‘Samaritan’ is a film starring and produced by Sylvester Stallone, who ventures into the popular superhero genre that has dominated the film industry in recent years.
In this film, Stallone plays a hero who, although he has been forgotten, still has a lot to offer. From a technical point of view, Samaritan exceeds expectations, featuring impressive action sequences, with a spectacular climax that really captures the viewer's attention.
The visual effects are, for the most part, satisfying and not cringe-inducing, although it should be noted that some facial CGI moments could have been better crafted, something that has become commonplace in many productions today.
One of the highlights of the film is the hand-to-hand combat, where the effort to reflect the strength and brutality of Stallone's character is evident. Every appearance of the actor is imposing, and his presence is a fundamental pillar of the narrative.

As for the script, ‘Samaritan’ does not attempt to reinvent the genre, but instead presents a simple but effective story. Although it can be predictable at times, it has enough elements, such as endearing characters, an interesting plot twist and inspiring dialogue, to elevate it above other similar productions.
The film fulfils its aim to entertain, following the classic narrative of a troubled young man meeting a mentor who no longer has time for nonsense. Together, they face constant challenges that lead them to develop a meaningful relationship.
The young protagonist, Javon Walton, stands out for his naturalness and acting ability, avoiding falling into the stereotype of the repellent child that often appears in this type of film. From the very first moment, he succeeds in making the audience empathise and become attached to him, which is a great achievement for a young actor.

In addition, Pilou Asbæk's performance as the villain of the story adds depth to the narrative. His character has nuances that are uncommon in this type of production, making him a more interesting and complex antagonist. The cast as a whole elevates the level of the film, with solid performances that contribute to its overall appeal.
‘Samaritan is no masterpiece, but for fans of B-movies and superhero movies, it's an enjoyable film made with more heart than substance.
The story, though simple, manages to connect with the audience and deliver moments of action and excitement. Watching Stallone in action, playing a superhero, is always a pleasure, and Samaritan delivers that experience effectively.
‘Samaritan is a film that, while not looking to be groundbreaking, serves its purpose of entertaining and delivering a story that resonates with the audience.
