A few days ago I posted about the Barbie movie. Since then I have learned some additional information by randomly clicking in and out of YouTube videos and taking in slices of details.
Apparently Barbie is a sequel to another movie coming out in theaters at the same time. I thought a sequel to a movie came months if not years after the first movie. I guess now they are "dropping" sequels into movie theaters like how Netflix drops a season of episodes in one fell swoop to binge watch.

If my understanding is correct the black and white of the first movie means that it takes place first in the timeline. Before the Barbie invasion of our universe in the sequel the first movie covers the insidious plot. The Barbies work to create a weapon of mass destruction which would unleash a pink mushroom cloud of death upon our world.

The Barbies' invasion plan has categorized the human race into two groups: male and female.
The key to the Barbie invasion taking place in the sequel is to synthesize the transuranic element barbium. By splitting the barbium atom a special kind of ionizing radiation is produced to sterilize the human male part of the population. Once the "patriarchy" has been dealt with the only ones left to subjugate are the human females. With zero population growth the Barbieland Empire will then annex our reality.
