El día de hoy les compartiré mi reseña de una de las películas más memorables en el género del romance en el cine, desde sus grandes actores protagonistas como por su trama tan dulce y romántica. Hoy hablaré de Pretty Woman, una película que ha pasado de generación en generación y que por más años que pasen se sigue manteniendo como una bella película con una historia atrapante y romántica. Hablemos un poco sobre la trama, la película de los 90s trata sobre una chica llamada Vivian quien trabaja como prostituta y que en una noche decide acompañar a un hombre adinerado llamado Edward quien es un empresario multimillonario, éste queda cautivado por la personalidad vulgar y divertida de Vivian y decide proponerle un trato: pasar la semana con el para acompañarlo a diversos eventos ejecutivos y por ello el le pagaría tres mil dólares, Vivian acepta pero lo que no sabe es que esa noche se convertiría en la noche en la que conoció al hombre del cual se enamoraría.
La película estadounidense de género comedia y romance contó con una extensa lista de actrices y actores para ser seleccionados como protagonistas pero al final terminaron escogiendo a las dos celebridades que recordamos muy bien en este papel los cuales son Julia Roberts en el papel protagónico de Vivian Ward y a Richard Gere en el papel de Edward Lewis, de igual forma también contamos con las actuaciones de Ralph Bellamy, Jason Alexander, Héctor Elizondo y Laura San Giacomo. Contamos con un reparto legendario el cual podemos usar de referencia por su destacada participación en esta película.

A legendary movie of the Rom-Com genre that is unforgettable no matter how many years go by, I had not wanted to see this movie because I knew I would love it and that from the moment I saw it I would be completely obsessed with it and so it was. At first I had only a little information about the plot but when I started watching it I was completely caught, it is hilarious and super romantic and at the same time it talks about strong topics such as the world of prostitution and all that it entails, I found the cast wonderful and charming as I could really feel the chemistry between the main characters and that made the story and the love feel very realistic. From the minute both protagonists meet there is this aura of attraction in both of them but at the same time it is not just attraction but curiosity, she is curious about him and his lifestyle and he is curious about her and her way of being as he had never met any woman like her, they both immediately felt that chemistry and decided to move forward even though it then became harder to pretend that it was just another transaction, both for him and for her.
The best thing about this film is the aesthetics and although nowadays it would be called aesthetics it was a reality in the 90s, with those alleys full of lights and women around trying to earn some money to survive, although the film tries not to delve into that topic we can see scenes where characters like Vivian and her friend Kit talk about people in the business and how there was this harassment of pimps to maintain control of women and also about the lives of other workers where there was from drug abuse to violence, There were few scenes where they talk about it but they are incredibly important not to cloud our view with what begins to happen in Vivian's life after meeting Edward, they remind us how terrible that world is and how not everyone has the opportunity to get out of it either because of work difficulties or because they can not leave that world.
Una película legendaria del género Rom-Com que es inolvidable pasen los años que pasen, no había querido ver esta película porque sabía que la amaría y que desde el momento que la viera estaría completamente obsesionada con ella y así fue. Al principio tenía solo una pequeña información sobre la trama pero al empezar a verla me atrapó completamente, es divertidísima y súper romántica y a su vez habla sobre temas fuertes como es el mundo de la prostitución y todo lo que esto conlleva, el reparto me pareció maravilloso y encantador ya que realmente podía sentir la química entre los protagonistas y eso hizo que la historia y el amor se sintiera muy realista. Desde el minuto en el que ambos protagonistas se conocen existe está aura en ambos de atracción pero a la vez no es solo atracción sino curiosidad, ella siente curiosidad por el y por su estilo de vida y el tiene curiosidad de ella y de su forma de ser ya que no había conocido a ninguna mujer como ella, ambos inmediatamente sintieron esa química y decidieron seguir adelante a pesar de que luego se hiciera más difícil el pretender que aquello era solo una transacción más, tanto para el como para ella.
Lo mejor de esta película es la estética y aunque actualmente se le llamaría estética fue una realidad en los 90s, con aquellos callejones llenos de luces y mujeres alrededor tratando de ganarse algo de dinero para sobrevivir, aunque la película intenta no profundizar sobre ese tema podemos ver escenas en donde personajes como Vivian y su amiga Kit hablan sobre personas del negocio y como existía éste acoso de los proxenetas por mantener el control de las mujeres y también sobre la vida de otras trabajadoras en donde existía desde el abuso de drogas hasta violencia, fueron pocas las escenas en donde hablan sobre ello pero son increíblemente importantes para no nublar nuestra vista con lo que empieza a ocurrir en la vida de Vivian después de conocer a Edward, nos recuerdan lo terrible que es aquel mundo y como no todas tienen la oportunidad de salir de el ya sea por dificultades laborales o por no poder dejar ese mundo.
The plot is fantastic, literally, it shows us the drastic way in which the protagonist's life changes and where she begins to experience things she had never imagined and that is where she begins to change a certain part of herself, both physically and her personality, in order to fit in with the society that Edward presents to her. It is a movie that although it seems to be just a love story and nothing more shows us different realities and in it we can see how there is a real character development because at first it seems that both are just two characters without much depth, a rich guy and a crazy girl but as we watch the movie we realize that both have their problems and difficulties, such as Vivian's life, her dreams and hopes and Edward's past and his fear of commitment and these things make them complement each other and then they can heal all their fears and insecurities together.
It's a movie that I absolutely loved, somehow it made me think of it as a modern Cinderella adapted to a real world, the music is completely perfect with the scenes and what a great soundtrack! With iconic songs that we all remember and that make the movie even more iconic.
La trama es fantástica, literalmente, nos muestra la forma tan drástica en la que cambio de vida la protagonista y en donde ella comienza a experimentar cosas que nunca había imaginado y ahí es donde comienza en parte a cambiar cierta parte de ella, tanto física como de su personalidad, para poder encajar con la sociedad que le presenta Edward. Es una película que aunque parece que fuera solo una historia de amor y nada más nos muestra diferentes realidades y en ella podemos ver como hay un verdadero desarrollo de personajes ya que al principio parece que ambos solo son dos personajes sin mucha profundidad, un tipo rico y una chica alocada pero a medida que vamos viendo la película nos damos cuenta de que ambos tienen sus problemas y sus dificultades, como lo son la vida de Vivian, sus sueños y esperanzas y el pasado de Edward y su miedo al compromiso y estás cosas hace que se complementen y luego puedan sanar todos sus miedos e inseguridades juntos.
Es una película que amé por completo, de alguna forma me hizo pensar en ella como en una Cenicienta pero moderna adaptada a un mundo real, la música se completamente perfectamente con las escenas y que buen soundtrack! Con canciones icónicas que todos recordamos y que hacen que la película sea aún más icónica.
It is a movie that I would (and will) watch a thousand times because it has so many aspects that I love, the music, the scenery and costumes, the chemistry between the main characters, the opera scene and that beautiful ending. Doing some research on this movie I found that it was going to have an alternative ending a little darker and sadder but when it was distributed by Disney it was changed to the ending we all know and I'm glad they didn't put that ending because it would have been completely devastated even though it was perhaps a little more realistic but still I wouldn't change for anything in the world the ending it has. It's a romantic story that not only talks about romance but also about the value of things that can't be bought, companionship, love and the simple things in life, where two protagonists with completely different lives come together and learn to love and heal. With excellent performances, an exceptional soundtrack and a super romantic and beautiful story this movie has become my comfort movie for any occasion.
Es una película que sin duda vería (y veré) mil veces ya que tiene tantos aspectos que amo, la música, la escenografía y el vestuario, la química entre los protagonistas, la escena de la opera y ese final tan hermoso. Haciendo un poco de investigación sobre esta película di con que ésta iba a tener un final alternativo un poco más oscuro y triste pero que al ser distribuida por Disney éste fue cambiado al final que todos conocemos y me alegro que no colocaran ese final ya que hubiese quedado completamente devastada a pesar de que quizás era un poco más realista pero aún así no cambiaría por nada en el mundo el final que tiene. Es una historia romántica que no solo habla sobre el romance sino que habla sobre el valor de las cosas que no se compran, de la compañía, del amor y de las cosas simples de la vida, en donde dos protagonistas con vidas completamente diferentes se unen aprenden a amar y a sanar. Con actuaciones excelentes, una banda sonora excepcional y una historia súper romántica y bella está película se ha convertido en mi película de confort para cualquier ocasión.
Vivian: "When I was a little girl, my mama used to lock me in the attic when I was bad, which was pretty often. And I would- I would pretend I was a princess… trapped in a tower by a wicked queen. And then suddenly this knight… on a white horse with these colors flying would come charging up and draw his sword. And I would wave. And he would climb up the tower and rescue me."
Edward Lewis: “So what happens after he climbs up and rescues her?”
Vivian: “She rescues him right back."
