The Decision, also known as In the Name of Love, is a 2016 film, which I saw recently and in this opportunity I decided to share my experience with it. The film is a production directed by Ross Katz, besides that the script was in charge of Lionsgate and Nicholas Sparks. As you know, if at some point you have read my reviews, the dramatic romance genre is one of my favorites, I saw that this film was available and decided to watch it, although to be honest, at first expectations were low, it just intrigued me, so I gave it a chance.

El filme es una producción dirigida por Ross Katz, además que el guion estuvo a cargo de Lionsgate y Nicholas Sparks. Como ustedes saben, si en algún momento han leído mis reseñas, el género de romance dramático es uno de mis favoritos, vi que esta película estaba disponible y decidí verla, aunque para ser sincero, al principio las expectativas eran bajas, solo me intrigó, por lo que le di una oportunidad.

The story of the film tells us about Travis Parker, who meets Gabby Holland and something happened to him that he never thought would happen, like falling in love. Travis is someone who has a lot of luck with girls, he is the typical guy who has the opportunity to relate to several women, but never for something serious, until he meets Gabby. On the other hand, Gabby is a pretty smart girl, who is dedicated to studying medicine, but she is also very attractive, so our protagonist falls deeply in love, this feeling being reciprocal. A typical romance story that we usually see in other films of the genre.

La historia del filme nos habla sobre Travis Parker, quien conoce a Gabby Holland y le ocurrió algo que nunca pensó que le pasaría, como era el enamorarse. Travis es alguien que tiene mucha suerte con las chicas, es el típico que tiene la oportunidad de relacionarse con varias mujeres, pero nunca para algo serio, hasta que conoce a Gabby. As I said before, it seems to be a typical movie where two people fall deeply in love, but at the end we realize that in relationships many things usually happen, for which we must make decisions. Our protagonist must make a very difficult decision, which at the end the film gives us some suspense of what is going to happen, which makes it much more interesting.

La película tiene una duración de 111 minutos, menos de dos horas, donde al principio es bastante lento, pero a medida que va avanzando, va siendo más interesante. Como les dije anteriormente, parece ser una típica película donde dos personas se enamoran profundamente, pero al final nos damos cuenta de que en las relaciones suelen suceder muchas cosas, por la cual debemos tomar decisiones. Nuestro protagonista debe tomar una decisión muy difícil, que al final la película nos da cierto suspenso de que va a pasar, lo que hace que esta sea mucha más interesante.

Decisions are not easy at all, especially when it comes to one of the most important people in our lives. The film really gives us a great message and this is one of the things I value most in the film, beyond the love story between these two characters.

También con la historia nos podemos dar cuenta, que no siempre las cosas pasan como uno quiere, el mundo no es perfecto, pero que al final nunca perdamos la esperanzas, porque cuando creemos que todo está perdida, la vida nos puede dar una sorpresa. Las decisiones para nada son sencillas y más cuando se trata de una de las personas más importantes de nuestras vidas. Realmente la película nos da un gran mensaje y esta es una de las cosas que valoro más del filme, más allá de la historia de amor entre estos dos personajes.

The cast includes Benjamin Walker as Travis and Australian actress Teresa Palmer as Gabby. I must say that Benjamin is not bad in the role, but of all the characters in the movie he was the one I connected with the least. This is not to say that the American actor did badly, it is just a personal opinion based on my experience watching the movie In the Name of Love. We also have the great performance of Tom Wilkinson as Dr. Shep, who along with Travis works in a veterinary clinic. Additionally, we have other actors who do a very good job in each of their roles, both main and secondary in this story.

El reparto de la película está integrada por Benjamin Walker como Travis y la actriz australiana, Teresa Palmer, como Gabby. Debo decir que Benjamin no lo hace mal en el papel, pero de todos los personajes de la película fue con el que menos conecté. The cinematography of this film was in charge of Alar Kivilo, doing a wonderful job in showing beautiful scenery where this story takes place, brought to the big screen. One of the things that can also be highlighted in the film is the soundtrack, where the music of the emotional scenes really touches us. The soundtrack is not one of the best we have seen, but it does the job. Despite the fact that the film has received negative reviews, even bad ratings, I think that if we like the genre, we can come to value each of the aspects that are touched in the film The Decision.

La fotografía de esta película estuvo a cargo de Alar Kivilo, haciendo un maravilloso trabajo al mostrar unos hermosos escenarios donde se desarrolla esta historia, llevada a la pantalla grande. Una de las cosas que también se puede destacar del filme es la banda sonora, donde las músicas de las escenas emotivas nos llega realmente. La banda sonora no es de lo mejor que hemos visto, pero sí cumple con su cometido. A pesar de que la película ha recibido críticas negativas, incluso malas calificaciones, creo que sí gusta el género, podemos llegar a valorar cada uno de los aspectos que se tocan en la película La decisión.

The Decision (2016), which is also known as In the Name of Love, is a film that if we like the genre of dramatic romance, it can entertain us. It is not the best I've seen of the genre, but it fully complies with the fact that many decisions are not easy and more when it comes to a loved one. Also that we should never give up, we should always give our all, because at any moment, we will have the rewards we desire. Something that I did not like was the lack of development of the characters and that I would have liked to know more about the main characters.

La decisión (2016), que también es conocida como En nombre del amor, es una película que si nos gusta el género de Romance dramático, nos puede llegar a entretener. No es de lo mejor que he visto del género, pero sí cumple cabalmente con el hecho de dar a entender que muchas decisiones no son fácil y más cuando se trata de un ser querido. También que nunca nos debemos dar por vencidos, siempre debemos dar el todo, ya que en cualquier momento, vamos a tener las recompensas que deseamos. Algo que si no me gusta, fue la falta de desarrollo de los personajes y que me fuese gustado conocer más sobre los personajes principales.

I must say that at the beginning it is a little slow, but as the plot progresses, it picks up the pace of what we see. Also the film has a good direction, as well as good shots that are worth appreciating. Again and again, it is not the best movie in the world, but it does serve to have a nice time and have a nice message about the decisions we make in our lives and how complicated it can be. If I had to give it a score it would be a 7/10, there are many things that could have been better, especially in the plot, otherwise you can say that it is correct.

¿Recomendaría la película? Si eres amante del género de romance y drama, claro que sí. Debo decir que al principio es un poco lenta, pero cada vez que avanza la trama, va agarrando más ritmo lo que vemos viendo. También la película tiene una buena dirección, como buenas tomas que valen la pena apreciar. Vuelvo y repito, no es la mejor película del mundo, pero sí sirve para pasar un rato agradable y tener un bonito mensaje referente a las decisiones que tomamos en nuestras vidas y lo complicado que puede ser. Si tendría que darle una puntuación sería un 7/10, hay muchas cosas que pudieron ser mejores, sobre todo en la trama, por lo demás se puede decir que está correcta.
