The Creator: Visually very good, but simple in terms of plot / Visualmente muy buena, pero simple en terminos de trama [ENG-ESP]

This is the first movie I've seen this year, I knew absolutely nothing about the plot until I started watching it, as I've been following my rule of not watching trailers about movies or trailers that catch my attention and this movie was one of them, however, I knew absolutely nothing about this movie until the first few days it was digital. I had only read a little bit about it on Twitter/X but in that post I had read very casually they didn't mention anything about its plot, they only talked about how good a movie it is, so when I saw a poster about this movie it caught my attention and really, although I don't think it's a spectacular movie, since it has a pretty simple plot and even quite predictable, it's a decent story that manages to entertain.

The Creator is a story that tries to show us a future where humanity and AI were coexisting for many years, robots which have achieved great contributions to humanity, from one day to another after a "mistake" which makes an entire city is destroyed by a bomb, blame the AI of this fact, so now humanity now seeks to destroy them. The only ones who do not want to leave the AI aside is the Chinese government (I think it was the Chinese government, I really do not remember, but let's say yes), however, North America wants to destroy the AI completely, that's why they have created a super powerful weapon that cost billions of dollars to locate and thus destroy them, as always America starting unnecessary wars. In addition, the U.S. government seeks to create one of the top creators of the AI, which is presumed to have created a weapon focused on the destruction of humans, although it is not at all surprising that the weapon is not intended for that purpose and only seeks to destroy the billion dollar weapon created by the U.S. government.

Quickly the film focuses on Joshua, who is the protagonist of this story, he is infiltrating the AI side in order to find Nirmata, the scientist who is in charge of the advances of the AI and the weapon of "destruction" of humanity. Joshua has managed to create a relationship with Nirmata's daughter, to the point that they are going to have a daughter and although his job was the infiltration in order to track down Nirmata, Joshua has really fallen in love with Maya (Nirmata's daughter); but one night they are attacked by the U.S. army, thus throwing back the facade of our protagonist, being discovered, so Maya runs away from him and is attacked by NOMAD, the billionaire weapon created by the United States. Believing that Maya is dead, Joshua goes into a deep depression, after several years of that event, Joshua is working in the city that was destroyed several years ago by the atomic bomb that was supposedly used by the AI and after being contacted again by the U.S. military, showing him a "proof" where Maya is seen alive, Joshua seeks a way to find her and thus re-enlists in a mission.

The Creator is not a film whose plot is very original, in fact, during the whole movie I had in mind what was going to happen, its plot that goes from how the AI is being hunted for being "dangerous" to humanity, is something that has been seen in other media, such as Blade Runner, plus the fact that said weapon created by Nirmata is a "girl" with the power to control other IAS is something that from the first moment they showed that said "weapon", which Joshua baptized as Alphie, he knew that she will have that power, so it is not surprising at all. In addition we also have the dynamic of "father and daughter", in which we have the character who represents the "father" of the character, which in the beginning is rooted to have some contact to close relationship with the character of the "daughter", so that then in the end he sacrifices himself for the sake of his "daughter" is something also very seen, as in the game of The Last Of Us (also in the series, by the way), therefore, that final sacrifice of Joshua is something that I saw coming almost from the beginning of this film. But it is still an entertaining movie, a science fiction movie that perhaps was a little half-hearted in its plot, but I have to admit that it managed to entertain me. John David Washington plays Joshua, protagonist of this story and this is the second film I have seen of this actor and personally, both in Tenet and in The Creator his performance did not seem good to me, I do not think he is an actor who manages to properly convey the emotions that the character wants to show, but instead the character of the girl, Alphie, seemed to me the best of this film and I was even able to empathize with her.

The best of The Creator is undoubtedly its setting, visual effects and music. Although this film is obviously set in the future, it still maintains many things that could be considered old, it is not a cyberpunk setting as seen in Blade Runner, but there are still certain elements that just by seeing them we know that we are facing a future not so far away, but far enough so that the AI is so advanced that it can be practically replicas of a person and even have consciousness. The music is another spectacular aspect and when I listened to it I had the intuition that the soundtrack was similar to Hans Zimmer, something that after I finished watching it I could confirm and yes, it is quite good soundtrack. With all this I do not want to say that The Creator is a bad movie, it is entertaining, but it is not something innovative at all in terms of plot and characters, but it is worth seeing, especially in a good theater, because visually it is very good.

Esta es la primera película que veo de este año, no sabía absolutamente nada de la trama hasta que la empecé a ver, ya que he estado siguiendo mi regla de no ver trailers sobre películas o trailers que me llamen la atención y esta película fue una de ellas, sin embargo, no supe absolutamente nada de esta película hasta los primeros días que estuvo de manera digital. Tan solo había leído un poco de ella en Twitter/X pero en ese post que había leído muy casualmente no mencionaban nada sobre su trama, tan solo hablaban sobre lo buena película que es, por lo que al ver un poster sobre esta película me llamo la atención y realmente, aunque no creo que sea una película espectacular, ya que posee una trama bastante simple e incluso bastante predecible, es una historia decente que logra entretener.

The Creator es una historia que nos trata de mostrar un futuro donde la humanidad y la IA estuvieron conviviendo durante muchos años, los robots los cuales han logrado grandes aportes a la humanidad, de un día para otro luego de un “error” el cual hace que toda una ciudad sea destruida por una bomba, culpan a la IA de este hecho, por lo tanto ahora la humanidad busca destruirlos. Los únicos que no quieren dejar la IA a un lado es el gobierno chino (creo que era el gobierno chino, realmente no recuerdo, pero digamos que sí), sin embargo, Norte América quiere destruir a la IA por completo, es por eso que han creado un arma súper poderosa que costó billones de dólares para localizar y así destruirlos, como siempre Estados Unidos iniciando guerras innecesarias. Ademas, el gobierno de Estados Unidos buscan crear a uno de los máximos creadores de la IA, el cual se presume que ha creado un arma enfocada en la destrucción de los humanos, aunque para nada es sorprendente que dicha arma no tiene como fin ese propósito y tan solo busca destruir esa arma billonaria creada por el Gobierno de Estados Unidos.

Rápidamente la película se centra en Joshua, el cual es el protagonista de esta historia, él se encuentra infiltrado en el bando de la IA con el fin de encontrar a Nirmata, el científico que está a cargo de los avances de la IA y del arma de “destrucción” de la humanidad. Joshua a logrado crear una relación con la hija de Nirmata, a tal punto que van a tener una hija y aunque su trabajo era la infiltración para así dar rastro con Nirmata, Joshua realmente se ha enamorado de Maya (hija de Nirmata); pero una noche son atacados por el ejército de Estados Unidos, de esta forma echando para atrás la fachada de nuestro protagonista, siendo descubierto, por lo que Maya huye de él y es atacada por NOMAD, el arma billonaria creada por Estados Unidos. Creyendo que Maya ha muerto, Joshua entra en una profunda depresión, luego de varios años de ese acontecimiento, Joshua se encuentra trabajando en la ciudad que fue destruida hace varios años atrás por la bomba atómica que supuestamente fue utilizada por la IA y luego de ser contactado nuevamente por el ejército de Estados Unidos, mostrándole una “prueba” donde se ve a Maya con vida, Joshua busca la manera de poder encontrarla y de esta forma se enlista nuevamente en una misión.

The Creator no es una película cuya trama sea muy original, de hecho, durante toda la película tenía en mente lo que iba a suceder, su trama que va desde como la IA está siendo cazada por ser “peligrosa” para la humanidad, es algo que se ha visto en otros medios, como Blade Runner, además de que dicha arma creada por Nirmata sea una “niña” con el poder de controlar a otras IAS es algo que desde el primer momento en el que mostraron que dicha “arma”, la cual Joshua bautizo como Alphie, sabía que tendrá ese poder, por lo que no es nada sorprendente. Además también tenemos la dinámica de “padre e hija”, en la cual tenemos al personaje que representa al “padre” del personaje, el cual en un inicio está arraigado a tener algún contacto a relación cercana con el personaje de la “hija”, para que luego al final se sacrifique por el bien de su “hija” es algo también muy visto, como en el juego de The Last Of Us (también en la serie, por cierto), por lo tanto, ese sacrificio final de Joshua es algo que lo veía venir casi desde el inicio de esta película. Pero aun así es una película entretenida, una película de ciencia ficción que quizás se quedó un poco a medias en su trama, pero tengo que admitir que logro entretenerme. John David Washington interpreta a Joshua, protagonista de esta historia y esta es la segunda película que he visto de este actor y personalmente, tanto en Tenet como en The Creator su actuación no me ha parecido buena, no creo que sea un actor que logre transmitir correctamente las emociones que quiere mostrar el personaje, pero en cambio el personaje de la niña, Alphie, me pareció lo mejor de esta película y hasta fui capaz de sentir empatía por ella.

Lo mejor de The Creator en sin dudas su ambientación, efectos de visuales y música. Ya que esta película, aunque evidentemente está ambientada en un futuro, aún mantiene muchas cosas que se podrían considerar viejas, no es una ambientación a lo cyberpunk como lo visto en Blade Runner, pero aún hay ciertos elementos que con solo verlos sabemos que estamos ante un futuro no tan lejano, pero si lo suficientemente alejado como para que la IA esté tan avanzada que pueda ser prácticamente réplicas de una persona y hasta llegar a tener conciencia. La música es otro aspecto espectacular y al escucharla tuve la intuición de que la banda sonora era parecida a Hans Zimmer, algo que luego de terminar de verla pude confirmar y si, es bastante buena su banda sonora. Con todo esto no quiero decir que The Creator sea una mala película, es entretenida, pero no es algo innove para nada en términos de trama y personajes, pero si vale la pena ver, especialmente en un buen cine, ya que visualmente es muy buena.
