Sonic the Hedgehog, pure fun for the whole family

Sonic the Hedgehog is, without a doubt, the funniest and most entertaining movie I've seen in quite some time.

As a video game fan since I was a kid, I was sceptical of a film based on the fastest blue mascot, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

Expertly directed by Jeff Fowler, it manages to perfectly capture the essence of the irreverent hedgehog Sonic.

And the chemistry between James Marsden as Sheriff Tom and the brilliant Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic is pure dynamite on screen.

With its fast-paced humour, fast-paced action sequences through the San Francisco countryside and constant twists and turns, Sonic the Hedgehog is infectiously entertaining from minute one, and Jim Carrey is simply delightful as the hilarious villain Dr. Robotnik.

But beyond the visual spectacle, the affection for the source material is appreciated, and the message about friendship and community is a poignant one.

Without a doubt, this is one of those films that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Sonic is pure fun for the whole family, a worthy adaptation that leaves us longing for more adventures.
