Rocky And Rani.... Where Love Blossoms!

It is so inspiring that it has been acclaimed one of the best Bollywood movies of 2023, and being a lover of Alia Bhatt, I couldn't agree more..... Plant Love and it will blossom, far beyond your wildest dreams.

This movie Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani… yeah the title is a bit messy but don't let it fool you.😁 It comes highly recommended!

Plot Summary;

Rocky Randhawa(Ranveer Singh) is a flamboyant and a fun-loving Punjabi boy living in Delhi, from a wealthy but traditional family. Carefree Rocky's family business interests are managed by his domineering grandma, Dhanlakshmi Randhawa played by Jaya Bachchan.

While Rani Chatterjee(Alia Bhatt) is a headstrong and independent Bengali journalist from a progressive intellectual family in Kolkata. Her parents, played by Shabana Azmi and Tota Roy Chowdhury, are well-educated and liberal-minded.

By a twist in fate, Rocky's grandfather Kanwal (played by Dharmendra), reminisces about a long-lost love who is actually Rani's grandmother Jamini (Shabana Azmi). In Rocky and Rani's effort to reunite their grandparents, love begins to blossom between them, despite the differences in their personalities and backgrounds.

They discuss marriage but their major challenge was in their cultural differences. It had to be sorted out somehow before they could move up to the next level, in their relationship.

To further test their love for each other, they both decide that;

Rocky will live for three months with Rani's intellectual Bengali family and Rani will live for the same number of months, with Rocky's conservative Punjabi family.

My review;

Love actually can blossom, even between culturally different people, it's not easy though because watching this movie opened my eyes to certain facts;

Rocky was no match for Rani's intellectual family and was mocked for his lack of knowledge: Rani on the other hand was meant to be a submissive kind of wife and was resisted for her feminist ideals, especially by Rocky's conservative grandmother.

But somehow Love triumphed! Wonderful! So love can break societal norms!

I really must commend the director, Karan Johar, for the colourful sets, the lovely locations, good music and mind-blowing performance from the cast, the art designers, for everything they did in this film to put smiles on my face. Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are two incredibly talented actors no doubt and their chemistry is definitely undeniable, natural. I must mention that Alia slayed in her delicate and beautiful sarees.

If you are a believer of "Evergreen Love", then this is your own movie. I see it as 'more than just a love story', it is one with a difference, I was kept thoroughly engaged.
