"Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes is a 1984 film directed by Hugh Hudson.

It is an adaptation of the famous Tarzan character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

The film tells the story of John Clayton, played by Christopher Lambert, who is rescued from the African jungle after the death of his parents.

He is raised by a tribe of apes and adopts the name Tarzan.

As he grows up, Tarzan is confronted with his human origins and the complexities of civilised society.

However, despite its intention to be an epic and emotionally deep adaptation, Greystoke fails to capture the essence of Tarzan's character.

The plot feels sluggish and Lambert's performance as Tarzan leaves much to be desired.

The film received mixed reviews upon its release, with some praising the cinematography and African landscapes, while others found it a disappointing adaptation.

It failed to stand out at the box office and did not make a lasting impact on popular culture.
