En 1937 china estaba bien pero bien lejos de ser una potencia mundial, entre las continuas guerras civiles que habían acontecido años atrás y el creciente expansionismo de su principal vecino y rival, ocurrió lo inevitable, la guerra en Asia, para este momento, aunque no lo crean, nadie se esperaba que ocurriera una guerra mundial mucho menos la comunidad internacional, o mejor mejor dicho, tampoco es que le importaba mucho en que manos iban a quedar los territorios chinos, siempre y cuando no se atrevieran a cruzar las zonas especiales dedicadas a la actividad internacional, para entender el porque de estas zonas, hay que irse un poco más atrás en el tiempo, pero para no hacerlo tan enrevesado, digamos que en estas zonas eran en esencia una embajada gigante, razón por la que en Japón, no podían atreverse a tomar estas tierras también, o mis panas de las Katanas se las verían muy feas muy temprano en plano internacional, cosa que nos lleva al mencionado Almacen, Sihang, ultimo reducto de las tropas Chinas.

La película se centra precisamente en un batallón o regimiento que se ubica en esta zona, que en breve entabla combate con algunas patrullas del ejercito japones, aunque pronto vemos, que este regimiento no ha recibido, ni de lejos, algún tipo de entrenamiento, cosa que termina en una masacre y algunos soldados huyendo de sus atacantes, pero esto lejos de ser una bendición, es en verdad, una condena, pues todos aquellos que se rehúsan a morir en batalla, son considerados como desertores, y de ser capturados por aliadas, seran en el peor de los casos ejecutados, o tomados como mano de obra esclava para hacer las labores más peligrosas del ejercito, este ultimo sera el caso de algunos de nuestros protagonistas en la pantalla, uniéndose contra su voluntad, a la defensa del Almacén de Sihang.

Este almacén, se sitúa justamente, en el borde que separa la zona con exclusividad internacional, donde conviven personas de todas las nacionalidad y que muestran despreocupadas por los que les pueda pueda pasar, ya que saben que el los japonenses no se atreverán a atacar, desde la perspectiva de los soldados, este lugar, se ve como el paraíso, el lugar donde esta la salvación, la seguridad, la supervivencia, no obstante, para ellos, esta estrictamente prohibido el paso, cosa que es una de las razones por las que tampoco los japoneses pueden pasar, únicamente los civiles son los que están permitidos en esta zona y por se ven tantos refugiados cada vez que se enfoca el lugar, mientras que del otro lado del almacén, el ejercito del sol naciente camino sobre las ruinas de la ciudad, buscando asaltar el ultimo edificio en pie del lugar, uno puede pensar que con estas cartas, a los defensores chinos a penas les quedarían unas horas de vida, pero el ingenio, y más que nada, el valor y el sacrifico que demostraran por defender lo ultimo que queda, sera una de las fuentes de inspiración que irán poco a poco cohesionando la unidad, al mismo ritmo que irán coleccionando, bajas y heridos.

Para sorpresa de nadie, así como soy un obsesionado con Battlefield 1, mi juego favorito, también soy un obsesionado con los eventos de la guerra, y si hay algo en lo que siempre he pensado que se menosprecia o tiene la atención que se merece, es en las historias que pueden venir de Asia, y en particular, de la segunda guerra mundial, tampoco le voy a decir que esta es la primera película que se hace sobre este tema, porque seria un muy vil mentira, pero si es cierto que en el cine, siempre se han centrado mucho más en el teatro de operaciones de Occidente, y mucho menos, en lo que sucedía en el en el continente asiático, y me refiero a las guerra contra bandos que no incluyan ni americanos, ni británicos, o por lo menos, que no los involucraran ganando siempre todas las batallas, aunque la industria del cine es como es, me la alegra comunicarles, que este film, es diferente, muy diferente.

Lo que para mi hace diferente a esta película, es que no es la misma historia de como Americanos o británicos llegan a un sitio, liberan el lugar y ganan con algunas perdidas en el contador, en esta historia, los japoneses ya poseen la ciudad entera, ya tienen prácticamente a todo el ejercito chino en huida, pero unos heroicos obstinados, se niegan a ceder la ciudad, que aunque esto tenga sus motivos políticos, como también menciona la película, se deja en evidencia, que la resistencia la ocupación es latente, es feroz y no va cesar mientras queden personas que mueran por impedir que tomen su tierra, una cosa es decirlo, pero honestamente, para entender este punto, que suena genérico a mas no poder, se expresa mejor con las escenas que resguarda la película, tocándote un poco la fibra sensible por tanto esfuerzo.

La película me gusto bastante, se siente diferente a las historias relacionadas con las guerras mundiales y se nota un gran esfuerzo por hacer un trabajo que sea memorable y a la altura de las mejores obras del cine bélico, tiene varias escenas que te pueden quedar grabadas por lo épicas y significativas que son, y a su vez, tienen varios detalles que un aficionado a estos conflictos sabrá reconocer, como por ejemplo, el detalle de orinar sobre algún pañuelo para evitar respirar bombas de gas, o la utilización de armas que vienen de la primera guerra mundial, en fin, creo que es una película bastante recomendable de ver, no la mejor que he visto, pero si con un contexto diferente, descorazonadora, pero heroica, evoca valentía a quien la mira, y mucho respeto por los sacrificios de aquellos que dieron su vida por la supervivencia de otros, aprobado por Franzz.
