Title: Poor Things

This movie is a cross between The Island of Dr Moreau and Emmanuelle set in a fantasy world. It begins with a woman (Emma Stone) jumping off of a bridge. Dr. Baxter (Willem Dafoe) a disfigured scientist, finds the body, pregnant, and decides, as you do, to take the brain of the baby, implant it into the body of the woman and reanimate her. Bella is born. Chaos ensues. The movie is 2 hours and 21 minutes of mostly plodding dialog that picks up a bit of speed in the middle when Emma Stone's breasts take over all of the acting duties.

At least an hour of screen time involves Emma Stone's nipples as she has sex pretty much every waking moment in the last half of the film. Ramy Youssef plays a beta male scientist who Dr. Baxter hires to observe Bella. Of course he falls in love with her and soon they are betrothed. Mark Ruffalo enters as a con-man and womanizer who tricks Bella into running off with him to see the world. Bella pretty much destroys him with her constant need for sex and her improper actions and conversations with others. His anguish is pure comedy.

The movie progresses as Bella goes on her international quest to bang everything that moves and Dr. Baxter recounting the childhood torture that his father put him through in the name of science. Dr. Baxter's home is full of his experiments (Animals wandering around with the heads of other animals sewed onto them) and the entire situation is extremely surreal as other characters act as if all of this is perfectly normal. Of course, Bella ends up in a bordello so that we can see her breasts as she has sex with dozens of men in dozens of positions. She finally returns home as Dr. Baxter is dying, has a brief encounter with the husband of her body and ends up living happily ever after in Baxter's menagerie.

Fun: Emma Stone's breasts are quite lovely. The absurdity of the situation is the entertaining piece. Whether it's Baxter explaning his childhood tortures as scientific necessity or Bella's impolite actions in public settings. But overall, the movie is just fucking weird. The sets are amazing, the characters are engaging, but the plot is just bizzare. You spend most of the movie either staring at breasts or wondering what the hell you are watching.

Preachy: I don't see how. Mostly it's all about Bella's quest for sexual awakening.

I think this is one of the Oscars of this year.😎
The casting choices with Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, and Mark Ruffalo certainly bring a wide variety of talent to the screen. And the cinematography also plays an important role.

Oh oh, you don't mean it right? This is so true and it really gotta be. Funny enough I didn't watch the trailer ahead but the movie got me haha. I think another reason was that it's ben quite a while I saw something like this.

This year has been full of very good, and above all, controversial films. Poor Thing is one of the best. It has been a long time since films like this have been made.

avatar

This movie is a cross between The Island of Dr Moreau and Emmanuelle

This is enough for me to watch this movie. Thank you for sharing.

You will enjoy it more as a guy haha. And oh, I'm glad to have you on my comments, thanks Alot and I hope you enjoy it too

I'm going to see it because of the cast! Although the plot doesn't catch my attention at all, I'll give it a chance because of the people who work in the movie.

avatar

Oh that's a good reason though. I most times do go for movies due to the cast and something watch them out of boredom haha.

I don't know your preference though but I think you might enjoy it though. As for me, I spent the entire time wondering what I was doing haha.

I've been trying to find a way to watch this but as of yet it isn't available on streaming anywhere that I can find it. I don't often go to cinemas anymore so I'll guess I'll just have to wait. I like the concept though!

Yea I don't think it's on streaming yet. I love to go to the cinemas and be among the first set to see a movie haha. Not like there is anything special except that I love movies alot and yeah.

I'm not quite sure but let's assume it will be on streaming by February.
