themes of grief, marriage and generational change. The clan dynamics feel genuine through his eyes.
Amusing flashbacks to the Foxman patriarch convey melancholy amid laughter. Fonda and Bateman, in particular, hit every one of their shots.
For all the shenanigans, the heart of At Home lies in the scenes of loss that force us to value family above all else. Levy understood the soul of this story.

A tremendously funny and touching film that only gets better with revisions. A modern comedy classic worth rediscovering.
The box office, however, told a different story, grossing $57 million against a budget of $19 million.
