Just three

I say "three" but if one wants to get technical there's more than three in this image; colours I mean.

I took this not too far from home a little while ago and thought, at the time, it wasn't a bad shot...just three basic colours in blocks. It's probably quite a shit photo in reality and I didn't really have a use for it until some enlightened and super-intelligent person came up with the idea for a community that welcomed shit photography.

So, my "not really three colours because there's some brown in the photo" shot has made its somewhat low-key debut here and there was much rejoicing no fanfare at all, not even a smidge of it. I get it, the photo is rather ignominious but it was a nice day out for me and looking at this photo brings that day back to mind rather vividly.

It's a canola field, the yellow flowers on the left, which is also known as rape seed...not that its been raped or is likely to rape anyone else though - just a rather unfortunate name which is probably why we call it canola in this country I suppose. On the right is...well, it's...a greenish sort of plant that looks a little like weeds but isn't weeds at all. You might have guessed by now that I have no clue what it is but what the hell, it doesn't really matter much. Lastly, that big blue thing across the top is called "the sky" but I think some of you may have guessed that already. I took this from the side of the road looking up the slight incline of the field. I was going to jump the fence but decided not to in case the farmer was around and blasted my ass with a shotgun as they are known to do from time to time.

When I'm out in the countryside, even when I'm on established roads, I'm always looking around me for nice scenery; it's sort of a one eye on the road and one eye roving the scenery around me sort of thing. Sometimes it's both eyes off the road and at other times it's both eyes on the road, but no matter where my eyes might be looking there's a road and there's scenery...and there's ...umm...my eyes. Does that make sense? I hope so, but if not I don't really care.

Ok, I guess what I'm trying to say is...there's a road, there's my eyes and there's scenery and, depending on the situation and circumstances in any given minute...ah fuck it, I can't be bothered explaining. If you don't get it then too bad.

Maybe just feast your own eyes on this fucken shit photo and be done with it.

Simple, pure, beauty of a shot. Not often one sees an actual deep blue sky like this.

avatar

Yeah, it's nice I think, the simplicity of the shot. Thanks for commenting.

Very beautiful nature environment, the beauty of nature is not comparable to anything above. I really like your photography. thank you

avatar

Thanks for commenting, it was a nice day out in the countryside.

Hi Galen, it's Saturday and on weekends I don't usually take the effort to understand anything. But I think I understand that where you are, you are able to find beauty. Maybe I didn't understand anything... It's Saturday. The photo of (maybe) three colors I like.

(Edited)

Sometimes understanding is overrated and one just needs to accept what they see or do simply as something that is rather than seek to understand it. 😊

avatar

As an exception, I have made an effort to understand 🤔 and I can say that I agree with what you say. Understanding is certainly overrated.

I hope Saturday is turning out to be a great day. Over here it's off to a great start.

The beautiful color of the sky.

In the city where I live, such a color of the sky can be seen a couple of times during the year.
Thank you for the "shit" photography (which I like a lot 🙂)

avatar

You're welcome, shit photos are always worth sharing.

avatar

I don't agree with the term shitphoto because every photo is taken with a reason. The quality may not be very good, but it captures a moment.

This quote from Karl Lagerfeld perfectly explains it.

"What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that's gone forever, impossible to reproduce."

As I read your post, there is really an idea behind the photo. And besides, I like the combination of colors too. I see why you took it.
Just like you, I also have eye for my environment and take pictures of interesting things.

avatar

The colours look good right? Different but a nice combination when put together.

avatar

Yes indeed! But I also like the composition. Nice diagonal lines.

avatar

While one's attention is on the road ahead, one's eyes look in all directions to capture those beautiful landscapes of life. I love to understand and analyse!

Certainly there are 4 colours plus their nuances, the contrast is perfect and the symbolism too.

There are two primaries, their secondary and a tertiary not formed by them.

The photographs refer to a moment, it is the moment that is behind them and it matters.

I hope you had a great Saturday!

avatar

I don't know what any of this means.

avatar

Yellow and blue are primary colours and when mixed together they form green. Green is a secondary colour. Brown is a tertiary colour, formed by mixing a primary with a secondary.

avatar

So, yellow is green when it's with blue and blue is blue when it's blue but not when it's yellow. Yellow is yellow unless it's blue or when it's green which is actually blue and yellow and yellow and green isn't blue. Brown is not blue and brown and green doesn't make blue but blue and brown isn't yellow or green or anything other than brown unless it's a different sort of brown and then it's that brown and not the other brown.

Ah ok, I get it now.

Oil is produced from canola, the photo is amazing. Yellow and green fields and blue sky. beautiful

avatar

Yes, it is, the oil thing. That's why it's farmed.

avatar

I like the colour contrast. Also on the left side field, you can think of a gradient from yellow to green. It is similar in the sky, gradually moving from clear blue at the bottom to darker on the top.

I like it

avatar

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I probably shouldn't have been at the spot where I took this, private land and all, but I was fast and got out of there quickly.

avatar

The colors reached right off the page and slapped me right in the face. Beautiful, rich colors of nature, just...wow! Ever notice the difference in your breathing when you look at a beautiful nature photograph and say, an inner city photo? lol, it's odd maybe, but I take in big swigs of air when looking at the nature pic, and teeny tiny sips of air when faced with inner city pics.

I prefer being passenger over driving for the reasons you stated, I am always looking at the passing scenery lol. I do drive, but not as happy as riding 😊

Have a great weekend!

avatar

I think those who feel an affinity with nature have a reaction like this, like the image brings the feeling of such places to mind and that effects how the mind reacts. Maybe huh?

As for riding not driving...every driver needs someone riding shotgun.

avatar

Well, this is not shit photography at all :)

avatar

Thanks mate, I try to take shots as best I can. It helps to have nice scenery like this too.

avatar

There's just something about blues and greens that get me every time.

avatar

Yep, it's a nice combination. Thanks nature.

avatar

Indeed, it's like something or somebody knew what they were doing!

avatar

A shitty picture, if that's what you want to hear. Lol. I like it though...I'll probably have my photographic appreciation pretty stunted.

avatar

Yeah, it's terrible but perfectly suited to a community that welcomes terrible photos.
