La primera película de mi lista es Duelo de Titanes, un filme que vi recientemente y la verdad es que me gustó. La película es del 2000, dirigida por Boaz Yakin, mientras que el guion estuvo a cargo de Gregory Allen Howard. La trama de esta producción nos cuenta principalmente la historia donde en Virginia en los años 1971 se trató de iniciar lo que es integración racial, donde los blancos y personas de color estudiaran en la misma escuela, caso que no ocurría para esa época. Lo mismo pasó con el fútbol americano, siendo el deporte más seguido del estado. Ciertamente el proceso no fue fácil, la película nos muestra todo lo que debieron vivir tanto los jóvenes, como las familias de la localidad se encontraba la escuela secundaria de T.C. Williams High School. Allí es donde entra el entrenador afroamericano Herman Boone, quien sustituye al entrenador Bill Yoast en el equipo, ya que en la época ningún dirigente era de color negro y el distrito quería cambiar eso.

El entrenador Boone fue quien busco la forma de que todo funcionará, tratar de que todos se la llevarán bien, porque al principio todo era un caos, mucha pelea entre los jóvenes y la familia que no estaban de acuerdo con la inclusión, con la integración de negros y blancos dentro de una misma escuela. Herman Boone les enseño a todos la importante de luchar con la persona que esta al lado, sin importar el color de su piel. Obviamente la historia esta centrada en el hecho de la eliminación del racismo en el mundo, sobre todo en la época, aunque sabemos que esto sigue existiendo por esta época, aunque en menos medida que el pasado, y todo gracias a esta clase de personas.

Personally, I am a big sports fan and therefore I like to watch movies of this genre. But I also like films of the drama genre, where we are told a story based on real events. The main reason for this is that we find productions that are intended to leave a message to the public, where always the self-improvement is what stands out in these films, people never give up, always follow their convictions and way of thinking. I mention this because today I will share with you the Top 3 of my favorite movies of the drama and sports genre. Forming this list was quite complicated since there are many movies that could be, but mainly I base it on the story, because I really think that both productions have many things to highlight, good performances, an excellent report, among other aspects. This list is in no specific order.


Remember the Titans (2000)


The first movie on my list is Duel of the Titans, a film I saw recently and I really liked it. The film is from 2000, directed by Boaz Yakin, while the script was written by Gregory Allen Howard. The plot of this production tells us mainly the story where in Virginia in the years 1971 tried to start what is racial integration, where whites and people of color studied in the same school, a case that did not occur at that time. The same thing happened with American soccer, being the most followed sport in the state. Certainly the process was not easy, the film shows us everything that both the young people and the families of the local T.C. Williams High School had to live through. That is where the African-American coach Herman Boone enters, who replaces coach Bill Yoast in the team, since at the time no coach was black and the district wanted to change that.


Coach Boone was the one who looked for a way to make everything work, to try to get everyone to get along, because at the beginning everything was chaos, a lot of fighting between the young people and the family who did not agree with the inclusion, with the integration of blacks and whites in the same school. Herman Boone taught them all the importance of fighting with the person next to them, regardless of the color of their skin. Obviously the story is centered on the fact of the elimination of racism in the world, especially at the time, although we know that it still exists at this time, although to a lesser extent than in the past, and all thanks to this kind of people.


The movie had a great cast, I especially liked the participation of Denzel Washington, who gave life to Herman Boone, simply a wonderful job of this actor, connect a lot with his character and that is always the most important thing. Will Patton who gave life to the experienced trainee Bill Yoast, also did an excellent job, as well as the rest of the cast. This was an excellent movie, a classic of the early 2000's where it was really enjoyable to watch the movies, to follow their stories, at least when compared to today's movies. I also really liked the soundtrack, the music was according to the moment and made me empathize with the scenes I was watching. A wonderful movie worth watching, it shows us the reality of racism in the United States in the past, but we also know that there are good people in the world and this was demonstrated with the final actions of each of the characters shown in this film.

La siguiente película de mi lista es Levantándose de nuevo, que también se conoce como Un equipo legendario. Esta película es del año 2014, dirigida por Thomas Carter y nos cuenta como el equipo Spartans Concord de fútbol americano de California, dirigido por el entrenador Bob Ladouceur, quien llevó a ese equipo a 151 victorias consecutivas, varias años de éxitos con títulos estatales entre 1992 y 2003, por lo cual la localidad era muy fanático este deporte y más que estaban orgulloso por su equipo. Ciertamente es una gran historia ya que este equipo de preparatoria tenía un excelente programa que no solo se destinaba a sacar deportistas que destacaran, sino que además tuvieran valores y que salieron con un propósito para ayudar a la comunidad.

Pero todo cambió cuando el equipo fue derrotada por primera vez luego de mucho tiempo, donde muchos de los jugadores y la comunidad se frustraron y allí es donde entra Brod quien le quería enseñar a todo el equipo y la localidad que lo importante no siempre es ganar, también son importantes otras cosas, como la hermandad. Ladouceur se mostraba muy decepcionado, ya que sentía que lo que había hecho durante todo los años tal vez no fue lo que él creyó, pero al final de todo se mostró muy satisfecho, tanto así que cuando salió el filme aún seguía dirigiendo al equipo. Una película que vale la pena ver, ya que nos muestra que nada es para siempre, las derrotas pueden llegar en cualquier momento, lo importante es superar el momento y salir adelante.

Si el cast de la anterior película fue bueno, pues este también lo fue, un filme con una buena historia y que cada uno del reparto supo transmitir, incluso la trama por momentos nos dio hechos que nunca esperábamos, pero allí demuestra la calidad de la película, siendo una de las mejores la época. Algo que si le criticaría es el hecho de las partidos, algunas escenas fueron mostrada como un documental que se le añadieron partes grabadas, pero en general esto no me disgustó y aun así puede disfrutar mucho de la historia que nos estaban cantando. Realmente esto es lo que me gusta de las películas basadas en historias reales, el mensaje que nos deja a los espectadores, el nunca rendirse y seguir el trabajo duro, que el momento pasar. Algo que me encantó fue la banda sonora, sobre todo en los momentos emotivos que están a la orden del día en esta producción, muchas palabras emotivas que sin lugar a dudas nos llega a lo más profundo.

When the Game Stands Tall


The next movie on my list is Rising Again, which is also known as A Legendary Team. This movie is from 2014, directed by Thomas Carter and tells the story of the California Spartans Concord soccer team, led by coach Bob Ladouceur, who led that team to 151 consecutive wins, several years of success with state titles between 1992 and 2003, which is why the locals were so fanatical about the sport and more than proud of their team. It is certainly a great story as this high school team had an excellent program that not only aimed to bring out athletes who excelled, but who also had values and who went out with a purpose to help the community.


But everything changed when the team was defeated for the first time in a long time, where many of the players and the community became frustrated and that is where Brod came in, who wanted to teach the whole team and the town that winning is not always important, other things are also important, such as brotherhood. Ladouceur was very disappointed, as he felt that what he had done over the years may not have been what he thought it was, but at the end of the day he was very satisfied, so much so that when the film came out he was still directing the team. A film worth watching, as it shows us that nothing is forever, defeats can come at any time, the important thing is to overcome the moment and move forward.


If the cast of the previous film was good, this was also good, a film with a good story and that each of the cast knew how to transmit, even the plot at times gave us facts that we never expected, but there shows the quality of the film, being one of the best of the time. Something that I would criticize is the fact of the parties, some scenes were shown as a documentary that were added recorded parts, but in general this did not displease me and still can enjoy much of the story that we were singing. Really this is what I like about movies based on true stories, the message it leaves us viewers with, to never give up and keep up the hard work, let the moment pass. Something I loved was the soundtrack, especially in the emotional moments that are the order of the day in this production, many emotional words that undoubtedly touches us deeply.

Somos Marshall

Finalmente tenemos a la película Somos Marshall, que también se conoce como Equipo Marshall. Esta película es del año 2006 dirigida por McG y la trama nos cuenta el suceso fatal que vivió una ciudad del oeste de Virginia de los Estados Unidos, donde todo un equipo de fútbol americano de la Universidad de Marshall murió en un accidente aéreo, donde además murieron otras personas como entrenadores, directivos y familiares de los jugadores. Realmente fue una tragedia que marcó la vida de la ciudad y que sin lugar es una historia basada en hechos reales que si eres amantes de las películas de drama y deportes, no te las puedes perder.

Allí es donde entra el entrenador Jack Lengyel, quien es interpretado por Matthew McConaughey, quien debía levantar la moral de los fanáticos del equipo Mashall, pero sobre todo de toda la ciudad. Jack prácticamente debió comenzar desde cero, reclutar jugadores novatos que nunca había jugado fútbol americano y enseñarlos antes de que empezará la temporada. Jack practically had to start from scratch, recruiting rookie players who had never played soccer before and teaching them before the season started. This was a challenge for the coach and the entire team, they had to overcome many obstacles along the way, but thanks to the will of the players and the legacy left by the others who died in the plane crash, they all managed to move forward and give a new joy to the whole community, so that everyone's life will continue to move forward.

Como les dije anteriormente, esta lista la coloque sin orden especificó ya que las tres me gustaron, cada historia fue diferente, pero algo en común fue que cada una me llegó al corazón (si algo sentimental XD), me dejó un aprendizaje que lo más importante de toda es el nunca rendirse, a pesar de las adversidades siempre debemos seguir adelante, además de más que una victoria también es importante valorar a los compañeros que nos acompañan cada día y así luchar por nuestras metas y lo que deseamos. Por más difícil que sea una situación, siempre debemos seguir nuestras convicciones como les he dicho en varias oportunidad. Esto es lo que más valoro de estas películas, además de la excelente historia, cast y banda sonora.

As I said before, I put this list in no specific order because I liked the three of them, each story was different, but something in common was that each one touched my heart (if something sentimental XD), I learned that the most important of all is to never give up, despite the adversities we must always move forward, besides more than a victory it is also important to value the companions who accompany us every day and thus fight for our goals and what we want. No matter how difficult a situation may be, we must always follow our convictions as I have told you on several occasions.
