First Impressions of Dandadan

I recently started watching Dandadan (ダンダダン), I've watched the first episode so far and I'm here to give my first impressions. Minor spoilers ahead.

The anime opens up with Momo Ayase kicking the shit out of someone, showing that this character is delinquent and doesn't take shit from anyone, not even her boyfriends.
We've seen this trope of the badass girl protag many times, but Momo is one of the coolest ones I've seen so far.

Then we get Takakura Ken, or the UFO/UAP guy. He's a total alien otaku and doesn't believe ghosts exist... Meanwhile Momo is a ghost otaku and doesn't believe in aliens.

So they both challenge each other to go to places where aliens and ghosts show up, with Ken going to a tunnel that's supposedly haunted by an old lady who steals your peepee, and Momo going to an abandoned building where UFOs supposedly show up.

Guess what? The tunnel is actually haunted! By Turbo Granny, the ghost that steals your peepee. Ken gets possessed by Turbo Granny and Momo gets abducted by some naughty aliens who want to have children with her... using a drill peepee.

This shit just gets more and more ridiculous and I love it.

Ken then shows up into the UFO through Momo's phone (???) meanwhile being possessed by Turbo Granny and with the help of Momo, they kick the shit out of the aliens.
Then Turbo Granny steals Ken's peepee, and that's basically the setup for the anime. They have to get Ken's thingy back.

At the end of the episode they're alone on a road after all the shit that went down and with the UFO exploding. Momo asks for Ken's name and he tells it to her, turns out she's in one-sided love with an actor called Takakura Ken, and when she learns about his name and thinks of all the things he did to help her, she apparently immediately falls in love.

That was the first episode pretty much.

This anime has the perfect mix of silliness, good animation, good humour and a story that somehow despite being so silly, keeps you hooked.

I'll definitely be watching more of this - I've fallen in love with this anime on the first episode and if it keeps up this pace it might just be one of the best to have come out in recent years.

IT'S AWESOME! I've been listening to this song non-stop on Youtube Music. It's so addicting.

I highly recommend giving the first episode a try, I don't know about the rest of the anime as I have yet to watch it all, but from my first impressions, this is just... great!
