CineTV Contest: Frankenweenie
Algunas personas tienen conceptos distintos de los que puede ser un zombi y al mismo tiempo hay diferentes tipos de zombis en el cine o la literatura, pero el concepto general es que se trata de un ente humano o animal que ha sido resucitado de algunas manera, muchas películas han hecho ver a los zombis sólo desde un punto de vista peligroso y terrorífico para los seres vivos, pero hay una película que de cierto modo es diferente, aunque toma como referencia la premisa de la obra Frankenstein de Mary Shelley, se trata de Frankenweenie una película de Tim Burton del año 2012.
Some people have different concepts of what a zombie can be and at the same time there are different types of zombies in cinema or literature, but the general concept is that it is a human or animal entity that has been resurrected in some way, Many films have seen zombies only from a dangerous and terrifying point of view for living beings, but there is a film that is different in a certain way, although it takes as a reference the premise of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, it is about Frankenweenie, a 2012 Tim Burton film.
Estamos en época de Halloween y también del Día de los Muertos, según esta última tradición también las mascotas visitan el mundo de los vivos y por eso en México se le puede poner un altar a la mascota, esto es reflejo de lo que muchos de nosotros desearíamos, que nuestras mascotas fallecidas volvieran a visitarnos aunque sea una vez al año, para mi ese sentimiento es muy genuino, porque eso me conmueve mucho que el personaje de Viktor en al película, siendo un niño deprimido por el fallecimiento de su perro Spaky , trata de recuperar a su mascota usando electricidad, basándose en un experimento de ciencia que aprendió en al escuela, resultando exitoso su experimento tiene a su mascota ahora convertido en un perro zombi a su lado 🥹
We are in the time of Halloween and also the Day of the Dead, according to this last tradition, pets also visit the world of the living and that is why in Mexico you can put an altar to the pet, this is a reflection of what many of us We wish that our deceased pets would come back to visit us even once a year, for me that feeling is very genuine, because that moves me a lot that the character of Viktor in the film, being a child depressed by the death of his dog Spaky, He tries to recover his pet using electricity, based on a science experiment he learned in school, his experiment being successful he has his pet now turned into a zombie dog by his side 🥹
Por supuesto la película también tiene su conflicto, este no es el dilema moral de volver a la vida a un ser fallecido sino más bien el de que todos desearían hacer los mismo. Así que el problema viene cuando los compañeros de Viktor también quieren regresar a la vida a otros animales, pero esos experimentos no salen bien como el Sparky y los otros animales zombis ocasionan mucho problemas.
Of course the film also has its conflict, this is not the moral dilemma of bringing a deceased being back to life but rather that everyone would like to do the same. So the problem comes when Viktor's companions also want to bring other animals back to life, but those experiments don't go well as Sparky and the other zombie animals cause a lot of problems.
No quiero contar toda la historia por si no han visto la película, pero a mi particularmente me encanta porque la historia nace del problema humano de no poder aceptar la pérdida de un ser amado, asimismo estéticamente es una película muy hermosa hecha en Stop Motion en blanco y negro, tomando elementos de la literatura de terror clásico con un enfoque de parodia, es película que pudiera aparecer infantil, pero que para mi es toda una obra de arte.
I don't want to tell the whole story in case you haven't seen the film, but I particularly love it because the story is born from the human problem of not being able to accept the loss of a loved one, also aesthetically it is a very beautiful film made in Stop Motion in Black and white, taking elements from classic horror literature with a parody approach, it is a film that could appear childish, but for me it is a work of art.
