Opinión de la película "Culpa Mía" || Review of the movie "My Fault"

Amigos de la comunidad Movies & TV Shows y de #Hive en general, el día de hoy les traigo la opinión sobre una cuente película que vi del género de Drama romántico en adolescentes, ya que la mayoría de las plataformas quieren llegar al público juvenil, un mercado que siempre es prometedor. La película se llama Culpa Mía, y al igual que A través de mi ventana, está basada en una adaptación de la trilogía literaria escrita por Mercedes Ron, titulado Culpables, donde la primera entrega es Culpa Mía, la cual esta basada la producción de la cual les voy a escribir este día. La película salió en este 2023 por Prime vídeo y para el próximo año se espera la segunda entrega, que se llamará Culpa Tuya, pero en esta reseña me concentraré principalmente en darles mi opinión sobre esta primera entrega.

La película Culpa Mía (2023) es una producción de Pokeepsie Films y distribuida por Amazon Studios, que fue dirigida por Domingo González, un director español que mucho tiempo se ha dedicado a realizar sobre todo vídeos musicales. Antes de comenzar a hablarles de la trama y ya que he mencionado el director, quiero mencionar que realmente realizó un excelente trabajo con este Film, realmente supo guiar la película para que fuese el agrado del público, un guion bastante correcto, un cast muy bien elegido y un equipo de trabajando muy competente. Anteriormente les he hablado de varios películas de este tipo, la última fue Crepúsculo, una película muy criticada por la trama, debida a que más que una película de Vampiros, era una producción romance juvenil más. Otra película que les hable recientemente fue A través de mi ventana, otra película basada de un libro, pero realmente si comparamos esta historia con la de Culpa Mía, el film de la cual les hablamos hoy está mucho mejor adaptada.

La trama de Culpa Mía nos cuenta como Noah, una chica de 17 años, debe dejar su ciudad y amigos, para irse con su mamá para la casa de su padrastro y su hermanastro, siendo este último Nick, un chico de la cual se llega a enamorar profundamente, a pesar de lo que pueden decir los demás. Esta película también sigue la línea de una relación tóxica al estilo de After, 3 metros sobre el cielo y A través de mi ventana. Inicialmente los adolescente no se llevan bien, pero poco a poco va existiendo una atracción entre ellos que va complicando las cosas, sobre todo con sus padres. También existe otra personajes que van a complicar la relación de nuestros protas. Realmente la película estuvo muy bien adaptada al libro, he leído muchas opiniones positivas en cuento a este punto, más allá que muchos vean que la historia es repetitiva o sin sentido, llena de mucha toxicidad.

Otra cosa que me gusta mucho del guion de la película es que la historia se entiende muy bien, todo está muy bien conectado y si no hemos leído el libro, aun así vamos a comprender la historia. A diferencia de A través de mi ventana para poner un ejemplo, en esta película si muestran como Noah y Nick se van enamorando, porque la atracción entre ellos. El aspecto positivo del film, más allá que la historia sea buena o no, es bien adaptada que está y cada escena está relacionada con la otra, no hoy escenas sin sentido o no tantas como en las producciones actuales que ha sacado Netflix. El guion para esta película fue trabajado entre la escritora Mercedes Ron, creadora de la trilogía culpables, y el director Domingo González, haciendo un trabajo muy bien llevado entre estos dos.

Friends of the Movies & TV Shows community and #Hive in general, today I bring you the opinion about a movie I saw of the Teen Romantic Drama genre, since most of the platforms want to reach the young audience, a market that is always promising. The movie is called Culpa Mia, and just like A través de mi ventana, it is based on an adaptation of the literary trilogy written by Mercedes Ron, titled Culpables, where the first installment is Culpa Mia, which is based on the production I am going to write about today. The movie was released in 2023 by Prime Video and next year the second installment is expected, which will be called Culpa Tuya, but in this review I will concentrate mainly on giving you my opinion about this first installment.


The film Culpa Mia (2023) is a Pokeepsie Films production and distributed by Amazon Studios, which was directed by Domingo Gonzalez, a Spanish director who has long been dedicated to making mostly music videos. Before I start talking about the plot and since I mentioned the director, I want to mention that he really did an excellent job with this film, he really knew how to guide the film to the public's liking, a quite correct script, a very well chosen cast and a very competent working team. Previously I have talked about several films of this type, the last one was Twilight, a film very criticized for the plot, because more than a Vampire film, it was a young romance production. Another movie I talked about recently was Through My Window, another movie based on a book, but really if we compare this story with the one of Culpa Mia, the film we are talking about today is much better adapted.


The plot of Culpa Mia tells us how Noah, a 17-year-old girl, must leave her town and friends, to go with her mom to her stepfather and stepbrother's house, the latter being Nick, a boy with whom she falls deeply in love, despite what others may say. This film also follows the line of a toxic relationship in the style of After, 10 feet above the sky and Through My Window. Initially the teenagers do not get along well, but little by little there is an attraction between them that complicates things, especially with their parents. There are also other characters that will complicate the relationship of our protagonists. The movie was really well adapted to the book, I have read many positive opinions on this point, even though many see the story as repetitive or meaningless, full of a lot of toxicity.


Another thing I really like about the script of the movie is that the story is very well understood, everything is very well connected and if we have not read the book, we will still understand the story. Unlike Through My Window to give an example, in this film they show how Noah and Nick fall in love, because the attraction between them. The positive aspect of the film, beyond the story being good or not, is that it is well adapted and each scene is related to the other, not today meaningless scenes or not as many as in the current productions that Netflix has released. The script for this film was worked between the writer Mercedes Ron, creator of the trilogy Guilty, and the director Domingo Gonzalez, making a very good job between these two.

Otro aspecto que me gusta de la historia son las escenas de las carreras, están muy bien hechas y la verdad es que me creí lo que estaba viendo. Pude conectar al 100% con la historia de Culpa Mía. Pero todo esto es gracias al buen reparto y a la selección del mismo, un punto más a favor del director, ya que cada uno de los actores y actrices estaban muy bien con sus personajes, unas actuaciones bien realizadas. Noah era interpretada por Nicole Wallace, mientras que Nick le dio vida el actor y modelo Gabriel Guevara. En la pantalla se les notaba la conexión entre estos dos, tanto en las escenas donde se estaba gustando, como en las escenas subidas de tono, que fueron varias. Si puedo criticar algo, fue una escena donde Noah estaba ebria la cual fue poco creíble, pero por lo demás se gustó mucho y debo destacar el trabajo de esto jóvenes, quienes están comenzando en ese mundo de la actuación y se ve en esta película el talento que tiene y que si son bien llevadas, las cosas se dan como debe ser.

También lo que hay que destacar es la fotografía a cargo de Hermes Marco y los escenarios que se usaron para recrear las escenas, muy bonitas las playas y los sitios elegidos. Algo que fue muy criticado en otras películas fue la banda sonora, pero en Culpa Mía las cosas fueron distintas. Sé que la mayoría de las producciones actuales para adolescentes usan mucha músicas actuales para atraer al público a la cual quieren llegar, pero ciertamente muchos no concuerdan con lo que están pasando en el momento, algo que suele ser muy incómodo, pero en este film las cosas son distintas, el sound track está muy bien llevado, incluso en las escenas de las carrera y fiestas me recuerda a Rápido y Furioso. Las mejores partes tanto de las escenas, como de sonido, las podemos encontrar en las carreras ilegales de bandas, esto sin lugar a dudas.

Another aspect that I like about the story are the racing scenes, they are very well done and the truth is that I believed what I was seeing. I was able to connect 100% with the story of Culpa Mia. But all this is thanks to the good cast and cast selection, one more point in favor of the director, as each of the actors and actresses were very good with their characters, well done performances. Noah was played by Nicole Wallace, while Nick was played by actor and model Gabriel Guevara. On screen you could feel the connection between these two, both in the scenes where they were liking each other, as well as in the racy scenes, which were several. If I can criticize something, it was a scene where Noah was drunk which was not very believable, but otherwise it was very enjoyable and I must highlight the work of these young people, who are just starting in the world of acting and you can see in this film the talent they have and that if they are well conducted, things happen as they should.


Also noteworthy is the cinematography by Hermes Marco and the scenery used to recreate the scenes, very nice beaches and the chosen sites. Something that was very criticized in other movies was the soundtrack, but in Culpa Mia things were different. I know that most of the current productions for teenagers use a lot of current music to attract the audience they want to reach, but certainly many do not match what is happening at the time, something that is usually very uncomfortable, but in this film things are different, the sound track is very well handled, even in the scenes of the race and parties reminds me of Fast and Furious. The best parts of the scenes, as well as the sound, can be found in the illegal gang races, this without a doubt.

Opinión Final

Culpa Mía no solo es una película de romance de Adolescentes y con cierto drama, sino que también tenemos escenas de acción que podemos disfrutar mucho los espectadores. Puede que la película y la trama sea considerada como igual a las demás, unos jóvenes que se enamoran fuertemente, donde el chico es violento y muy complicado, pero en esta película el personaje de Nick fue muy bien adaptada a la producción, incluso he leído que en el libro es peor de lo que vemos en el film. El cast de la película fue tan bueno y sus actuaciones, que sin problemas puedo ver esta película muchas veces, ver las escenas de las carreras, fiestas, escenas de amor, sexo e incluso algo de suspenso por momentos. Una trama muy bien llevaba por el director, Domingo González supo llegar muy bien el guion, seleccionaron el reparto correcto para cada personaje, los sitios donde fueron grabadas las escenas y la banda sonora muy acorde a lo que estamos viendo. La película no es perfecto ni mucho menos, pero al menos al verla podemos pasar muy bien el rato, la historia está muy bien llevada, todo se entiende ya que se explica cómo va se dando las cosas importantes dentro de la película. Si les gusta la película de romance y drama juvenil, Culpa Mía es una buena opción.

Final Opinion


Culpa Mia is not only a teen romance movie and with some drama, but we also have action scenes that we the viewers can enjoy a lot. The movie and the plot may be considered as the same as the others, some young people who fall in love strongly, where the boy is violent and very complicated, but in this movie Nick's character was very well adapted to the production, I have even read that in the book is worse than what we see in the film. The cast of the movie was so good and their performances, that without problems I can watch this movie many times, see the racing scenes, parties, love scenes, sex and even some suspense at times. A plot very well carried by the director, Domingo Gonzalez knew how to get the script very well, they selected the right cast for each character, the places where the scenes were recorded and the soundtrack very consistent with what we are seeing. The movie is not perfect by any means, but at least when watching it we can have a good time, the story is very well handled, everything is understood as it is explained how the important things are happening in the movie. If you like romance and youth drama movies, Culpa Mia is a good option.
